i have got to say, Tancred (I) had a cracking game today. He really stood out in the scrums, holding his ground and making sure the team stayed solid up front. His technique was spot-on, he was getting his body position just right and gave the opposition no chance to push through. It was clear that he’s been putting in the work in that area, and it paid off big time.
But it wasn’t just about the scrums. His work rate was through the roof. He was everywhere, covering every inch of the field, always in the mix, whether it was getting stuck into rucks, making tackles, or offering support in attack. It was like he never ran out of steam. You could see the effort in everything he did, and it really lifted the team.

They probably would have in the last 10 but already had blokes on due to injury.
He probably would be best at 15 with space but looking at that Shore side he needs to touch the ball every couple of phases if their any shot of getting a win so that means have the 10 on his back.
Someone should definitely talk to a kid like that about which sport holds the longest future for you. League may pay more to the average player but physically where do you fit once trying to crack a NRL top 30? Halfbacks are the only spot for a small fast body now but Rugby sides can have a Fly Half, Wing or Fullback at that size. Look at Mac Grealy in the year just gone.

Yes, I watch all of the games.
The only one here I would count as semi-controversial was Grantham (N), he had a few moments of magic to keep New in it, but also a few shockers. I couldn’t see a better fullback this round though.

In watching this game, there were definitely missed calls, BOTH ways. This happens in the game. Advice would be to learn what the ref concentrates on and adapt your style of play to avoid unnecessary infringements.

Good morning to all my fellow G&G members, what an end to another great week of schoolboy footy!
Would like to quickly give my 2 cents on the games from Thursday:
Joeys: Finn Hannon SHOULD be the 10 for GPS 1s, and Minto is pushing as well
Shore: Stock and Clout SHOULD be in the GPS 2s or higher after their performances
Riverview: Campell Conna IS the darkhorse for GPS 1s, Grover SHOULD be the skipper
Scots: If Lemoto puts his hand up he WILL be in GPS 1s
Newington: Keone and Villiamu are definently pushing for higher squad selections than first anticipated
Kings: Came into the season with a loss and were not looking to be the "strongest" team in the competition but have found some very good form, for this age group to have lost to Shore 13As 44-0 back in 2020, they have certainly improved. From Kings i believe their N4 Rhys Perret is really finding his feet, and is very much a Darkhorse for the higher representative teams come selection wise in late June.

Risati’s back a few weeks after the holidays if all goes well. Sawyer just missed out yesterday, but he should be good for next week.
Kings have the mental toughness to go all the way this season. After a lapse in concentration that let Scots back in and underestimating View, their heads are now firmly in the game.
Joeys and New got shut down at every turn with punishing defence, aggressive line speed, and real intent. Yesterday’s kickoff set the tone a massive double hit from the Kingsmen and it continued all afternoon.
HUGE games from Wilson and Fonua. The work rate from #6 and #7 was off the charts. Kings looked dangerous every time they were in New’s half, synergy between the backs and forwards was spot-on.

Over the past decade I have battled with this experience. There have been on occasion very enjoyable experiences and unfortunately those that ended up with hired goons escorting me from the ground under orders from the Sith Council. Yesterday was a mix somewhat of both but as well heavily mixed in with some genuine good times.
On arrival at the Death Star I was greeted at the War Memorial gates by a very pleasant Scots mum. Lovely lady dropping of her son’s lunch. My eyes then caught sight of the Disney Scotswarts Castle. At any moment one would expect a princess to appear at a window and serenade us with a song. Only Scots could get the brief so wrong. With two classical building either side of this, the castle stands out like a cockroach on a pizza. While it is indeed an amazing building it is really should be built in Anaheim, USA. While it has been opened with a lavish, self-promoting performance that even Kim Jong Un would admire, it really is not finished. With no library, no Blackwatch Café the castle that vanity built has now exceeded $60 million. All this has assured is that Scots will continue to be the whipping boy of The Sydney Morning Herald’s anti independent school agenda. Even so, the boys love it and that is all that matters in the end. Enjoy the castle lads.
But soon I was greeted by many students including @RushingRob and @propsarespeedy speedy. They introduced me to many of their mates. They were great! Big smiles, firm handshakes and full of mischief. Lots of fun, laughs and exactly how remembered the Scots boy. Unfortunately, our little gathering was soon noted by the “fun police” staff who came and questioned me. I asked if I could walk down to the oval through the school escorted by a staff member. NO. I was then directed to walk down to the Royle House entrance of the main oval. Even though it was obvious I now use a walking stick no sympathy was shown by the Stormtroopers.
After a long and uncomfortable walk I soon found a descent spot with a chair supplied by an old friend from Scots which was much appreciated. Throughout the game I met many Scots boys. Confident, cheeky but well having a sense of respect. They were a delight to speak to as well as the odd handsome Waverley lad who appeared too. It was lovely to hear their thoughts on the forum and how disappointed they are that Scots has really put the foot down on it. Many expressed their gratitude for what I and others were doing to keep the thread going. This was summed up late on the day as I was leaving when one Scots lad came up just to say how much he enjoys reading what we all contribute. A simple, but most heartwarming gesture. Thanks again Scots lads, you were great. I look forward to seeing you again at Hunters Hill.

The Pop-up canteen is nothing on the famous Blackwatch Café of days gone past. There was a time at Scots when this delightful establishment would make me a perfect double espresso, a toasted focaccia sandwich with a delightful apple crumble to finish. This current experience is something you would find at the Football Stadium with self service and industrial style catering. The pie was exactly what you expect from such an establishment. It was warm…ish. The upper crust was flaky but the remaining pastry was firm as wet newspaper. The taste brought back memories of punishment Wednesday night dinner at Joeys. Bland, with a hint of decay. The filling was a delightful blend of lung, heart, intestine and 5% actual beef. I only hope the café is up and running next season and then we should see an improvement.
My score is #. Not fair to judge the pie based on the current working model.

That table isnt right. Riverview is top of the table. Newington For: 35+40+47+21=143 Against: 26+39+5+38=108 Points Difference 143-108=35

It will come down to who’s got biggest work rate / defence for 6 & 7 position. There’s 6 other ball runners in the forward pack for crash balls.

New look to have an extensive injury list and yesterday were a shadow of the side they were in the early rounds. I could definitely see them sliding down the ladder in the tail end. Joeys and Kings are my joint premiership favourites, but that could well change after the View-Joeys match next weekend. Still a lot of games to play.

Lots of Newington injuries are coming back very soon if not back this week, this Sheck rumour of being out for the season has no substance and the great play from some 2nd XV and 16 A's players will just make Newington stronger. They are still my Premiership favourites, this next game will be a show of strength.
