That result will mean the end of Grammar playing against the first 15s of the other schools for some time. Congratulations to the headmasters and trustees over the past 30 years for an excellent effort.

How do you figure that - i.e. what is the basis of your statement?

Betting sides like TAS & grammar by 50+ helps no one & is detremenial to those schools & the GPS comp over time - as we are seeing.

One of my best mates now was Grammar 1st XV & 1st VIII in early 90s & is now a highly successful partner in a law firm. So I would guess an outcome what grammar or any private school would want. He now has two sons who he would like to sent to Grammar but tells me that he will not be able to confirm this until they do academic tests in years to come so he has to also book them into shore just in case. (don't worry I have let him know the score today v Scots & that he should not waste his money entry fees to Grammar)

As a side issue GPS needs to play 2 rounds.

In that case its not as if he was there during any sort of stellar period (in rugby or rowing) - sounds like he was in the 1st XV during the 12 years when they did not win a game.

It has been considered by the powers that be for some time. This season was the end I understand of an age group that could compete. Apparently it's downhill from this year's model. The headmaster is unlikely to allow them to play when they cannot even approach this year's standard.

Those "powers that be" sure get around. There's no doubt that Grammar 16s are particularly ordinary but their 15s may be able to plug some gaps. So the GPS seasons is shortened from 6 to 5 games: wonder if Deans knew that and thats why he only signed on for 2 more years........seems to me like the ARU needs to look at some alternative club based comp for all u 18s to play in

GPS needs to go to a ten game, home and away based competition. Six teams being View, Joeys, Shore, New, Scots and Kings. Grammar could play with Shore and High could play with Scots - say at 3rd XV level.

Why not revamp the comp. completely and bring in Knox, Barker, Cranbrook, Trinity, Waverley, etc. Even then have a 2 tier comp in which Grammar and High compete. That would then show who did have the best team!

That is a great achievement, well done Joeys. While there's a focus on the 1sts, this sort of performance across the ages and their various grades is the essence of schoolboy Rugby. Those kids will fondly remember their teams and their mates

Joeys is a wonderful rugby school and will always be the benchmark but they clearly lack the talent of previous years. I felt sorry for the Joeys 10. For some of the nonsense I've read here, he was out of his depth physically. He should have been playing 16A's and I hope for his sake his development as a player hasn't been hurt. Hopefully he will be a key contributor in 2012.

I though Deegan had another blinder today. Although his attack this year has not been great, he runs well and with Kay at 12 he hasnt had as much pressure on him in the last two games. Yesterday he was hands down the best defender on ground.

While his attacking skills may have been muted this year, Deegan will be stronger for the experience as will all the younger players chosen who also won their spots on merit.
