Stuart is the goods, but I hear that one good hit to his knee and he will be out again....
I'm very new to this.....well done all, great reading...some of the detail you blokes go into is amazing......anybody else catch the GPS rugby artical in todays DailyTelegraph (NSW) pg79. looks as though it's going to be regular....good to see Sydneys' premier schoolboy competition get some coverage...

You need a good 5/8 to get the ball out and out quickly, problem new have had since losing macdonald is their halves aren't up to first standard and that has slowed their centre combination down. Roods needs to be on the attack when the ball gets to him not starting from a standing position, so who ever they pick lets hope they can do that!

Someone mentioned the tip tackle from Joeys

It was a dangerous tackle, theres no doubt about that, he lifted him well past 90 degrees. But it was his first possible card offence of the match and in my opinion it did not deserve a card, just a full arm.

I would be careful in saying those things about Stuart. For all we know he could be at full strength. As well as that, it would be terrible for a player to get it into his mind that he should smash him and try and put him out for the season, careers could get ruined that way.

Haven't seen king of Shore yet.

Vaux of View I didn't find too impressive against Kings in the trials but he had a blinder against Newignton on the weekend. His service was crisp and his defence was scary. Many times when defending off line-out's and scrums on his own line did he stop the backline move with a big hit before it could get past the first receiver...

I recall the King's 10 looking very good but I cant remember names...

Kings have actually gone through three different 10s at this point so it all depends on which game you were watching. If he was small with head gear it was Wylie, if he was short but reasonably built it was Atallah and if it was a big monster who looks like a front rower it was Tourish.

Vaux would've been my pick for the GPS 1s with McDonald injured but someone said he got concussed? So if he is out injured, then perhaps Horwitz from Scots.

The Kings 5/8 against Scots was definitely Tourish, one of the biggest 10's i've seen (and it showed in his defence), looks like he would be more useful at inside. Kings could then move Faketi into an outside back position, cause I don't think he played to his full potential at 12.

Against View they played two fly-half's.

The big guy and a smaller bloke. The one I liked was the smaller guy however he wasn't in headgear...

The smaller guy was Wylie..... played up until last 15 minutes against Riverview...Tourish then came on.
Both good players however with different skillsets. Both have played a lot of rep Rugby in their junior years.
Wylie tenacious in defence but lacks size.
Tourish has size and an amazing kick plus will convert goals from anywhere ....occasionally lacking in defence though as was seen against Scots....two tries straight thru the 5/8 channel.
Foteki outside him also to take some responsibility there.....this kid ( Foteki ) really looks to be a talent but I also think he needs to be moved out wider to give him more space to weave his magic feet!!!! My guess is the Kings backline is a work in progress......
Kings also suffered a nasty looking injury to their lock and captain at the conclusion of the Scots game...Anyone Know any news on how serious??
Good luck and swift recovery to the young man anyhow.

Thats a good first post stem. Welcome. Thanks for the info. I liked Wylie, he looked good however, with deficiencies in defence, it looks at this stage between the Scots, View and Shore 10's. Looking forward to seeing the Scots and Shore 10's play...

I think i would like to see the Shore 5/8 picked, as his tactical kicking game is of high quality. Last week in the Joeys game he put in some very good kicks in to the Joeys corner after some strong mauling as pick and drives from the forwards. With the fantastic forwards the GPS team will consist of i think the coach of the team would be well advised to play a largely forwards based game and the kicking game of the kid could be very helpful

I'm not sure that the quality centre pairing of Stewart and Roods would like that game plan to much... Yes they should be playing to win, but there is no need for the GPS to adopt a kicking and territory game. They will be strong across the park - give them a couple of starter plays and simple strucure and let them play. My tip is they will absolutely smash CAS this year and most likely CHS as well. The backrow and centres in particular are very strong and will be where the team makes its inroads.

Debrezini from Trinty is a standout at no 10, hard to see anyone coming close to him.

GPS Selections next week. Does anybody have a potential team's for 1st's and 2nd's?
The hooker role seems to be wide open...I know that Harry Randell, who was u/16 NSW schools open side last year has been playing hooker for Kings, but he cant throw...
