High are actually playing against St Andrews Cathedral School. Probably not a bad matchup

Joeys team today. No BBQ. Serious error in catering judgement.

Riverview brush off a gutsy scots team to win 24-12.

Big players for view:

Tommy Silk: couple of great runs and some great defence

Jake Pirina: scored 2 tries via some big runs down the flanks

Chris Scott: good mongrel throughout the game and some great breakdown work

Scots 15, 2 and 8 some big digs for the bagpipe boys in a nice affair at View.

Shore ovet Trinity in half 1 19-5 (3 tries to 1)

Half 2: Shore over Stannies 17-5 (3 tries to 1 also)

Both entertaining games. shore did throw the ball and tried to score some tries.

View 24 - Scots 12. But much closer than score suggests.

With 5 mins to go and View up 17 - 12, Scots went within inches of scoring a try to equalise. With 1 min to go, View score converted try and score went to 24 - 12.

Was 7-7 at half time and Scots up 12 - 7 five mns into second half.

Two of View tries scored off Scots kick mishaps. One charge down. One failure to find touch.

Set piece very even. View dominated loose forward exchanges. Scots scrambling defence outstanding. Battle of 13s fascinating with Smith (Scots) making bigger impact on match than Terry (View).

Standouts. Scots 2. View 11

Wilkinson and Reily the standouts for Joeys, although the backline in general were pretty slick. Feltis, Dalton and Tuinakauvadra the best in the pack.

Blaise Barnes came off in the first few minutes with a knee injury, hopefully it's not as bad as last year.

Not sure if you were watching a different game mate.

View defended for most of the game and Scots were unable to crack the defence. View should have scored 3-4 more times but lacked execution in the latter stages on some phases during the game.

@HJ, here to serve Sir.

Can do something along the lines of last year. But just wondering if the very talented Web developer folk at G&G could do something a bit more professional?

I would support 1st 2nd and 3rds comp, makes it harder and more interesting and then Jim Belshaw can play as well."

.
I do thank you. Getting myself ready for the comp, although I don't have a feel for this year yet. TAS open teams were playing St Alberts College (UNE) today but no idea on results. Even if I had them, that might not help! No idea of the strength of Albies.

I have no idea how this year's comp will go. I am expecting some good rugby.

For those readers with UNE connections, the Redmen are back. I still have my jersey. This weekend is the first game of the newly reformed Wright College

Haha. Was going to ask same question of you after reading your initial appraisal but thought better. 'Brushed off' is a huge call for a game decided with 1 min to go.

Should have scored 3 or 4 times reminds me of wallabies v Scotland at RWC. Thing is they didn't.

I agree View were better side and deserved to win. But brushed aside creates impression that they never got out of second gear.

Just felt I needed to provide some balance. That's all

I'm sure we all remember last year when Kings " brushed aside " Scots in a trial then they went on to loose round 1 and win a third premiership on the run ........ I personally doubt that will be repeated this year but humility at this stage of the season should be spread like fresh butter on warm bread at cadet camp ...... if you can get it ....... nice and thick

Interesting that the airdrop ... Triston Reilly made the joeys team

Riverview will be frothing at the mouth ... Or will at least asterisk it in the programme

Lot of kids from 16As seemed to have cracked it ... So youngish team

Either way joeys are firming as favourites ... At least in my mind

That joeys backline will take some stopping
