You lot seem in the know, who are the selectors in 15s and 17s? Any ideas or is it speculation?
I trekked out to the bush to watch the games and I was somewhat bemused by some of the selections TBH.
Can someone explain if a coach's son becomes ineligible for selection in the NSWJRU team because their father was the coach of SJRU team?
There were two SJRU lads who I thought were worthy of selection in the NSW team; Laga'aia (the prop) and Hanigan the lock. I'm quite mystified at the non-selection of these two, especially Laga'aia who not only outplayed his opposition but was by far the best SJRU prop!
This is exactly what happened to Trent Winterstein after the last years Regionals (i.e. was the best player and wasn't an original SJRU selection until the uproar of complaints).
.
But Newbie.. Arent you that coach ?
HJ,
I take my hat off to you Sir! Your sense of reason and perspective in these discussions is greatly appreciated!
It maybe a thought (and I know you have had extensive coaching experience from your earlier posts), have you considered going into the administrative side of the game? Perhaps you already have!
And what purpose would that serve? ...
This really sounds like an idea that has been hatched at the Lunatic Asylum known as Moore Park?
Haha LOL Huge...well said. This sounds like a recipe for disaster. Jobs for the boys and more ego stroking.
Unless the Schools boys are released, this will hardly be a representative Australian team, and unless they play against very carefully selected opponents, they will be a national embarrassment achieving results not dissimilar to those of Sydney Grammar in the AAGPS 1st XV competition.
The Peak bodies really need to sort out the BS between Aust Schools and Aust Juniors, and State Schools and State Juniors. So much waste, that we can ill afford.
If George is right regarding funding, I can also see some fairly serious push back from the Junior clubs, particularly those that don't field teams at High School ages.
If the snouts want an Australian Junior Rugby "Look At Me, I'm important" range of clothing, then FFS write to KooGa or Canterbury and buy the damn thing. A Decent showerproof jacket is only about $120. I am sure that they could afford that. Do not burdon ALL kids and parents in clubland.
This has Don Quixote written all over it, and appears to be the most ill considered concept I have heard of since the Peter Garratt Home Insulation fiasco.
Surely a cheaper option to stroke Mr Taylor's ego would be to establish an NSW JRU Presidents Honour Board like they do at Schools for the School Captain. Mr Taylor could have his name painted on that board, and received a nice plaque as well for his Pool Room. Far cheaper. Less impact. Taylor and cohorts egos should be satisfied.
