AUSTRALIAN SCHOOLS RUGBY UNION (ASRU)
A BIG YEAR AHEAD IN 2013
The coming year features a “first ever” event for Schools Rugby and the touring highlight to the UK and Ireland.

The “first ever” event is the proposed visit to Australia by a South African Schoolboy Rugby Team, something that has been hoped for and planned many times before but which now looks like it will happen in 2013.

Their visit will occur with visits to Australia by New Zealand and Fiji Schools Teams.
Four Nations Tournament — thus— South Africa, New Zealand, Fiji and Australia will play a round robin set of games with each other in late September / early October.

UK /Ireland Tour
The four yearly Tour to the UK and Ireland will take place from mid-November to just before Christmas — with games against each of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales— a “grand slam” tour.
There will be eight or nine games in total, with “mid-week” type games against regional teams.

Eligibility
To be eligible for selection in any or all of the above events a player needs to be at school and turning 18 or younger in 2013. There is more information about eligibility on this web site.

Championships
The other major event in 2013 is the National State Championships— from which players for the Australian Team will be selected.
These Championships also include the interstate competition for both Division 1 and Division 2 States.
