They faced off for a whole half and Katoa dominated, so with that you should be going with Katoa and Barker. Barker were also missing their NSW 2 and fullback.

Well, it's final week of GPS '22 and it wouldn't be G&GR forum this week without:

- Year 12 boys from multiple schools putting out good yarns about their mates in the 6ths getting a start in 2nds this week
- Mathematical calculations about if 'team A wins' and 'team b can beat team c' then Team A comes equal third in the premiership
- Passionate people doing their best to make the 16A's relevant again, a comp littered with hard done by kids and parents from underprivileged BMW X5 driving families
- Barker folk coming over and gloating about their big fish in a small pond trophy and greatest team ever assembled for the (insert number) year in a row.
- Quiet resentment from many schools that the Joeys resurgence from 2018 turned out to be a bit more than a passing phase
- Joeys old boys coming back to the forum to enjoy time in the sun
- Scots, Kings and New followers to debate the ripping up of the contract for their Head of Rugby
- Keen people jumping the gun on what will happen in 2023...

- And Joker manfully trying to remind everyone ...... "get your bloody tips in !" .... whilst enjoying the Joeys lap of honour week all the same.

Did I miss anything? Looking forward to it all

You forgot us View Old Boys trying to convince anyone with an ear dead or alive that IF they could play at their best for a full game we COULD have won it all.

This weekend there is a huge in for the shore rugby with a very exciting talent returning from an acl injury. hugo "speedy" jansen that will pack it down in the middle with the big boys in the hooker pos. he is a very FAST bloke that gets nice and low in contact and is very hard to stop.wishing him a great return. good luck hugo
looking forward to this, shore has been quite strong without him for this season, can't imagine how strong the squad is looking with Hugo back

1sts
shore + 12
view +3
Joeys+ 7

side-note: shores ex-3rds winger, is the starting inside for the 4ths and is a great addition to the shore 4th xv as he has tremendous attacking skills, the only concern is the defence as sticking the tackles are not his strong suit. Set the tone this week Angus 'garden' Molchanoff.

No that’s brilliant.

Maybe the only other reflection is for those poor souls that caught the ‘freight train’ after starting out in the 2nds or 3rds have finished up in the 6ths comp but have never trusted the ‘bias’ within the selection process that somehow favoured the wealthier kids.

Agreed

Or some parents input. It’s been interesting to watch.

They didn’t face off for the whole half. Fowler was on his first game back from a full shoulder reconstruction and he was concussed after about 10 minutes. He played on for a bit before the coaches realised what was going on and took him off about 10 minutes before half time. Apart from 13 who missed the whole game most of the team was crook with the flu and probably should not have been playing. This was in the period when literally half the school was absent with the flu.
Would Joeys beat Barker if there was a rematch? Sadly we will never know but I would say probably. Either way, if we move to the H and A season then we probably won’t bother with that fixture anymore, particularly due to the Barker inability to field an even remotely competitive team outside 1’s.

The best rugby 10 in Australian Schools is Joey Fowler by the length of a straight. Isaiya Katoa is the best league half back but definitely not a Union 10.
Fowler is equally strong left or right, watch Katoa or any highlights and 90% of what he does is on the left hand side of the sticks going left to right and that suits modern league, think of all the tries and what side they are scored by left side attacks nowadays. No doubt he is good but for a rugby 10, who at times reminds me of Steve Larkham I choose Fowler all day every day.

And I stick with my earlier thought that if the two teams were to play again, both at full strength I’d be picking Joeys.
mate, you seriously just decided that he is a better 10 based on the fact that Joey Fowler can play on both side of the sticks? Delusional‍♀️

For those who don't read books.

Errol Flynn was a famous Australian actor and Shore boy. He was alleged expelled though for having a romantic tryst with a staff member.

The film? "Edge of Darkness" .1943 (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034694/)

Story is simple. After two years under German rule, a small Norwegian fishing village rises up and revolts against the occupying Nazis.

This could rewritten as...

"After a decade under the boot of Scottish Storm troopers, a small AAGPS school rises up and destroys them at the Death Star'".

I think Errol somewhere in the cosmos is smiling. Go the Shoremen

My predictions this week across all grades:

1st XV:

Joeys vs Kings
Joeys will triumph over Kings comfortably at home. Final games for the year 12s will mean they will be extra fired up and the opportunity to become champions will increase their aspirations to dominate Kings.
Joeys 36 Kings 10
Scots vs Shore
Shore will defeat Scots at BH. Shore are in good spirits and are looking to top off a successful season over the under achieving Scots outfit.
Scots 17 Shore 28
Newington vs Riverview
Newington will rise in front of their old boys on old boy day and conquer Riverview. This Newington team will be looking to finish second place on the ladder and they will rise in front of a home crowd.
Newington 30 Riverview 15

2nd XV:
Joeys vs Kings
Prediction : Joeys defeat Kings 34-10
Scots vs Shore
Prediction : Shore upset Scots 24-21
