I agree Micheal, Fitzpatrick to have a strong season at Shore this year. Definitely pushing GPS 1sts/2nds as well as Pulver (9)

GPS Hookers -
Shore- Harrison Marshal (3rds 2011) ,
View- Barker
Kings - Harry Randle (1st 2011)
Joeys - Kian Heffernan (2nds 2011), Chris Goldie (16A's)
Newington- David Vea (1st 2011)
Scots - ??? unsure

All based on last years team, not sure on accuracy but few suggestions for hookers in the gps comp.

Have also heard Sam Kitchen

Barker and Vea are the standouts in the players you have named although Heffernan goes ok. I thought that Randle was a flanker..pretty sure he played in that position for NSW schools U16s in 2010.

Any ideas on what your thoughts are on about the 2012 GPS schoolboys and also the boys from the GPS that will maybe make an Australian schoolboy representative team???

lets just hope that a debacle similar to the Kulen,Roods,Barrett one of last year doesn't present itself

If not already attended to, could folks please list the dates, start times and venues for trial games as info comes to hand - and do that for any other schools competition in the country, in the appropriate thread?

Thank you.

Thanks for the info but again, I can't stress enough: how will any grammar and high players be selected for GPS given the fact they play no other gps schools before the gps selections. I'm pretty sure that some players from both schools represented gps under sixteens.

This has been an issue for years.
If there were kids from either school in u16s then they'll be in the frame: yet another example of the underlying assumption in Australian rugby that by 14, 15 or 16 the die is cast.

Just back from a holiday and have been out of the loop. Who won the Investec 7's at Scots a few weeks back?

It would be a great pity if the performance of this years Grammar opens dictates what happens for the next few years at Grammar. This years 16A's at Grammar will be physically able, if low on skills. They are nearly all year 10. The forwards are nearly all rowers (eg strong enough) and are competitive. They wont win much, but they wont get flattened either. Their worst results last year were around 50-0 to Riverview , which is poor but not a complete disaster. They got close to Scots and werent too far from Newington etc. They are a close knot group, and enjoy their footy. There is a strange parent ethos at Grammar where fast talented kids who could be good backs often end up in Soccer because their parents actually ban them from Rugby for reasons which are inexplicable. Its frustrating, but that's life.

Lloyd Mcdermott won the entire competition, beating View in the final 15 - 7 (or around that). Shore lost to view in the semi's 15 - 0 and Scots lost to Lloyd Mcdermott, not sure about the score though.

very true about the soccer thing with grammar.....although those who could be "good backs" can't play rugby. It is indeed a very arrogant atmosphere in their soccer games. Bunch of spoiled phalluses if you ask me.....

Are the lloyd Mcdermott team an aboriginal development squad because ive never heard of them before.....congrats on their win
