On a brighter note at Northbridge it was a much better performance by the local boys.Up 5-0 after 20 mins the Shore forwards were retaining the ball .at last and the backs spearheaded by #15 Lachie Patrick were putting pressure on the Joey's backs.# 9 Oscar Lane converted this pressure with a darting run to score. Joeys bounced back to lead 7-5 till just before halftime. Shore were on top until a poor kick was charged down with Joys going in under the posts now 14-7.
After the break Shore had the breeze but a tactical blunder by the inside backs saw them trying to run it out from the inside the 22.A bad pass and knock on then lead to a Joeys try ,now down 21-7 which really broke the Shore boys hearts , as the were really neck and neck in terms of general play.

Joeys scored again not long after to go to 28-7 and things started to look grim .Gittoes was leading the pack well and Joeys were starting to roll .
However Shore came back and strong games from Jake Hedge , captain Bragg , "Rabs" Santone and Rory Suttor up front kept the game alive.
Oscar Lane was having a great game driving the forwards and sniping around the rucks.
Sam Allen had another strong game against the hard running Eddy King, Shore scored towards the end with Jake hedge finishing of a good move to score near the posts. It was a good entertaining game to finish off the season.
Shore should have a good team next year barring injury They will have #9 Haskins,12 Sinclair, 11 Gregory 15 Sheehan and the speedster 14 or 15 Rixon in the backs. Up front they will have # Luke Edwards now year 10 an outstanding talent ,Rory Suttor at 5 and Robin Allen at 6.
.Former wallaby Tim Wallace's son played 10 in the 2nds all year and lead them around the park really well.So if they get the bright people in charge they will have a much better year.
Well done to all boys from all teams who played some fabulous footy this year and congrats to New and Scots who both showed their true ability by being able to come from behind in games that seemed lost.
Cheers for 2015 its been fun.

Great footy report.... But how were the pies?

Newington v View was definitely the best game of rugby I,ve witnessed this year...it had it all...intimidation , suspense, excitemement , frustration , anger, joy, seesawing scorelines....and I wasn't even playing!
I did feel that the start of the game with the New boys (and old boys?) crowding into the faces of the View boys at the half way line was a tad OTT but it certainly set the tone for an incredibly exciting game. Alas for View it was a case of when is a ruck an actual ruck but , c'est la vie, its the end of a great season...bring on 2016!

How did they get the trophy down to New so quickly? I noticed they were holding it as soon as the game finished. I thought it would have been in Scot's possession from 2014 and that they would have taken it with them out to TKS.

Maybe because Newington never lost to Scots and had a better points difference

@Beard, is that just the games against AAGPS opponents?

There are either 41 or 42 Teams at Joeys. How did the Joe Boys fare in the "pick up" games against non AAGPS school teams - about 8 - 10 of these each week?

I think the number of Round 3 games may be lacking a digit, probably 29 games - 22 v NEW and 7 v SGS?

@Hugh Jarse that's correct it's AAGPS opponents.. I can get the full list but it can be a bit less reflective as they often need to play internally or match their sides against higher opponents to get them a game.

The round 3 figure is accurate, it was a wet weekend and Newington isn't fielding as many rugby sides in 2015 as it has done previously the following games were played v Newington:
1st XV
2nd XV
16A's, 15A's, 15C's v Joeys 15E's, 14 A's and 13A's

The other 2 games were v Grammar:
3rd v Grammar 1st XV and Joeys 5th v Grammar 2nds

There were other games on this weekend as there are every other weekend against touring sides and other schools but all in all Joeys win/loss ratio for the entire year was 82.2% which included internals and all games. Up from last years 80%

A Fabulous and remarkable result a credit to all the coaching staff at Joey's for setting such high standards.

I know is a great result but all is matter is the first XV that count the most. Whens the last time Joey won the first XV ??
Talk about talent they got the most team but they havent go close yet...

depends on where you put the emphasis on success of your rugby program, I tend to disagree with your thinking.

While winning a 1st XV Premiership is an outstanding achievement in itself and Joeys certainly enjoy collecting them like notches on a bedhead, but seeing a program that produces in excess of 600 young men that could put you on your head... that kind of warms my heart.
