By gee that was another great game wasn't it WOB? I was sitting here watching it with a bloody great grin saying to Mrs Dan54 how bloody luky we are having this quality rugby to watch. I loved the game, by christ the Hawk Eyes just keep turning out players the last few years haven't they?

Non- comp Otago v Wellington - check out the kid playing 10 for Otago, got sme skills & as smooth a kicking action as you'll see. If he's not already on Clan's books they need to get him signed asap.

Meads Cup finalists sorted so all interest now turns to Lochore Cup & 5th/ 6th playoff

Mid Canty & North Otago have Buller & King Country this week so Mighty 'nua really, really need to put Poverty Bay to make sure of a place in the Lochore Cup Final. Whanganui have Thames Valley which will also have a bearing even if only in terms of who hosts who in which match.

FTR I'm picking 'nua, Hammers (as in MC Hammers, geddit?) & Old Golds to win, Butcher Boys to lose but only just.

BoP still in the SF mix but will need a result or two to go their way & beat Cantabs on Saturday.

Tasman v Wellington the other key game this week.

BOP/Northland game wasn't one I really feel I need to watch again, was pretty ordinary I thought.

Still trying to see if I can get tickets to Naki/Stag's game on Sunday, retricted numbers are a pain in the arse!

Waikato confirm home SF:

Tomorrow's NPC matches are essentially QF: winners of Cantabs v BoP & Mako v Wellys go through to play Magpies (top seeds) or Mooloos, losers get to get on it a coupla weeks early.

Mighty 'nua may or may not have missed the playoffs on what looks like a rather odd countback

By my talley they & MC both finished with a +17 PD & they didn't play each other so it can only be because MC beat PB & PB beat 'nua. I've never known a three-way tie to be broken like that but I guess them's the rules so them's the breaks :(

"South Canterbury and Thames Valley will contest the Meads Cup in Timaru. South Canterbury were minor premiers when beating West Coast 46-19 in Greymouth while Thames Valley lost at home to Whanganui 27-35.

"That win gave Whanganui home advantage in the Lochore Cup final against North Otago who beat King Country 36-5 in Oamaru.

"The playoff for fifth and sixth has unofficially resulted in Horowhenui Kapiti missing out as a result of Poverty Bay's 34-33 injury-time win. Three teams, Poverty Bay, Mid Canterbury and Horowhenua Kapiti ended on 24 points. Mid Canterbury and Poverty Bay went through as winners of games in pool play"

Wellington well beaten I thought, was impressed with young Morgan at Lions when he came on.

Canterbury/BOP was a bloody good game I thought, by geez I like the look af young Cashmore for BOP at 10, another well balanced player who plays a mature game for an 18yo!
And Chay Fihaki at 15 for canterbury looks so bloody good, and he only 20! I know he born and grew up here in NZ, but he is eligible for Fiji isn't he?
Although we getting towards xmas I will be a bit sad when NPC is finished, love this comp!!

Looks like stoopid Cantabs will finish third by virtue of beating Mako last week & play Mooloos in Tauranga or RotoVegas while Mako get another crack at Magpies in Napier. We could yet see the first-ever neutral venue NPC Final.

Championship SF1:

Geez the Otago scrum was so dominant it became ridiulous, they looked pretty good all over actually and final against the Naki (if Sundays match goes to script) will be a belter. We not in a bad spot when these quality teams are fighting out the second level are we? I admit to it being a long season , but will still be a little disappointed whan it ends next week
