Tips for this week:
Joeys to beat Kings by 5-10
Waverley to beat Riverview by 14 plus
Scots to beat Knox by 20
Newington to beat Barker by 5-10
Shore should notch up a win against Oakhill
Have been overseas for month and missed all the action.......Joker gone? Really?? Say it isn’t so!
I like your tips for the week Quick Hands.
Joeys and Kings will be close. Restlessly, Joeys have made more changes in search of the perfect combination running out the man mountain 5th former Greer as a starting prop who will rattle some bones (his an theirs), as well as going with NSW Sevens excitement machine Jolliffe in the backs who also hits like a loose forward. But they will need to against the more fancied Kings machine.
The videos of Waverley show a considerably more disciplined outfit than many expected pre-season, and they have played 65mins per game. Play two full halves, keep Volkman interested for the whole battle, and they can beat Iggies. Fail on these two fronts and the pre-season result will result again.
It looks like Scots were absolutely pantsed by Joeys for second straight year. Brian and his brains trust won’t have taken that well. Score line to reflect this come 5pm.
If Newington turn up and turn on they win by 15-20. If the Wyvern front row can set a platform (particularly their impressive 2,Tomas Maka), Weekes will be too good for too long against a modest Barker backline. If the Barker centres aren’t already having sleepless nights, they will be!
Shore should and need to win against Oakhill. From what I hear they aren’t far off turning things around, and a win does amazing things for momentum. Lose this weekend and their Geeps season could be very ugly.
Good to be back in Sydney for a cracking round of fixtures, and rugby weather to suit! Game of the round has to be Joeys and Kings, an RA should be standing at the gates and raising revenue, charging for people to watch the battle of those two backlines!
But I can’t go past Waverley and Iggies, just has a level of excitement about it as Waverley look to be the formation of a CAS premiership winning team.

Weekes playing league for NSW and Maka injured so both won’t play.
Barker in a close match this week rain may slow it up.

Hard to argue with any on those predictions Quick Hands.
With the Scots game they could scrape home narrowly or even lose if they don't get things happening behind the scrum.
If they get it together it could be a 40 point win.
Savala still injured which is a concern.
Needs to be a dramatic improvement from last week.

Joeys V Kings
Kings will need to do what they did against Waverley in the second half last week, and starve the Joeys backline of ball. Should be a close one - Joeys by 5.
Waverley V Riverview
Riverview are still to hit their straps, while Waverley will be smarting after their second half capitulation last week. Waverley by 20.
Knox V Scots
Knox have had 4 of their 1st's out for the past few weeks (3 of which were NSW U16's, one CAS 16's). 2 of them are back this week, which will see them lift in forwards and backs. When the current Year 12 Scots met Knox in the 16A's, the Year 8 Scots touchie didn't put his flag up when the Scots winger was tackled into touch - resulting in a converted try to Scots to draw the game 19-19. This return match at Knox should be a cracker - Knox by 5.
Newington V Barker
Barker have been flying under the radar so far this year. They have a strong forward pack led by Pollard, and with the likes of Galloway out wide their defence will be strong. If Newington have Weekes and Maka out, they will struggle to score the points they need. Barker by 10.
Shore V Oakhill
Oakhill have injury worries, while Shore have now put a few games together after a busy rowing season. Shore will see this as an opportunity to get some momentum, and will be keen to put in a good performance after last week. Shore by 20.

So, predicting 3/3 for CAS V GPS. Either way, it should be a cracking weekend of schoolboy rugby!

Just a question are Riverview flying under the radar a little in peoples estimation - yet to have a loss this through the trial season wins over

Waverley @ Queens Park 21 - 12
Trinity @ Home 53 - 12
Barker @ Barker 26 - 19
Kinross @ Home 33 - 10
Augustines @ Rat Park 19 - 0

and a draw with Scots @ Home 21 - 21

Answer YES. Views pre-season has been solid, and smartly some BIG games in between some weaker teams.
GREAT pre-season planning in my opinion.

You would think that a few other GPS schools on paper are too strong, and that is correct, but if strategy counts and things go your way, who knows with view this year. Let's see!

Absolutely true. Riverview are right in it and they should not be underestimated. Let's hope their goal posts stay up this year.

Today’s Programme from the Hill. A couple of changes from last week: Greer in for Maddison, Robinson returns from injury at Hooker, Houston back in 2nd Row for Saar, Moretti back on the wing for Oeding. Joeys clearly using this trial to land final combinations ahead of next weeks first game against Newington.
