Scots old boy of 2013 here and after supporting Scots this season and my expectation/chitchat amongst the old boy community I am confused. Now that the season is over for us I wonder how scot went from an apperently undefeated 16s team to bottom of the ladder so quickly. Recruitment/selection should be questioned, some of the basic skills etc have been lacking. Anyways well done to joeys, I hope the the boys can turn the gold jersey around next year.

My call on Shore getting their next win being 2028 proved to be very wrong.

Hand up

Congratulations Shore, well done. Was just going on data.

Will I stop making bad calls? Absolutely not.
Congratulations and well done to the Shore. The boys from Stanmore were their own worst enemy today.

An excellent day of rugby today at Leichhardt. I got there early for a good seat and was treated to three high quality games.

Riverview 3rds totally deserved their win. Joeys had a chance to take the game with a conversion on full time but it was not to be. Riverview need to beat TAS next week to secure a share of the premiership with the winner of the Joeys v Kings match.

The 2nds match was very close early but Joeys pulled away to win convincingly in the second half. There was some conjecture over the result of the Kings v Scots game so I will wait for the official AAGPS result, but Joeys may have a chance to defeat Kings next week for a share of the permiership.

The 1st XV game was simply a great game of rugby. Riverview came out firing and put together some excellent plays to lead 20-7. Joeys struck back just before half time to trail 20-14. The second half was once again all Joeys with a massive share of possession and multiple phase play, enabling them to put on three more converted tries for a 35-20 win. Too many excellent performances to call out individually.

It should be a great final round at Hunters Hill next week.

Congratulations on Shore winning two in a row.

Full 3rd XV Report to come shortly.

Cheers

I agree with the joker. The Riverview boys won the battle of the cheering.

I call BS to that - I was in Bay 3 between the Joeys and View boys and Joeys were clearly louder and more consistent, despite View's drums. Also the View boys jeered the Joeys kicker (despite being reminded by the admittedly patronising PA dude), particularly in the 2nd half as the game was slipping away from them.

But points to the View drum band for their halftime rendition which was special.

So Kings 2nds and Scots 2nds drew today.

That means next week:
If Kings beat Joeys they win the premiership or share it with Scots if Scots also beat Shore
If Scots beat Shore they win the premiership or share it with Kings if Kings also beat Joeys
If Joeys beat Kings AND Shore beat Scots - Joeys win the premiership

Who’s the clown on the microphone
It seems to be a standard thing with View, whomever has the microphone must have a case of verbal diarrhoea. At Lane Cove there's an endless stream of announcements about the Father Mac Pavilion and its fare, as if visitors at any ground/school can't find the available food outlet. And then other public announcements follow like a torrent of mindless consciousness. It's painful to endure.

Where's the beef

Not sure on that. I think it depended on where you were. We sat opposite view and they were onsong and noisy. The master and commander really liked the thing they with their blazers just after oranges.

Well, I was influenced by the View lads as I was sitting at the northern end of the ground right behind and in front of some View Old boys on the fence (thank goodness to the extra security as it was ugly in there) It was good to here "Iggy the Moocher" again. I noted the students joined in.

In regards to the jeering of the kicker it was ugly. Of course it came from the View old boys but when I heard the students did it I was floored. The venue really did change the mood of the game from a schoolboy union match to a thugby league game with all the nastiness in the crowd.

Finally, the View old boys on the hill. I am unsure what "anti-social behavior" they were doing according to the insanely patronizing announcer. (Thank goodness we learned that Lincoln St Smyth was watching the game on Cluch from his chalet in the swiss alps) Did anyone see anything? One theory was that the game was "halted" under false pretenses so Joeys would go off the boil.

Drum Corps was a nice touch, but I did notice they stood right next to the Joeys team at halftime. This made the coaches move the team away as they couldn't be heard. A coincidence?

Conspiracies abounds!

Because they're missing Zach fittler, Leo jaques, toby brial and Finnlay Bartlett as they are all
playing 1's and 2's. They also were missing NSW schools prop Eric Delben
Hey buddy, I’m not ripping in here just observing. I was referring to the current crop of year 12s. I was led to believe that they went undefeated in 16s quite recently in 2020. That is the year 12 core of the 1s. We were shocked based on their undefeated year 10, that is all.

ohhhh ok I thought u were talking about this years 16s, unfortunately this years firsts have gone down in a lot of extremely close games, 2 point loss to Newo, 4 point loss to joeys. This kings game was the first properly large loss

The Riverview team also had to move for the drum line, by they moved early on. Comparatively, the Joeys huddles didn’t move away from the performance. I don’t think it would have been intentional.

I was sitting opposite the grandstand, on the hill, and from my position the Riverview cheers were louder. I believe the senior joeys boys were in the top section of the stand, whereas the Riverview seniors were in the bottom. This may have made those sitting in the parents section think the joeys chants were louder, but around the park it was clear.

I believe that with respecting the kicker, the junior Riverview students always seem to forget to stay quiet. We had a similar conversation at the previous Riverview Joeys game. I think the older boys try to keep them in line. And of course, old boys from both schools were yelling at the kicker.
