I don't have an issue with the identification of acts of foul play, W88, regardless of the team to which the perpetrator belongs - and they should all be punished accordingly. If the New #3 did what you're suggesting he did, then you should ask your school to pursue it further.

Definitely agree, but it doesn't appear as though it has been filmed in the footage above, slowed down frame by frame and released without player or parental consent.

Agree,

Waverley have to take a stand. Hopefully Newington will do the same for their number 3 who stomped on the Waverley 9's hand and broke his wrist. Can't help but notice that isn't in the video above though.

Waverley's #9 didn't leave the field injured, i don't think he has a broken wrist. Let alone having a broken wrist i don't think he was even stood on.

If you watch the video above, you can see the replacement halfback on the field with jersey #20.

Obviously it couldn't have been dirty play if the ref wasn't informed about it or saw it, if anything did happen it was an accident much like what happened to new's #10. Waverley's number 9 had an average game anyway, didn't have much self control with his discipline as well.

You need to sort out where you stand on this issue VBL - in post #374 you said that what happened as wrong, and yet now you're saying it was accidental and only deserved a penalty! I've watched the video, and the ref clearly blows his whistle for the knock-on, and yet the Waverley prop clearly set himself for a missile tackle at the unprepared (and therefore defenceless) player on the ground. It should have been a red card, and if there's any justice the player in question should be out of the game for at least as long as Bayley Kuenzle is. Will Waverley College do the right thing and impose their own sanction, or will the player in question be allowed to carry on the same way in the next game?

...... Not making excuses for the Waverley #1; it did look bad, especially in slow motion. But it happened quickly and the tackle, the pass from the ground and the Ref's whistle all happened almost simultaneously.

This is possibly true but he didn't have to flop onto the #10 in that way to begin. I think the Waverley boys were out there to cause havoc when they knew they were no match for New.

I'll just refer you to read the scholarship thread on that one.

No, i think that's rubbish about them wanting to cause havoc. From looking at the video I don't think he intended to flop onto the 10; he was rushing into the ruck area. But when the 10 passed from the ground he launched himself at him. He wouldn't have had time to stop when the Ref blew his whistle. As i said, in real time it all happened almost simultaneously.
Issuing a card was warranted but to suggest further action should be taken is an over reaction from watching the slow mo replay and the ensuing injury.

Thats possibly true but the Waverley boys were wanting trouble all game.

That can't be the excuse for Waverley's lack of discipline on the weekend?

No just pointing out that if Waverley was in fact "no match" for new and the score line was 27-19 this year and 29-24 last year, imagine the impact on their playing group without scholarships. Especially when Waverley seconds have beaten New both years.

That was New's 3rd training session i had been told, and from Waverley sources i was told they were relatively confident due to their 7's at scots and 6 weeks of training prior specifically to beat New. New still had players out, and I'm sure Waverley have a few boys on scholarships which there is nothing wrong with.

General warning.

Do not feed the trolls. Hit the report button.

Enough discussion about the alleged foul play at Newington. If you feel strongly about the issue, then take up the discussion with the Head of School, or the Sports Master at your affiliated School.

No more discussion of foul play in the New V Wav game will be tolerated.

Leave the scholarship talk to the appropriate thread, not here.

Riverview brush off a gutsy scots team to win 24-12.

Big players for view:

Tommy Silk: couple of great runs and some great defence

Jake Pirina: scored 2 tries via some big runs down the flanks

Chris Scott: good mongrel throughout the game and some great breakdown work

Scots 15, 2 and 8 some big digs for the bagpipe boys in a nice affair at View.

Do you have lists of whom played for both TSC and SIC?

Fair enough. In regards to Billy Smith "having more of an impact" than Will Terry - Terry and Dom Easy (12) were both training with the Australian 7's U18's squad on the weekend, and even had training that morning of the game. That may offer an explanation.

Didn't know that. Thanks. Yeah does explain why Will had an uncharacteristicly quite match (by his standards).

His powerful display in the 7s tournament at Scots the previous weekend was a key factor in Views semi final win over Scots, as mentioned in my review.

http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/kings-nz-win-scots-7s-in-thriller/

But even though Will may have been fatigued last Saturday in the XVs trial , Billy Smith (brother of Charlie) still had a big impact on the game scoring one try that reminded me in many ways of Will on the rampage.

No doubt both players will be a big handful in this year's 1st XV season.

Cheers

I was always an advocate of the talent of Dom Easy, but never did I suspect that he could knock off Jake Pirina from the centres pairing, particularly as a 16 year old.

Seems to be holding his own so far, good runner of the ball, but his tackling could use some work.

Riverview are shaping up very nicely from what I've seen so far. With plenty of players returning from last year, I expect three to push for Schoolboy status (Terry, Fenn and Rorke). Watch out for the blue and white

After watching the God Son. The thing I would say about Riverview is if the 10 continues to play well behind the line it takes out the strength of there back row. As well if point of attack is terry in that Chanel. Makes it very easy to slide in defence. Which I think scots did well
