I'm glad to hear that Nick. Subbies has been horribly soft on dirty players in the past.

In my last season, our first grade prop got king hit right in front of the ref (it was while he was setting a scrum) by a flanker from one of the dirtier teams which put him out for the rest of the game. There wasn't even an all in brawl as the rest of the fowards from both teams were getting their binds for the scrum. It was just so blantant and unexpected.

The ref shat himself as we were playing at their home field and didn't even give us the penalty - he just set the scrum once a replacement prop came on. Subbies later claimed they couldn't do anything because the ref hadn't reported it.

Earlier that year, subbies ignored our complaints about a player being rucked in the head in back play in another game. We had evidence (his head gear was torn to shreds) and witnesses, one of whom was a registered touch judge. Subbies through it out because we didn't have video and the game ref didn't report it.

It was pretty much then that I decided that the damage I was doing to my knees wasn't worth it anymore.

Yeah its tough to see that sort of thing going on, and its no wonder refs are scared to do anything with the level of idiocy out on the paddock. A bloke could get himself seriously injured if a player lost it - and this guy from Oakhill is exactly that sort of muppet. Short fuse - red mist.

I also heard today that Bankstown - who wanted to go a Div above us and failed, so settled for Div 6 and are also failing there - got kicked out of the comp for continued idiocy by a few of their people.

There are good sides too - the club captain (or is it president?) of Norwest reported one of his own guys in Second Grade last weekend for an off-the-ball. Honest to a fault (religious too) - nice chap.

So today we front up at Roseville and there are a total of about 8 guys there for the home side. After some heeing and hawing its decided they'll forfeit both grades and that we'll play 1sts v 2nds (with a few regular 2nds guys covering in First Grade, including the physio who was in runners). 30 minute halves and Firsts got away with it by about two tries in a high-scoring game. Was a good load of fun even though most of the pitch was concrete.

Hopefully that has given us enough of a margin (forfeit is automatic 28-0 BP win) on Oakhill but the results from Lane Cove v Oakhill will be published later tonight.

So, Lane Cove lost BOTH games and something is clearly wrong at their club judging by the feedback happening on their forum.

BUT because Covies had the guts to cite Oakhill's muppet two weeks ago, they lost competition points so their 2nd Grade win on the weekend doesn't count for shit! All finalists are now decided so 2nd Grade aren't playing for their spot this week. In First Grade, the only position to really be determined is which order (3rd and 4th) Lane Cove and Notre Dame finish in - they play each other this weekend. Fairvale are 1 point further back but they are unlikely to get anything this week as they're playing us ;) I'll back Notre Dame to beat them though given where their heads are at. So the games for 23 Aug are:

FIRST GRADE
Major Semi: Renegades (1) v Sydney Harlequins (2)
Minor Semi: Notre Dame (3) v Lane Cove (4)

SECOND GRADE
Major Semi: Fairvale (1) v Renegades (2)
Minor Semi: Oakhill (3) v Norwest (4)

Well down on the south coast we play for a spot in the grand final.
Batemans Bay Boars vs Broulee Dolphins.
My team is the Boars and we had a good win in the minor semi last weekend winning 29-7 against Narooma whilst the Dolphins lost 30-19 against Bermagui.

Should be a great final as its the local grudge match, lots of feelings between the 2 sides.Cant wait.
lets bring it on

Broulee? I holiday at Bermagui most years but haven't heard of this spot.

I see it's on the beach. Worth a look?

OK, so the ground is confirmed as Wills Ground - Lang Road Earlwood. Go use whereis if you want to know.

They're playing all four games for our division at the same ground so kickoff for the major SF in Second Grade is 12.20PM apparently. That is Saturday 23 September...

My club is playing for promotion tomorrow. Have to win all grades to do it. Wish I could be there to play/cheer them on but fingers are crossed.

Well, Fairvale forfeited both Grades. Bastards! They had 3 guys show up before the 2nd Grade game, and even by 2.30 only had about 6 or 8, then pulled the pin. Our players are filthy. Our committee is filthy. Subbies are fucking ropeable and are going to give them the treatment - all their teamsheets are going to be harassed with the fine-tooth comb which may not matter - they have already admitted that they played most of their guys in both grades during the year, therefore they may not even have a 2nd-grade qualified team to front up next week! This could put the cat among the pigeons as far as finals go - they may have points stripped for forfeiting so late in the round robin and may even be removed from the finals if the Subbies are pissed off enough.

I was scheduled to start at prop for 2nd grade too :(

GO THE BOARS! Well done - its a good feeling to know you've done the hard yards going into the finals and can finish off a game like that even in the dying seconds.

Fairvale, being dirty dogs, have managed to bodge their way into the semifinals with all their regular after basically admitting they had no chance of fielding a Second Grade team (having backed up for both grades for weeks now). I hate to think Subbies have gone soft, but then they're between a rock and a hard place as far as that goes... The rumour mill states that they didn't show up last week because they didn't want to risk injuries going into the finals, given they already had a few blokes out. Subbies should have booted them just for that!

Anyways, that is not my concern now because the other news of the day is that I'm first prop off the bench for First Grade. And fair enough - the blokes we have are pretty talented and have a wider skillset than I do (big Maori lads who like to hurt people). It'll be my job once I get on to put the farken hammer down and do some damage. I fear for Second Grade a bit though - their scrum got minced a bit last time we played Fairvale and I reckon I could add something to their tight five. C'est la vie.

So for those of you thinking of wandering down, all the details are at:

http://www.renegades.net.au/news.php?id=72

Barring any kind of emergency, I won't be getting on until late in the day by the looks. We'll definitely have video of the day... which reminds me - I'd better find a battery for that schmicko new digital camera I bought or we'll only have two hours at best!

Go you good thing.

I've chatted to Lindommer, and we're not going to make it this week. But I reckon if you come up with a couple of wins we can hire the bus for Saturday 6 September and get the whole TYS crew there.

No worries lads - I understand completely the circumstances. Its too long a day as it is I might add - especially if this drizzle keeps up!

Well, the Renegades are through to the Grand Final in both grades after wins in the Major Semis today. Seconds won 10-5 over Fairvale - who turned up with every player we'd ever seen from them, proving beyond doubt they dogged their teamsheets. Should have won by more really but a few missing last passes....

First Grade were harried by Sydney Harlequins early, but then turned it on to own minutes 20-70 and run out 32-15 winners. I got on for about 8 minutes - our two starting props were dominating. I missed two tackles (one of which led to a try :() and conceded a penalty. So a fairly shit day for me - those of you who didn't attend missed nothing.

[EDIT] In other news - Oakhill smashed Norwest 20-5 pretty much as expected in Second Grade, but yet another of their stupid bearded idiot props got a red card for being an unmitigated knob-end. Lane Cove got up in First Grade and the game between them and Harlequins should be a cracker. I'm not sure yet what to make of the Fairvale v Oakhill game in Seconds - Fairvale have big chunky Islander lads who could tire easily under Oakhill's kick-for-territory game, but then again they could do a number on Oakhill in close after letting their fast boys run it back.
