Any updated injury news for view this weekend?
sorry for not reading the earlier comment from Gristlechewer but thats my point will the 16s for new be able to be up to scratch and provide reinforcements for the squad.Quoting Gristlechewer :
"it is interesting that the 1st XV for Newington has a somewhat even spread of year 11's and year 12's in their team, yet next year come the 150th year they will have to have a dominant year 12 team as their 16s or the future year 11s seem understrength and lack the ability and skill of other future year 11 GPS school year groups at the moment. "
From what I know the bulk of the backline in the 1sts are year 11 including the "master blasters" Milne & Tepai! The engine room has quite a few year 12 boys. They seem to be well covered with year 11 boys from the 2nds in the forwards with Tim Lee, Stuart Mill, Tom Meaney, Anthony Vasilis, George Prassas etc. all playing good rugby.

Jack was unlucky but he missed out to two fine Queensland players.I am very surprised Jack Johnson from Waverley has missed out on the tour squad, unless he is injured he is a standout player
Hi guys
Like to lay claim to it but 'twerent me. Please reread previous posts
all goodApologies Guys! The quote should have been attributed to GPSrow ( at post 2177 )!

Michael Gunn from Churchie was outstanding playing the 7. position for Oz Schools v. Tonga last month, and Brad Wilkin of Iona College (who missed the 2012 Oz Schools tournament because of injury) got the award for the best player of the 2011 Oz U/16 tournament.
.
also i wonder which are other GPS schools 1sts/2nds teams have players that have begun at GPS prep schools, i wonder how many more there are...
regardless of the talk of scholarships
Guys, please note we have a thread to discuss imports and this is not it.This i can imagine will open a pandoras box so to speak.
As a spectator at the Sydney high 1st XV vs shore 3rd XV played on the weekend, I would like to comment on the standard of the referee. The reff seemed to 'miss' several knock ons amongst many other things and some have said he prevented shore from a win. The game was very evenly matched and I thought shore deserved a win. I feel for the shore coaches and players who undoubtably would have been dissapointed with the result. In saying that the high team did play well and were also helped along by the referee. High look like a favourite for a 3rd XV premiership in 2012!!
+ Buchanan-Reeks (11)In shore's current 1sts, only 1 player didn't start in year 7 (5) Fisburn and 3 were in the prep school (1) McCathie, (8) Buckling and (9) Pulver.
I have to say I was also at the High vs Shore game and disagree completely with the comment above. As an unbiased spectator the High team were penalized 16-6 at final count of game. Certainly done no favours by the referee. It was a tough old game, their 12 is outstanding, played a good game and broke the line several times. It's good to see High rugby on the rise. They have produced many players for Australia and deserved the win. Other teams will under estimate them at their own risk, as I understand they have also beaten Newington.

Sydneybra - "They only beat an under strengthened Newington B side.. I thought we had covered this, and that team in particular is basically a socials team no one really tries that hard"
If Newington are going to field an 'understrength social team' then they deserve to lose, that doesn't take anything away from the High boys..
I find this Thread disturbing as it infers that the only legitimate players are those that started in the prep.
Our boys who are boarders from the country did not start until year 9 due to the drought. Are they not real schoolboy footballers?
