Does anyone have the updated kick-off times for the above games this Friday?

The announcer at the Rat Park games yesterday gave different / earlier times, (which is good, given the lack of lights at Curagul oval).

I believe the second game may have been changed to CCC v Country.
Is it possible for someone to confirm that please?

3 good & competitive games yesterday.
Country without any big stars , on paper , played with their customary enthusiasm , which we see each year, but this time had enough skill to gain a clear & deserved win.
A couple of boys still in contention for the shadow NSW group at this stage. The bigger C HS team clearly out enthused , & looked flat.

Gone are the days when CCC are going to get a hiding at this carnival , as was the case last year , they gelled well together as a team , a credit to their coach ,& surprised many
with their level of ability.I watched their trials at St Gregory's a couple of weeks ago , & didn't see much of an indication that they had much individually , but the players that
have been selected have come together really well. This is going to be a much stronger group in the years to come.

ISA just too fast & energetic for CHS. I agree with most of the summaries above , CHS certainly bigger in the forwards , but ISA had a couple of pretty hefty blokes themselves however. ISA played with speed & variation in possession , CHS looking repetitive & predictable in the backs , with only short periods when they looked dangerous.

I can't end without special mention of the ISA no 10, (Matt Arnold )who pretty much orchestrated the whole game.
In my view , he was the standout player in all of the 3 games today , & looks certain to be in one of the upcoming NSW teams.
All the Trials at Narrabeen were excellent to watch and played in great Spirit, no fighting, just great footy ! thought last years CHS Team were a lot Bigger but this side were still big ! the ISA Backs were Superb to watch, with Speed to burn, Confident knowing exactly what they were doing, Best players for ISA were C Taylor, J Walker and A Tukipili. In CHS Number 7 played well and their Big Second Rower with the frizzy Hair also played well. I think If CHS are to be Competitive against GPS they need to play a Forwards game, putting High Bombs up and not kicking straight to them and trying not make any mistakes and Having a Good Referee will help. Lol. I would love to see the CHS Boys do really well.

The ISA backs were superb, but your best players were a winger and 2 forwards?
Those 2 forwards must have been feeding the winger all day then?
I didn't think Walker played league?

I agree with Sideline Eye's recount of the score.

There were a lot of points left on the paddock today due to missed conversions from both sides. I might have been distracted but my notes only show 1 missed PK by the CHS kicker (#12 Cook).

Sideline may be referring to a/several decision/s by CHS to kick for touch instead of taking a PK for goal. I have CHS as missing 3 conversions and 1 PK (9 possible points) to ISA missing 3 conversions (6 possible points).

#11 ISA (Taylor) scored both his tries right on the touch line, and the other miss from #14 ISA (Cochrane) was from the #12 (Currie) try which was about 5 m in from touch. Pretty tough assignments. One lucky conversion from #14 dropped on to the crossbar and bounced over.

CHS
#12 CHS (Cook) was the kicker and was not given an easy task by his try scorers. #3 (Late replacement Walsh) crossed the chalk about 15 metres from touch on oranges, #8 (Warren) made it slightly easier, and #11 (O'Brien) try was very close to touch. #5 Vatuvei try on the final hooter was converted from a close angle.

ISA
Try scorers from ISA were:
#11 (Taylor) x 2, #7 (Freeman), #1 (Tukipili), #14 (Cochrane), #12 (Currie), #15 (Cotton).

Half time: ISA I 24, CHS I 5. Full time: ISA I 43 CHS I 22.

A fitting final game to a great day of footy (under 16 and Opens) at Rat Park.

Wasn't paying too much attention to the U16 scorelines, so don't ask. Just happy to see some kids having fun in the winter sun.

When I mentioned the comprehensive outplaying from ISA loosies it was not on an individual head to head basis, but as a group of loose forwards. #7 CHS (Paenga-Amosa) was like a Rock of Gibraltar once he got over the ball. He will be a challenge for the GPS boys, and he could be the starting #7 for NSW I's. He probably should make sure that his passport will be valid for December this year. While CHS #6 and #8 were sound individually, I felt that they did not gel together as a group as well as the ISA loosies did, and they relied too much on their #7 to do all the hard grind.

Loved the look of the 'Fro -#4 (Vainikolo) as it has been a long time since I've seen one as good as that. (IIRC the last humdinger of a Footy 'Fro [excluding TPN and Samo] was a Manly Prop at Jnr RWC in 2008 or thereabouts). It certainly draws attention to yourself as a player, but I thought of the two 2nd rowers #5 Vatuvei was the better performer. Would like to see a Vatuvei and Anderson (ISA) pairing in the second row.

#1 ISA (Tukipuili) - IIRC was at Bally Boys High (CHS U16) last year, played a great game. Good in the scrum, although the ISA front row Fatties were probably a little out of balance compared to the CHS front rankers, and he ran with speed and aggression when he was given the Gilbert. Good pick up for ISA and and a loss for CHS.

Would love to have seen #25 CHS (Skelton - Jnr) get a go doing more than just running the water. He is a monster that boy, with the top of Vainikolo's 'Fro only coming to Skelton's shoulder, standing a good Head and Shoulders taller than anyone else on the field.

I see Uni have got hold of him into their Colts programme, and if he works hard on his game and fitness as his "little" brother Will has, we could see a Skelton/Skelton pairing in the second row at Shute Shield if not Tahs some time in the future.

After the big victory against CAS, were the CHS boys a little overconfident given recent years ISA record?

They certainly looked a bit shellshocked to be 24 points down at the 25 minute mark of the first stanza. They rallied well to grab a meat pie on the stroke of 1/2 time, and with the gap reduced to 2 converted tries at the 14 minute mark of the 2nd half, there was a glimmer of hope, but the needed two tries were scored in quick succession by their opposition.

