Sound like there aint enough banana boys (Sharks) in Snors Bok team. My geuss is that his captain is the banana that spoils his vokken banana cake at the moment.

normally i'd say that sounds like something Moses cooked up as a joke, but with PdV i can see it being true.

I think there is enough time for a new coach to take over. The RWC is a year away, and there's roughly 12-14 test matches left to find some fringe players. I think its pretty clear who the first 15 is going to be. Except our 1/2/3 and 6/7/8 combo maybe. But the rest is pretty much a given.

The new coach could probably do nothing for a year and the boks still will be better of as to PdV/Muir/Gold at the helm.

H Meyer will be my first choice..but i will give him n fresh start. I will apoint him after the RWC11.

Can you imagine PdV coaching a team like the All Blacks/Wallabys? Its unimaginable. Why must we have him. He has done enough damage.

Just got sent this... anyone care to continue the story...

Interviewer: Peter, there must be a lot of pressure on you after the performances of the Springbok in this year’s Tri-nations?
PDV: Let me answer your question this way, if I turn up with an orange and the other team turns up with a banana cake and we put them together what are we going to get?
Interviewer: I have no idea
.
.
.
.
PDV: Do not interrupt, not that all of South Africa is like an orange, some parts are like a mandarin and others are like an apple and we are very proud of this, and we have a long history of being proud of this, all around the world people now this. Now other countries they are not like this, they do not have this unique outlook that we have here in South Africa.
Interviewer: OK…
PDV: Finally you understand. I told you it was very simple. Now if we take our oranges to the market and the market is not selling bananas how are we going to make banana cake? This is the problem that we have here in South Africa. So if we cannot make our banana cake we are going to have to rely on someone else to make the cake and this is the real issue that South African rugby is having right now, I am only the coach I do not make the cakes!
Interviewer: OK…
PDV: Now let me finish, too makes cakes you need what?
Interviewer: I’m not really sure anymore…
PDV: You need eggs! Now in South Africa we have many fine eggs but we have no bananas, do you see my point?

Interviewer: Pvd..tell us what your half time speech was to the boks because they came out firing in the 2nd half?
PdV: Its easy. I just told them that i would resign if they win this game.

There must be things really wrong with his coaching (apart from the crazy comments in the media). SA had the top 2 teams in the super 14, it seems like he can't adapt to the new rules and isn't doing anything to smooth over any problems within the squad. I think if I was a SA fan, I'd want to get rid of him straight away to try and get some stability through the EOYT and into next year

That is a logical observation which by implication does not apply to South African rugby.

Interesting observation, but for some un god known reason, S14 form has never really been that good an indicator to the 3N. 1998 was a classic example of this.

As for his adaption to the rules - that's the main point. Last year the up & under game was spot on for the rules at that time & the Boks really flourished. This year, when ball in hand rugby was the main way it was played, the Boks reverted to type.. STrong at home but struggling away. Despite only winning 1 from 3 at home, it's unarguable that they were a much more formidable prospect at home than away.

The All Blacks proved this in reverse. The super 14 teams were not great and a lot of people started writing off the Al Balcks. Fark they were wrong.

The 'boks struggled in 2006 as well from memory and there were many calling from within South Africa to sack him in favour of Meyer. They didn't and the rest they say is history....

One thing I'll give Snor his due is upsetting Stofile.

Stofile: Get Div a spokesperson
2010-09-07 22:38Email | Print

Cape Town – Sports Minister Makhenkesi Stofile is “furious” about the comment by Springbok coach Peter de Villiers that the Springboks support Blue Bulls prop and murder suspect Bees Roux.

“Goodness man! Get yourself a spokesperson!” was the advice offered by Stofile to the Bok coach.

Stofile was approached by Die Burger for comment on the statement made by the coach.

“Even I don’t always understand what he says,” he added.

Stofile also believes it will be better for De Villiers to speak in his mother tongue, Afrikaans, if he does not feel comfortable in English.

According to Stofile, who attended a meeting of the parliamentary portfolio committee on sport on Tuesday, he was in China when De Villiers made the comment.

“It’s disgraceful to say that you support someone 100% when he possibly took another person’s life in such a brutal manner. If this was the old South Africa, he would have been charged as an accomplice for that kind of statement.”

Stofile now wants an explanation from SARU over whether they support the statement by De Villiers.

If not, he wants to know how they will act against the coach.

“The entire organisation’s name is being dragged through the mud. It’s unacceptable.”

Stofile said that he had advised De Villiers at the time of his appointment to get a spokesperson.

“I repeat that request today. With the kind of questions the media asks, I said that he would be sorry about something he said one day. You need special skills when talking to the media. And Peter is a man who loves to talk.

“Today we are embarrassed and angry about what he said. You can’t be delighted when someone is killed. Peter, please don’t expose yourself to the media like that.

“I agree totally that he should speak Afrikaans if he’s not comfortable in English. English is also not my first language and I also struggle with it at times. We think in our mother tongue and then have to verbalise the thought in English. And Peter talks very quickly.”

As for the public reaction to the Springboks’ losses, Stofile said that rugby is the sport that “stirs emotion” more than any other in South Africa.

“We don’t like losing and are hard and unforgiving when it comes to rugby.”

He believes one of the reasons for the team’s poor performances is that they play “too much rugby”.

“It’s not good for the body. We should not be tempted by money to the point that we are not prepared to rest our bodies.

“But every dark cloud has a silver lining. My advice to the coach is to give the youngsters a chance now before next year’s World Cup in New Zealand. We have nothing to lose. The older men won’t be getting any younger or stronger.”
The ANC is trying to make the Bees incident a racial one, they underestimate the power of Fatties and the values of Prieska. This one is going to exploide heavily in their faces as the real truth about this one is going to come out over time.

Paarl, I'm interested in your opinion on this. Could De Villiers utterances simply be his translations to english or is he really as stupid as he comes across?

He is better in english then myself. He love talking and just let it out. The few times I had a chat with him he came across as a real down to earth local Paarliet. You may call it stupid but then our lot have this rugby madness in our vains.

I think part of it is lost in translation. Being Afrikaans speaking myself I can understand at times what he is trying to say and why it comes out wrong. His English is average at best.

The problem is that he should not speak other than short, factual answers.

It just shows that he has not been disciplined at all.

So what you're both saying is that he is smarter than he comes across?

For sure. Myself had a talk to him just after the Schalk Lions incident at Paarl Gym when he attend the kiddies sport. Try to brag Paarl Gym and Schalk and his response was something like, "Schalk moet net ophou die mense se oee uitkrap" with a bit of banter. He'll stick with his players 100% no matter what and this Bees thing and the current Tri Nation sqaud show this. He is pretty old school coaching and saw him often on the paddock doing some passing if there is a shortage of players or running with them, exct. Will never be the flashy type , not in a million years.

Blue or Paarl, What does that mean in english?

I don't think he is particularly intelligent. His coaching "intelligence" has been tested for the first time this year in the 3N and we have all seen the results. He cannot adapt, make bold selections, devise tactics and coach the players to follow one plan.

Not the brightest I don't think.
