See young Parata got MOTM in todays case. I remember reading one of the Aus posters on a thread in here a few weeks back saying one of the differences in development pathways, and how NZ bring them through a after they have got a bit more experience, this kid is a good example, I think he may of played Super if had stayed in Aus by now, he just got his first start at NPC level today.

Bay of Plenty, Chiefs & Maori AB player Sean Wainui has died in a car accident. Condolences to whanau & friends.

Northland coming out of L3 at midnight tomorrow so will be able to return home. Waikato staying in L3 at least until Friday so Mooloos can either stay in Tauranga or head on down to Napier early for their Shield challenge on Saturday. Aux staying in L3 for at least two more weeks so even the mooted Super City triangular is running out of time to be got up.

Match would've clashed with his tangi so no real surprise. If it is rescheduled it'll have to be played midweek as BoP have games in both Week 9 & 10. More likely they'll call it a draw & share the points, I think.

Edit: East Coast sent a delegation down to Gisborne & there was a bit of a NZ rugby who's who inc Razor & Farah Palmer at what looked like the arrival of Wainui's casket onto the marae. There'll no doubt be moments of silence etc at games this weekend & apparently AB have something planned for Sunday morning.

^ so will Thorne & Browne quit at season-end or be fired after the review? They've been pants for two years now & given their roster that shouldn't be the case so someone's gotta carry the can for that & that's almost always the coach(es).

1 v 2 in the Championship & looks like ''twas a barn burner:

Edit: awesome pre-match haka from both teams in recognition of Sean Wainui's passing.

Southland v Northland is being brought forward from Sunday 31/10 to Saturday 30/10 so that the postponed BoP v Northland can be played midweek between weeks 9 & 10. Haven't seen a date & time but presumably Wednesday afternoon or evening.

Spot the Samoa international & Crusader (among other Clubs) who lined up for Mighty 'nua today:

IMG_1121.PNG

Edit: graphic suggests this was Ryan Shelford's 98th appearance which would mean he'll potentially reach 100 in the Lochore Cup Final or 5th/6th playoff.
