I know Dr Derick Coetzee quite well. He was appointed with Rassie at the start of the season and was jake Whites right hand during his tenor as Bok coach. No way Derick will let players play with the little of small niggles. Al come down on PdV at the moment but SA is way different compare to Aus or NZ. We had the talented Elstadt and Andries Bekker out now for the season, playing themself into the ground for their S100 franchises. We dont have central contracts and the SA franchise coaches havent do PdV any favours with managing the Bokke better. We had Jean and Jac playing while the Stormers had JdJ and Sadie playing well , the Brutes had Matfield and Bakkies playing while they had Kruger and Flippie, ditto Sharks that havent rotate Smit with their fatties. Keo still have his Staaldraad fame and anything that sound like a camp is fishy for him. Fact is they sure need to try and keep the players mentioned back to fitness and evaluate them to get back in peak condition for the WC tournament. That will be Coetzee and Rassies aim.

Please, the tournament has been devalued by Robbie Deans each week where he experimented with players. I will admit that maybe 20 or so players is a little steep but there really isn't much difference. The current SA players in the Oceania are trying to get selected for the RWC squad. How does that make it different to what has been Robbie Deans supposed goal of Australia winning the RWC as opposed to winning the Tri Nations. The only difference is the quantity, but Australia should not claim they have no dirt on their jerseys.

Excuse my ignorance (or calling you out) but please give me examples of Deans putting out a B team against SA or the AB's. After the last world cup, most of the "talent" retired from international rugby and the Wallabies had to rebuild.

Tri nations is a joke. It's being used to test things out for the world cup. What sort of tournament is that?

Can you imagine any team fielding anything but the best possible team in the 6 nations under any circumstances?

Come end of October, minimum 2 and possibly 3, of the tri nations teams are going to have nothing to show for fielding weakened & experimental teams in the 3 nations. What a complete and utter waste.

There is a specific SANZAR clause saying you must field your best team for the tri-nations so as not to devalue the tournament. That is why PDV has had to blatantly lie about the injuries.

Aus and NZ have played B teams (and openly so) against PI sides. Not the Tri-nations.

The only way SANZAR could take action is to send a team of independent doctors to SA but can you imagine the shitstorm?

As long as SA does not have a central contracting system, this will happen every four years. It's not right, but get used to it.

Yep the reason why I hate the WC tournament.

Of course he's lying, its obvious. Good on him, he has his eyes on the world cup and realizes the best thing to do is save his guys till the end. Just like Jake White did. Did Jake White lie about his injured players.......yes. Then he won a world cup.

The reason they cant tell the truth is due to sanctions that would be imposed on SA due to pre-existing agreements for this years Tri Nations. Will it happen in future world cup years? You bet it will.

The "A" team will be a bit rusty against Australia in their first game but will get a good run in,iron out the creases so to speak. They will discover quickly what they need moving forward after that game. But the real deal will be against the All Blacks in the Boks last Tri nations game. that my friends will be a taste of the Semi Finals. Dads army will prove a worthy opponent as it did in 2003 for the Poms.

Mate, you've got an uphill battle convincing anyone on this one.

Firstly, in 2007 Jake White did not lie. He outright stated he was sending the B team. See here:
http://www.iol.co.za/sport/white-is-upbeat-1.574605

In addition, as he has stated himself in the last week, the situation was different because a) there was no law against sending weakened teams, and b) He had deliberately organised three other warm up matches to get momentum for his A team prior to the world cup.

So, the situation is your captain and coach are lying white-faced to the media in contrast to the rules of the game. Would you accept that if it was in a match situation? Would you accept that if any other country did it? And in addition, you are saying you are happy with throwing away the Mandela plate and Tri-nations, without even making a contest of it. What an outrage. As a Wallabies supporter, I would NEVER stomach that.

You had better hope the Boks really do win the WC, because if you don't you will have lost every trophy you played for this year, hobbled your best up and coming players by throwing them to the wolves and destroyed the reptutation of your side for years to come.

Please tell me you are joking. You are saying it's okay for the Bok coach to lie?

I really hope you're not serious.

I feel sick watching this circus unfold. Another PR disaster involving PdV. Really SARU is a bloody joke for allowing this.

The rest of the world thinks we're fucking muppets because we behave like the fucking frog and his mates.

To even think he can get away with bulshitting and then to blatantly lie like he did? And then a fans calls good on him!

Hello! Cuckoo land! Anyone at home?

Good to see you've still got the moral compass working Blue. Looking from the outside, it's obvious that it's not an easy time to be a springbok supporter. Finding that balance between supporting your team through thick and thin, but also knowing when they've stepped over the line is tough. I hope for the sake of supporters like yourself that the politics of South African rugby stops clouding your game. Unfortunately, I think that is as likely to happen as rugby league merging with union in Australia.

SARU CEO on rehab of injured Boks
July 28, 2011
To listen to Jurie Roux answering questions on this topic at Thursday's press conference in Wellington, click here and press the play button.
Jurie Roux ended media speculation over the nature of the rehabilitation of injured Springboks at a media conference in Wellington on Thursday morning (SA time). The SARU CEO explained the player management rationale for what New Zealand media have described as a “secret” camp.

"It's very simple,” Roux told a packed press conference. “I run a multimillion-rand corporation where my biggest assets are my players. They're injured so I need to do something to get them ready for the World Cup.

"What do you do with an injured player? You don't send him to Bali or Mauritius on holiday, you put him into your high-performance centre with the best doctor you can find – the Springbok doctor is here with the Springbok team - and you put him on a programme of rehab to get him back for the World Cup. I don't understand the conspiracy, I don't understand the confusion.”

The suggestion was put to Roux that the existence of the Rustenburg camp had been denied. "I'm not denying they're in Rustenburg,” he said. “I'm denying the fact there is a secret training camp. I've got my players being rehabilitated, that's it.

"I would like all those guys to be un-injured but they're injured and they're busy being rehabilitated. I'm not a doctor or a miracle worker.

“I’d like Schalk Burger to be out of the cast on his thumb and to be here; I’d like Andries Bekker not to have undergone an operation yesterday that ended his World Cup; I’d like Duane Vermeulen not to have torn knee ligaments in the Vodacom Super Rugby semi-final; I’d like Gurthrö Steenkamp not to have broken his arm again and I’d like it if we hadn’t had three players go home injured from this tour and a fourth – in Heinrich Brüssow – who still hasn’t completed his rehabilitation even though we hoped he’d feature on this tour.”

Deans rested several key players in the last SA match back in 2008, and it led to our biggest lashing from the Boks...

Remember Timanu Tahu playing at inside centre?

What an arrogant twit. He couldnlt use thee words "I" and "me" more if he tried to.

That's just more rethoric on top of rethoric. Sounds like the chief clown managing the clown that.

Cowards for not calling it like it is. I bet you the only two peopl who couldn't start a test tomorrow are Juan Smith and Burger. The rest have in all likelihood recovered by now.

For the first time ever I am not looking forward to an All Black test. I'll watch it but I am going to hate every second of it.
