I see Joeys were done by a good oak hill team.

What I don't get, at least over the last several years, is how complete dominance across 90% of joeys teams doesn't translate to success at the top grade

Oak hill has 6 teams in the opens to joeys 13

It must be something joeys isn't doing as opposed to something they are doing?!

Take for example joeys doesn't seem to do tours, the trial match process how does that work . The athletes just swan into their pre ordained spots?

Not sure but must be some change needed . Otherwise be same result.

Either way think this years comp is going to be a great one . With scots not to be as dominant as they were in 2014 imho

Oakhill were good; Joeys were poor today in execution. The only change they need to make has already been made by moving Athletics to term 3. Combinations were a bit rusty for sure and the team should change next week otherwise it will be a long season.

Joeys had momentum in second half but didn't capitalise through errors and good defence from Oakhill. Couple of forwards missing could have provided more grit to the forwards. I hope next week is better.

Who were the standouts for the joeys boys? Unlucky loss for them, thought they would have had the game in the bag but I guess they are just coming together for the first time since the Athletics season!

Typically ISA Div 1 is decided by the Oakhill v Augies game, with the Waratah Shield match being the rematch between the two, and typically it has the opposite result to the ISA game. Time for ISA Div 1 to go to two rounds?

No stand outs.

Gittoes, Horton, Anderson were solid in forwards. Clements solid. Everyone else rusty as expected. Next week will see a big improvement.

I would trial Dylan Grant and Jaffer-Williams, both looked good in seconds.

I went out to Joeys to see the game against Oakhill - I could have got the best seat in the house - there was nobody there.

I'm not having a great run in this regard: I went to see the Tahs play the Rebels and showed up at Allianz at Moore Park on Anzac Day. Got there early but the members car park was full - and there was a roar from the crowd in the stadium.

I thought - that must be a decent curtain raiser but when I got to see what was going on the Roosters were playing the Dragons.

The penny dropped and I high-tailed out to ANZ.

Nothing to do with GPS ??

You're right - carry on.

How good was Goddard [Oakhill no 9], his distribution so accurate and his conversion from the touchline was the difference between the '3 tries a piece' scoreline.

We're doing a preview of the GPS season and want to put against each team how they performed in trials.

The details of trials are scattered throughout the posts so if forum members could give just a sentence or two about the trials of the schools they follow it would be appreciated.

Include the correct order they played - the results, if known, but at least if they won/lost - and whether or not they had their athletes available for each of the games.

Hey, and why not help the writer by giving your opinion about who the three best players are likely to be for the season for the school: 1. (best) 2. and 3 - and why.

Thank you.

I remember years ago going out to watch Joeys play at home and decided to take myself on a tour around the school.
I saw, in various nooks and crannies, various junior teams huddled , getting well prepared and enthused by at least 2 coaches and various other on-lookers.
It occurred to me that Joeys approach the game with a passion not matched by other junior teams.
By the time you get to the 1's and 2's the coaching is more evenly spread among the schools.

But it tends to be top heavy with coaching - and the same with the level of players in some teams (cough, cough).

I doubt if there are many schools who get better coaching than Joeys across the board.
