Grace confirmed as having fractured a collar bone. A further assessment later in the week will determine if surgery is required. Definitely gone for rest of NPC & if surgery is required for rest of year one would think.

These are the most interesting games for me this weekend, as I can't get to Naki game may have to do a bit of switching between that and Aucks/Taniwha game Sat, both Sunday's games will be pretty interesting, I would think.

Tasman/Manawatu game was not bad last night I thought, but really enjoyed the 4.30pm Hurricanes region 1st XV final. Napier BHS against St Pats Silverstream, ended in 17 all draw with Napier going through to top 4 NZ finals curtesy of scoring 3 tries to 2. St Pats looked bloody good, Solomona at 12 is a pretty good player, big solid boy too, made a real good legal hit in tackle in Napier 12 (a pretty small skinny fella in comparison)at one stage, but the Napier boy was back up into it and had quite an impressive game I thought. I was pretty impressed with both teams commitment and play during game, and you could see what it meant to all players, they absolutely emptied tanks. To me a good advert for how the game should be played.

^ If the Nelson College game is on TV today (can't remember who they're playing, think it's one of the Anglican/ Presbyterian schools) that'll be worth a look, too.

Mako now fourth-equal in their section but really needed to nail the BP last night. NH ahead of them on PD so I'll have to wargame the fixtures list to see if QF is a realistic goal.

Watching that as I post WOB, they playing John McGlashin College from Dunedin, another good game. Nelson are struggling.

Holy shit, Northland have beaten Auckland! First-ever NPC win over them in Whangarei & off the top of my head probably the first anywhere for a few years *. Makes Cantabs v HBay tomorrow even more crucial QF-wise.

Edit: Mooloos won big v 'naki to remain the only unbeaten team in the comp. * & only their third-ever NPC win v Aux.

Wellington seem to be putting Southland away up by 15 with 20 to go and seem to be getting more on top.

^ NM-S reminding us what could've been had he not had so many injuries... or been that bit too small (the former perhaps being a consequence of the latter).

Mighty 'nua triumphant & some other Heartland games were also played.

Table starting to sort itself out but way too early to make predictions other than Whanganui & South Cantabs will be in the Meads Cup SF as usual.

JMC first-time South Island champions & some famous surnames in there: Joseph, Timu, Mauger (sons of Jamie, John & Aaron) & Hore (nephew of Andrew).
