With the CHS trials in Wagga it is along way to travel from northern NSW. This would have been a great year for CSRU to draw from the northern half of the state and build a stronger base to select from.
ACIES v CSRU selection trials to form a combined team would be formula that might work.

Just for all info - this was the 2011 U12 NSW Primary Schools Team (PSSA) , be interesting to see from this team who makes this years U16 NSW schoolboys team -

The 2011 NSW PSSA Rugby Squad was;

Alexander Apthorpe Holy Trinity, Inverell – Polding,
Rory Lynch St Aloysius, Cronulla – Mackillop,
Oregon Kaufusi Barnier Public School - Sydney West,
Mac Williams Mosman Public School - Sydney North,
Nicholas Frost Berowra Public School - Sydney North,
Alan Davies St Finbars, Glenbrook – Mackillop,
Bailey Lamb Gwynneville Public School - South Coast,
Liam Cornish Waverley – CIS,
Ben Hansen Knox Grammar – CIS,
Triston Reilly South West Rocks - North Coast,
Samuel Villata Beelbangera Public School – Riverina,
Zac Lomax St Anne's Temora – Mackillop,
Jesse Stevens Assumption Bathurst – Polding,
Harry Haywood Balgowlah Heights - Sydney North,
Tre Finau St Patricks Griffith – Mackillop,
Max Cutrone Knox Grammar – CIS,
Hugo Traine South Coogee - Sydney East,
Sam Abbey Holy Family Parkes – Polding,
Dominic Easy Holy Spirit Ryde – Mackillop,
Jaiden Burke St Patricks Trundle – Polding,
Jaemon Salmon OLF Carringbah – Mackillop,
Will Harrison OLR Kensington - Mackillop

Max Cutrone surely would be in contention
Is there any news on how Frost is going ? isn't he at knox aswell?
Ben Hansen would probably make CAS
Cornish would be a definent for CAS and would give it a fair go at the NSW team if he is not injured

Yes now that may come up with a competitive squad, food for thought.

There are trials at Forshaw this coming Sunday, does anyone know the draws for the other trial dates?

CCC v CHS draw is out with teams playing 2 games in the 3 team trial.

Forshaw Rugby Park 31/5/2015

u/16s - 3 x 30 min "games"
CHS II v CCC, 10am
CHS II v CHS I, 10.40am
CHS I v CCC, 11.20am

u/18s - 3 x 35 min "games"
CHS II v CCC, 12.00 (2014: CCC 17 def CHS II 5)
CHS II v CHS I, 12.45 (2014: CHS I 12 def CHS II 5)
CHS I v CCC, 1.30 (2014: CHS I 17 def CCC II 7) (2013 CHS I 56 CCC 7 - Full game) [2012 CHS I 34 CCC 3 - Full game]

Previously AICES U16 and U18 have been involved in this trial. Typically CHS I v CCC, CHS II v AICES. AICES U18 are back this year but do not appear to be playing in this trial.

Can anyone confirm?

I think I have to post this (or something similar) each year.

These trial matches are important for bragging rights for those that care about AAGPS vs GHS vs ISA etc.
The reality is that the games are run as trials to select the best NSW Schoolboys teams to beat Queensland at National Championships.

Looking at all the games:
AICES, ISA, AAGPS - 2 games to "impress" the selectors
CAS, and CCC have 3 games to impress the selectors
CHS teams play 4 games in front of the selectors.

I note that there has been the use of the terms "NSWRU U18s Affiliates Fixtures" and "Official NSWRU U18s Selection Trials" this year. This may have been used previously and I may not have paid attention to it, however each association only plays in two "Official NSWRU U18s Selection Trials" games.

I'd like to see AICES and ISA get more games but the realities of the calendar are that it is very difficult to line up quality opponents for AICES and ISA without impacting on other established and immoveable game commitments. Maybe AICES could try to arrange up some games against NSW Country U18's, SJRU U17's but there would be travel and time costs that many may consider unworkable.

Because there are only 3 games per week in AAGPS and CAS, it is easy for selectors to drop in to one of their association games to see how some of the "names" may be going. With regular ISA Div I games spread from Orange to Campbelltown to Warringah, and Div II (yes the occasional National rep level player is unearthed from ISA Div II) spread from Gosford to Bathurst to Bowral, it it tough for "informal" observations from selectors to be made on ISA games. AICES (and CHS/CCC) players are generally playing Colts or Grade footy for clubs on a regular basis and there is almost no opportunity for Selectors to conduct "informal" observations. In short if they have a bad trial in their two official trial games, the AICES and ISA lads are cactus.

I'm not sure how a "fairer" trials process can actually be established given the existing time constraints.

ISA team looks like a pretty experencied, well balanced outfit. Most guys have had previous ISA, NSW or Aust schools experience in the last year or two at least. Will be interesting to see how they come together against CHS 1 in a fortnight.
