May not have had the success of Scots or other GPS schools this season. But the shore first 15 boys never said die. Great vid of running rugby, this video especially does Matt Dowsett some justice on his great season.
The video really does show matt dowsetts excellence, I'm very surprised he didn't get rewarded with further honour!

It may be just a coincidence but I noticed not all schools featured in the Shore highlights reel.

Dowsett looks outstanding. Contratulations to Shore on what looks to be a start of a renaissance for the blue and whites.

It also coincided with Scots' record 100 point flogging of a team with 2 Australian schoolboys, which seemed to be the subject of most articles I read.
It's interesting, though, that you think Riverview has the ability to completely influence the reporting of multiple news outlets.

Sarcasm aside, there was definitely a psychological element to it - they wanted to change the approach and calculus of Scots and the GPS, and - given the news reports and statements of various headmasters - it may have worked.

To suggest that Riverview had anything to fear from a Scots trial/7s comp is folly, especially after their testing performances against Scots.

I think it is only fair to assume that all sides would have a tournament (season) strategy. It would be only reasonable for View to see Scots as its biggest threat, and you can decide for yourself which team would be at an advantage by avoiding a preseason trial.
As far as the media coverage went you could only conclude that the wallaby greats that were quoted were in-fact misquoted and that the whole episode was a disgrace, making the come from behind win all the sweeter. What it shows is that anyone can influence the press if they want to confabulate a story that gets someone in the neck.

Righto, boys, how 'bout you agree to differ and get on with discussing rugby. This petty "right", "wrong", etc., is becoming tiresome.

Looks like they've spent a whole afternoon staging the introduction, better spent studying in my view. Whoever picked the audio should be sacked for next year. It's a shame the composition feels a bit like a movie trailer, wouldnt look out of place at Event Cinemas.

Does anyone have a rundown on which Colts sides players are going to?

Scott's pulled out of the trial not view from memory ?

I'm not sure it rally matters who did what in the trials. Scots won, Riverview came 2nd, which is probably a fair indication of the strength of both teams.

He said, she said, and my big brother is stronger than yours... It matters little about what may have been motivating factors behind which school played which school in a trial, or attended which tournament, prior to the start of the season which has just finished.

Some posts will be trimmed as a consequence.

Move on.

Agree and it was 2 good teams and one a bit stronger but just wanted the conspiracy theory quashed !!

Whilst there are a few comments that can be made about the above results, the most interesting but not surprising fact, is that in 10 rounds of rugby Scots did not kick/take a penalty goal.

Good luck to all the boys and thanks for providing an entertaining year of rugby.

There is a blog up reviewing the 2014 GPS season.

http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/nsw-gps-2014-season-review/

Please let me know, in this thread, if you notice any clangers and I will correct them.

(And I don't mean errors in our selection of the GPS team of the year - they reflect the opinions of the selectors.)

But if you want to discuss the review, please do it there so we can get a feeling if these kind of things are worthwhile doing every year.

Thanks

Top Try Scorers you left out Matt Dowsett Shore (No13) -7 so it would also put him with 35 points

Dowsett is quick.
Like many 13s though he needs to be prepared to take on his man on the outside - back himself: he will not be hanged if he fails and with his pace he will beat more men than he doesn't.
Is he Year 12 - if so where is he playing next year?
