They need the field back but it should be maintained in different ways if it is was being managed the way you say it was

I believe scots have a huge problem with there fields. To rely on the council fields is just not right especially for a private school which turns over millions of $$$ a year.

I believe the lack of winning for Riverview this year has come down to training and games. They just simply have not had enough training or games to keep up to standards with everyone else. They keep cancelling everything. Also a massive problem they have is all the water drains down onto there main field. One thing riverview could invest on is some better quality fields that actually have drainage.

I would like to know peoples opinions on the next few years of GPS. I hear Scot’s, Newington and Shore have had succession in the 16s last year and there 16A teams this year are looking fairly strong.

It’s good to see Shore being finally competitive. I think it’s the lift the GPS comp has needed.

I believe its Douglas-menzies not Mckenzie from what ive heard in this forum and from Scots old boys. I think he might be reserve, as someone on the forum has him in the #16 jersey. Always good seeing young talent being brought up a few years early to play and build until hes year 12 year, which if im not mistaken is 2024. Play style similar to Latrell Mitchell, so may even see him built into a fullback role

This year I think the competition has been very close with all schools. Apart from joeys who I think are on another level compared to everyone else you could see every game going either way.

Joeys have all players on deck fit and available for the first time this season for the huge clash with Riverview at Leichardt Oval.

The forwards remain unchanged for all four matches to date. In the backs, Max Jorgenson and Will Malloy return after missing the match against Scots.

Anyone who knows the history of these clashes will know the form guide is irrelevant, and anyone who saw the ‘trial’ at Joeys a few months ago know this ‘View team have points in them.

In the trials, Joeys were conceding close to 25 points a game, they have tightened that right up to 12-15 points a game in the competition so far, while maintaining their own average of around 25 points. If they can keep this 'View team to under 20, they should have enough points themselves to get home. A lot of ‘if’s’.

With a huge crowd predicted for this grand occasion, the banter and tribalism across the next couple of days will be epic.

I had the view that Joeys were a point for point style team but they have definitely tightened that aspect up and I'd now say that about View. View has a crisp Backline that can score plenty and make line breaks but they have a 10-15 window in every game where they seem to go to sleep and let teams either come back into it (Scots) or gap them (Shore). Can't afford to be doing that this Saturday

According to my sources their are a few changes in the Shore first XV, with Hugh Crookes coming up for James McCeary and Hugo Horsery playing in the #12 jersey as Leo is not playing. This should be a great game to watch, looking forward to see which team is going to ge the early lead because in my opinion whoever gets the early lead between these two teams is going to decide the result.

i am a long term forum reader, but have only just made myself an account! i am so excited for the big game on saturday between pink and blue. keen to here everyone’s thoughts.

As one of the old lags on this site (check out the date I joined) let me give you a tip: there are many Joeys supporters here who take offence at cerise being called pink. Continuing along that line'd be a good way to get banned.

Unlike a lot of the other GPS schools like Kings and Joeys, Scots is located in the city which makes it harder and more expensive to buy land, especially in the quantity needed for more footy fields.

At a guess I would say Scots is very roughly about the same distance from the city as Joeys, Shore and View. Of course these days it is very expensive to buy land in Bellevue Hill, but North Sydney, Willoughby, Lane Cove and Hunters Hill aren't exactly backwaters.... and most of the land was all acquired 100+ years ago. So I think it is more a case of foresight and courage to back a bold vision, we have all heard the story of the opportunity that Scots passed on to acquire substantial land near Parramatta in the 1940's.
