How i think he is the most exciting year 10 playing, Joeys- Deegan= Stand and deliver to Barclay and Le Levire, Sandell and penisi= work hard but aren't the best in the Pack. Lussik= stand and deliver, cracks under pressure. Kellaway and redden will be the 2 exciting prospects this season, they are easily the stand outs

they arent easily stand outs tigers fan.....they are just as good as the others

she was reincarnated as The Blindside...

i kid i kid. But seriously, gogpsrugby how do you know those boys are doing pathways? is this for certain or just speculation? And yes perhaps we should save that for next year's thread, feel free to start it as soon as this season's over (although you should probably wait a few months...)

also regarding Baldwin, how long is he out for?

Does anyone know who the referee was for the Shore v Joeys game last week in the 1st XV? Have heard a lot of people suggest he struggled a little... Would just be interested to know who it was.

Yeah - it was Tim Wills. He went OK I thought, but missed a few things such as goal line defence of both sides being off side. There were quite a few knocks on that were let go because they were marginal and because the ball and the players hands were a bit muddy from the wet cricket pitch area. I thought it was appropriate.

Once Joeys knocked the ball three times in a row, but just not forward in my opinion, and the Shore supporter next to me said: "How many knock-ons does he have to see?" I said: "He's looking for one."

Had to mention that; it was my best line of the day.

he was up to it - for the most part all the referees i have seen on GPS / CAS 1s this season have been impressive compared to some of the dross that was appointed in 2009 & 2010 especially

Backrow spots please ???

I have now seen all of the top sides play:

IMO if they are picking on form the backrows should be:

GPS 1s - 6. Dempsey 7. Walters 8. Wells
GPS 2s - 6. Pior Lees 7. Baldwin (Hall if Baldwin is injured 8. Miller
GPS 3s - 6. ???? 7. May 8. Whiteley

Of course what they should pick and what they end up picking are often very different... Luani and Wells made Australian Schools from GPS 2 and 3s respectively, so as long as they are getting seen that is the main thing.

I don't think anyone can rule out Scots's number 6 Barakat, He played GPS and NSW 2's last year at prop, and has brought fearless aggression to the Scots pack. Is it likely that the selectors might pick him at prop? Because I know that he has played all his games so far this year at 6.

Dempsey has been the best backrower I have seen in GPS this year based on a huge sample of one trial game.

dermo

Larry Dwyer (12)
Who is expected to hold down the GPS number 10? I have seen a few of the fly halfs this season and none have really caught my eye as they are mostly just catching and passing it on to bigger centres.

A player to watch is Alex Newsome. 5/8 for St Josephs 2nd XV. He is a very exciting player and has a bright future ahead of him. His skill is phenomenal and hes only 16 this year

Vaux of View and King of Shore would be the front runners of the lads I have seen and probably in that order. Somebody asked me if the View backs were any good and I gave them faint praise, but I was thinking about wider out for some senior reason and overlooked Vaux.

gogpsrugby

Is it you or a mate and you're talking him up? That's not on. If he is so good, especially as you praised him to the skies in your deleted post last night, how come he can't get into the Joeys Ones ahead of Deegan who is also U/16 qualified?

Haven't seen king of Shore yet.

Vaux of View I didn't find too impressive against Kings in the trials but he had a blinder against Newignton on the weekend. His service was crisp and his defence was scary. Many times when defending off line-out's and scrums on his own line did he stop the backline move with a big hit before it could get past the first receiver...

I recall the King's 10 looking very good but I cant remember names...

I've actually seen the view, new, kings, scots and joeys 5/8's all play so far this year and do think the scots guy had been the best, the new 5/8 had the best defense but he's now injured.

5/8 for Kings was Jack Tourish ( apologies if spelling not correct). A very solid young man.
Can anyone add any information re John Vaux from View - believe he was concussed quite badly last weekend - and how long he might be out for, if correct ?

dermo

Larry Dwyer (12)
The Shore 5/8 from what i saw had a solid kicking game in particular some of his kicks into the corner we near perfect, seemed solid in defense but didnt do alot in attack. I have the same opinion of Vaux seems solid in defense but from what i saw he didnt seem to do anything in paticular in attack.

Could 5/8 be the weakness for the GPS sides? They will ahve very solid forward packs, good halves and slick centres and outside backs but no link to use all the resources.

At the end of day with the likes of Stewart and Roods in the centres no matter how good the 5/8 is he will just be passing the ball onto the quality outside him.

If that really is the case, then a good choice for the selectors would be the current Scots 10, Horwitz. Superb ball distribution skills, which he showcased against Kings. Solid-enough defence as well. But to me, it looks like the flyhalf position is definitely not set, I wouldn't put it past the selectors to make a decision that surprises everybody.
