NSW AAGPS 2025

He's cast the line, will anyone take the bait? Ahh classic reply fishing, not the first time that's been said. But I will take a nibble, Here is my predicted ladder
1. View
2. Joeys
3. Shore
4. Kings
5. Scots
6. Newington

controversial list but i believe the rowing school will get up for first and I know scot's don't look on the team list like they will come 5th but i just don't see them beating anyone in the top 4.

Now, boys it is my turn to 'cast the line'. Thoughts on this?

Trial matches coming up hope the teams follow SJC and use them as trials and mix and match to see the new combinations, players in various positions and the U16 moving up to Opens. Too often teams pick and stick early.

Very early thoughts on GPS 1 side for this year. Not sure if 6,7, & 8 are in the right spots, but I would think all 3 would be in the site. Couple of positions that I see it very even and could go either way.

1. Lavercombe (K)
2. Ghattas (SJC) or Smith (K)
3. Sheck (N)
4.
5.
6. Fanua (K)
7. Taumoepeau (SJC)
8. Lemoto (S)
9. Grover (I)
10. Large (S) or Sawyer (K)
11. Makasini (N)
12. Gough (SJC)
13.
14.
15. Bassingthwaighte (E) or Palmasani (SJC)

Personally I would take Callaghan (E) over Bassingthwaite (E) at 15 - Bassingthwaite does have a size advantage but these days I'm seeing more and more success in players who "break the mold", and Callaghan is nothing but creative on the pitch. I've also been interested in Stock (E), he could be an interesting pick in the 2 row. He's one of the stronger ball carriers I've witnessed, and in general he's one of the more well rounded players I've seen. Interested to hear other's thoughts, as he seems to go unnoticed by the Green and Gold rumor mill.

Didn't think of Callaghan. He would definitely be in the mix for sure. Plenty of lads to select from in that position it seems

I think Newington could be the dark horses this year with one of the best backlines I've seen in a while with players like Keone not going to try to spell his last name, Jarryd King, Heamasi Makasini, Callum Grantham, Bailey Roberts and new kid Kden Carter who was in the 16s Waratahs team last year. As well as having U18 Waratahs prop Isiah Sheck,Iliyaz Viliamu and Dylan Simmons in their forward pack. They could seriously cause some upsets this year and who knows perhaps take it out.

New year, same hype around the "individuals" of Newington. I see them more at Sydney Airport than on the scoreboard; at this rate, their real home ground is Terminal 1!

G'day green and gold, welcome back to another year. I have read over a couple of posts about the fullback spot being up for grabs this year in the AAGPS team. However, i hope we can recognise greatness whilst he is still here. Jai Callaghan will be the fullback this year, and will be the best player in the GPS. Lets recognise this man, and give him the spotlight he will soon be receiving.

Hi there @Professor62 nice to see you again. Watching his highlight video he certainly likes a run and has a good swerve. He would one to watch in broken play.

Newington boys spending more time in Duty Free than in D — Defence. Might as well check their bags for missed tackles and ego. Terminal 1's the only place they’re cleared for takeoff.

Could not agree more! I enjoy watching him play because I genuinely don’t know what he is going to do when he gets the ball which indeed a rarity in the modern game with our over coached system based players that “stick to the structure”
give him good ball and give him early ball!
