Hi guys

Firstly i want to say congrats to all the Aussies on their win this Saterday. I can imagine it was pretty special for you. With the young talent at your dissposal, i think in about 3 - 4 years time this Wallaby team can reach the same level as the 99 - 01 team.

I know how B Cannon feels about PdV, but I want to know what is the general feeling about PdV, as a national rugby team coach, in Aus/NZ? Look..Saterday was painful for me as a bok supporter..but that pain was sort off dampened by the thought that just maybe, just maybe there is a chance that SARU draws the line and fires PdV. And talking to a few of my mates today, the feeling was mutual. At 31-6 down, my feeling was that if Aus is going to win today, let it be with a big margin. As long a theres a bigger chance for PdV to get fired. With D Muir and G Gold with him.

I read on another site today that Muir's record for the year as Lions and Bok backline coach is 1 in 19. (I think site excluded the wins vs Italy,Wales?). I dont think its just a coincidence that the Lions and Boks struggle defensively.

PdV, Muir and Gold have taken the form players from the S14 and coached the form out of them. Its as if the more time a player spends in the squad, the less form he has.

It is only fair to keep PDV around until the RWC.

He has had some good results and although unorthodox he has something very special about him.

If you don't retain the RWC think about a change then.

I am not impressed with him. Not because of his outlandish statements (even though some of them have been pretty crazy), but because of his poor selections, tactics, coaching...he has great depth and had form players to choose from and the results don't reflect that.

Is there a viable replacement available? Would the disruption be worth the change?

As a Wallaby supporter, I'd prefer to see him stay on till the RWC and beyond...so that probably means you'd be better off without him (assuming the above criteria can be met).

Well, Paarl and Blue have been putting up alternative players all season, but PdeV just put out the most experienced test side of all time.

It hasn't worked, and now they have only a couple of internationals to find new guys before the RWC.

I hope that they let him coach the Boks for the next 2 RWC's at least.
He should bring back Percy as well, and leave Kirchner on the sideline.

Can't adapt to rules. Can't make cohesive selections decisions. Can't spot talent. Can't replicate what Super 14 coaches have done under the rules. Can't get the Bulls and Stormers players to buy into one game strategy. Can't manage player fitness and conditioning. Can't take any risks. Can't fix things when they are an obvious gap (defense, need for fetcher). Can't do succession planning. Can't keep his mouth shut.

Did I miss anything?

The fucking arseclown should have been gone long ago but the racism card looms large all the time and Oregin Hoskins is too much of a pussy to do good by SA rugby.

We have an embarassment of talent in the Currie Cup but this coaching staff are too scared and incompetent to bring guys through (which is just as well because they will probably fuck up promising careers).

Losing 5 of 6 in the 3N is an embarassment with the kind of players and experience we have. One can only imagine how well we could be doing under a coach with vision and competence. 6 won of the last 13. Three of those against Italy. It has fallen to pieces.

As for Muir, he must go now. He failed miserably with the Lions and it is obvious that he can't cope with the way rugby has chnaged in the last two years.

If these guys were senior execs in a half decent company they would have been fired in disgrace a long time ago, not asked nicely to leave.

I know a lot of people who are hoping PdV stays on because they know we won't be a threat in NZ next year with him in charge. It's perfect for any Aussie or NZ fan (the others won't win it anyway.)

PS. I have heard that the Bulls / Stormers rift in the squad has been a bigger issue than made out to be and that it has not been managed well by the coaches at all. Provincial rifts will always exist and if it is not managed it points 100% to the coaching team...

Replacements?

We would do better with White, but that would not happen.

My choice (and most Saffers) would be Heyneke Meyer of the Bulls.

Alistair Coetzee or Rassie Erasmus would be good too.

Sack him now so the new coach has a tid bit of time to settle before the EOYT. As an outsider looking in, he is making South Africans look foolish. Part of me believes the form of Matfield and Smit has suffered because the have to play the diplomat so often to try and maintain respectability of the Sprinbok brand. Let's not beat around the bush here, skin colour makes this complicated and difficult. Are their any up and comming black coaches in SA? Coetzee did a good job for the Stormers.

On the other hand, for an out sider, he is very entertaining. :lmao:

For an insider it's also entertaining at times :)

Aliastair Coetzee would be a big improvement. He as Shite's assistant and has done amazingly well. He is humble, and brings in people where he things the squad needs help,

Heyneke Meyer is the man, but fire a black guy and replace him with the white Boer? Not likely now.

What's that? Did I hear Eddie Jones putting his hand up for the Bokke gig?

Snors biggest mistake is John Smit. Pretty sure John run all things Bokke at the moment. Another big mistake is the picking of NH players. It hurts SA rugby and more then just the Bokke. We already saw talent like Wiaan and Heinke gone and Grant only just staying. He should have brought Jean de Villiers back via CC rugby, its obvious young guns like Juan de Jongh and Gio Aplon should have started in the Tri Nations and not Steyn and Jean. Grant must have been in the squad ipo Bitch. This leave the current Bok players like they just have to pitch up in tests and play while the younger ones dont get any change.

Oh and Brussouw, FdP and Bismarck will make a huge differense to the current Bok team. Totally different.

Just got sent this... anyone care to continue the story...

Interviewer: Peter, there must be a lot of pressure on you after the performances of the Springbok in this year’s Tri-nations?
PDV: Let me answer your question this way, if I turn up with an orange and the other team turns up with a banana cake and we put them together what are we going to get?
Interviewer: I have no idea
PDV: Exactly, this is exactly my point, now you bring in another team and they bring water melon, and we squish them all together, what do you get then?
Interviewer: I have no idea
PDV: Exactly! And this is why I am the Springbok coach and you a just a journalist. I cannot believe how you lot fail to see the obvious – let me try and simplify this for you.
Interviewer: Please do…
PDV: Let us start by looking at the differences between our countries, South Africa is like an orange…
Interviewer: Really, how so?
PDV: Do not interrupt, not that all of South Africa is like an orange, some parts are like a mandarin and others are like an apple and we are very proud of this, and we have a long history of being proud of this, all around the world people now this. Now other countries they are not like this, they do not have this unique outlook that we have here in South Africa.
Interviewer: OK…
PDV: Finally you understand. I told you it was very simple. Now if we take our oranges to the market and the market is not selling bananas how are we going to make banana cake? This is the problem that we have here in South Africa. So if we cannot make our banana cake we are going to have to rely on someone else to make the cake and this is the real issue that South African rugby is having right now, I am only the coach I do not make the cakes!
Interviewer: OK…
PDV: Now let me finish, too makes cakes you need what?
Interviewer: I’m not really sure anymore…
PDV: You need eggs! Now in South Africa we have many fine eggs but we have no bananas, do you see my point?

Interviewer:
