Totally agree and I hope all the boys stay safe healthy for Round 2 and the rugby season.

Question for Joker or anyone who knows the answer to this question, when was the last time that Newington 1st XV won a game at HH???
A little bit off topic but i do remember in 2018 when Newington's conversion kicker missed something like 3-4 conversions and at full time the score was Joeys 28 - New 27 (not sure if that was the exact score but I am certain it was a one-point difference)

It was called St John the Baptists. It was a boarding school for 7-11 year olds, many came from the bush and had brothers in the big school. It was conducted by the Sisters of St. Joseph. Situated quite near St. Joseph's College in Gladesville Road, Hunter's Hill, this "little brother" of St. Joseph's prepared boys for Primary Final and the State Bursary Examinations. Pupils taught and prepared for examinations in music, singing and verse-speaking. Sporting facilities include tennis, cricket, football.

Yes. I have a friend from New (dayboy) his elder brother was a boarder there and went to Joeys, no idea why the younger (my friend) didn’t go there but does say his older brother never talks about his time at that prep.

Hello crazy schoolboy
Apologies for my bourgeoise outlook, clearly you are a passionate supporter of the proletariat. But I am not about to joint you, at the barricades any time soon.
But you do remind me of some, dedicated Marxist friends, I knew at university.

Keep well, we need people such as yourself, to remind us that our world is not perfect.

I think 2016, where we won round One, but we lost round 2 the the return game at Stanmore, with a missed kick in front of the posts. Also,Joeys in the last minutes of the Game, kicked a massive long range goal. It broke my heart. Since then it has been bit of drought, if Remember correctly.

hoping the school children can be kicked of this forum soon, focus on your education lads.
Can't blame them for getting into it. Just a bit of fun. Anyway we need them to bring the average age down otherwise its just a bunch of middle aged men (and Raalene) talking about children's rugby. They will fizzle out

Looking forward to todays games.

Hello Dusk, If I remember, your just about right.Newington outscore Joeys with 5 tries to 4. But had a bad day Kicking. In the past both myself and Joker have commented, that the games of 2016 and 2018, proved that God was a Marist Catholic and had forsaken Us Old Methodists, when it came to Goal Kicking.

I thought there was an ‘unofficial’ Joeys prep which took boarders in year 5 and 6. It’s in Ryde or something. I have a few friends my era who went there and then went to Joeys. Also obviously the strong boarding numbers at Joeys don’t do any harm to their cohesion and skills in junior years.

the last year New won the Premiership (2018?). There was a time of 6 years between 2012 and 2018 (I think) when New beat Joeys both home and away.
If i'm not mistaken, there's a catholic primary school right across the street from Joeys but I don't know if they are affiliated with Joeys.

The AAGPS U16 teams must have been released last night.
The following representation across both the Pres A and Pres B teams
Scots 11 players (Jacques and Johnson out injured)
Kings 8
View 2
Joeys 7 (Greer out injured - not sure who replaced him)
Shore 7
New 11

Is this reflective of the teams? How many games has Shore won in the 4 years?
New and Scots should have the majority.
View should be disappointed.

If you have ever been taught by nuns you would understand.

What a kick. 52m! Fun fact...the halfback from Newington was a neighbour of mine. Great young bloke. He was heartbroken but agreed his team mate was being an idiot to draw that extra 10m.

No. They are a "systemic" catholic school and run by the Sydney Catholic diocese. Joeys is trun by Marist Brother Australia. Mind you, there are a number of lads who come through this school and make it into Joeys. A lot of parents have twigged to this and try and get their children in as they know they have a very, very good chance of getting into Joeys. My boys went there!

Villa Maria, there is no official affiliation but now that day boys are allowed there is usually a small cohort that come across each year. Perhaps 5 - 10 a year at a guess.