I was impressed with the CHS piggies tactic of going for the static maul to create a scrum turnover. While ISA tried to do similar, the CHS team got a lot of good ball turnovers this way. Possibly the benefits of their time on tour in NZ earlier in the year.
Totally agree, thought pace of ISA forwards was the difference allowed quicker ball for auggies backline that has improved every game this year.
Would still swap Cochrane and Cotton around, both great players but think cochrane makes less mistakes at full back and cotten is a better player when he has less responsibility.
Surprised to see Cook in the 2s, Edwards had solid game but Cook is a class act and would be in contention for nsw spot on form you would have thought.
Kagiassis in the 2s had a great game and probably deserved a go in the 1s but at the expense of who? M.Arnold was brilliant, Agliozzo, Hanigan, Halifonua, and Markus all put there hands up for a go in the ones but again at the expense of who, great to see this depth in the ISA

Stokes,I don't think you are taking the opposition into account, when comparing performances.
CCC was beaten comprehensively by CHS.
It stands to reason that ISA 1's would also have beaten CCC by in excess of 50.
So I think you need to temper your enthusiasm for some of the II's players to some extent.
We can compare Edwards & Cook,as they both played CHS.
I thought Edwards was stronger in contact, and deserves to retain his spot.
Regarding fullback, neither did much right or wrong against CHS.But in their head to head mid week, Cotton dominated Cochrane in contact.

Is Arthur Currie (St Gregs) a mid field back or a forward?

It seems he has been listed as an 8 in some previous rep teams, but he played as a 12 on the weekend, and did OK IMHO.

What position does he play for School?

Taane Milne and Tepai Moeroa both selected in NSWRL U/18's today. Medicals are tomorrow afternoon/evening. Same time as the GPS 1 v CAS 1 game .... hmmmm??????

Don't think that this factor would change the result.

CAS have a few of their top players out injured after the CHS contest.

Rugby will be the winner tomorrow.

Anyone going?

Have you set the Hourglass, Uncle Lee?

In terms of ISA 1 forwards, standouts were #1, #6, #17. #6 and #17 were tireless in moving around the field and often disrupted CHS ball. #1 had great aggressive running and was good around the scrum.
In terms of scrums #18 was more competitive in the scrum against CHS than #3. The scrum seemed equally balanced during the engagement however the heavier CHS pack truly dominated the scrum.

HJ,

Who is out for CAS 1's? Is Harry Jones still good to go? I'm looking forward to see how he is currently performing. I'm hearing that he has really started to mature as a player.

#17 Declan Moore was tremendous for ISA 2s as well. It is a phenomenal effort on his part to back up and play the majority of the 1sts game due to Lough's injury. John Walker was solid around the park and I feel is a genuine contender for NSW somewhere as either #6 or #8. The same can be said for Tukipili who was outstanding at LHP. Interesting your comment about the THPs. Agliozzo was in jersey #18 and did provide some starch to the ISA scrum. Partridge #3 from Oakhill is by no means an ideal scrummager, you only had to see the St Pats Oakhill fixture to take a pick at who was the better THP. I really hope to see Agliozzo get a shot starting for 1s against CAS.

Again I can only affirm how strong #7 was for CHS, I'd certainly have him figured into a NSW side with more to come from there.

H Jones is getting great wraps for his work in the Barker 1st XV. He apparently played the CAS v CHS game the day after being hospitalised for a stomach something. It would seem to have been a bridge too far for him as he left the field early, and IIRC the match report suggests that he didn't make his usual impact on the game. Little wonder if he was crook.

Go back a page or two where the latest CAS team lists have been posted. There appears to have been some adjustments made to the lists due to injuries after the CHS game. I do like that Van Zyl gets a run on start, and that Summerhayes is back although in the II's and as a 7. I think he is a 6 or 8 that can play 5 at a pinch, and as he matures into Colts and Grade we will see him as more of a #6. I would like to see Hugh get a gig in the I's but think he is just back from an extended injury rehab - Knee perhaps.

The CAS selectors have done a Papahatzis and gone for an entire Barker backline. This could be a masterstroke or backfire spectacularly.

I think that GPS will have too much speed, power and experience for the CAS backline regardless of whether the Terrific Twins are playing or not.

He played on Saturday v. Cranbrook and was hard to contain when Barker got their chances, according to reports.

Earlier I saw him have an unhappy game for CAS v. CHS (the day after he had health issues).

And Snort said he made several mistakes for Barker v. Trinity as a custodian and also hogged the ball.

But he is an exciting player to watch and one that who is going to do well in a pro environment when he leaves school and gets exposed to the reality that he won't be a star for a while.

Something that is not mentioned much is that he has a good leg on him and can boot the ball a long way from hand or the kicking tee. And IIRR he is not too bad with his "wrong" foot.

Well, CAS had 6 of the 7 in the backline last time out v. CHS and they weren't too flash, but their forwards had trouble providing quick ball, to be fair. The thing is though: they will probably have the same problem v. GPS.

Pappa is a NSW selector only these days; so I wonder how he will view such a thing in that role.

I remember writing a couple of years' back that it made some kind of sense for ISA to use the Auggies' backline because training time was so short, and they were usually dominant in 1st XV games anyway.

Let's see how the CAS/Barker backline performs, or is allowed to perform, second time out.

Hopefully CAS can keep their forwards on the field for more than 10-15 mins today. It would have been very hard to maintain any go forward or structure in the forwards when you lose 7 of them in one game, most in first half.
looking forward to the contest today in IIs and 1s
