I have deleted a few posts about a certain player who has had on-field problems, because they were contrary to the guidelines of the forum.

I also deleted quotes of such posts.

I realise that some people will disagree with such action, but imagine if he were your son or brother.
--------------------

We are looking for writers for GPS games this year (and for the final trial next weekend.

If you are interested, and I hope that you are, please let us know in this thread and we will contact you. Also advise us about what school you want to cover.

We won't use you for more than two games - maybe one will do.

Please help.

--------------------

We have another project going on - a season preview.

Rich_E is doing the preview but I'm sure that he would like some help.

A preview of the prospects of each school will be included - about 200 words long.

Would you be interested in writing a 200-word preview of your school? You will get a by-line in the season preview if you do.

It could cover such things as how many from the 1sts, are returning, school rugby changes (whatever that means), trial form, strengths and weaknesses and yarda, yarda.

Also list who you think will be the three most influential players, like this.
Players to look out for: 1. Fred Nerk, 2. Bill Bloggs, 3. Joe Blow.

Don't bother writing why you have named them because your school team preview will be too long and the preview should be more about the team anyway.

So who is interested?

So far: Scots (Rich_E), Joeys (Armchair Selector), Newington (?), Shore (?), Kings (?), Riverview (?)

Or alternatively you could just write some punchy bullet points in this thread - even about more than one school. Punchy.

Thanks guys - and don't be shy
.

If only we had 5.
AAGPS Sydney
CAS Sydney
GPS Brisbane
and I wouldn't dare guessing any further

Well then the young lady would not see anything of what is possibly the best School team running around this year. Stannies will win their comp undefeated (I know Waverly probably will too) so I think you should include ISA.

A typically astute post SDW.
Gibbs deserves a look as said 10 has a tendency to make his first move across field, which will be gobbled up by a good defensive backline. The tendency might be addressed by the older 12 and 13 coming back from injury based only on what I have heard of their class.

I've noticed this too. Would like to see some squarer attack from the Joeys 10, you can see the outside backs running out of room. In saying that, the inside centre on the weekend, Nick Chan, did really well to straighten the attack, I thought.

Agree re Minogue. Big change in style in fly halfs for Kings between 2016 and 2017, and a good change I think. When I saw him play Shore, he taped his ears with old school electrical tape only. I bet he is a tough unit - good luck to the smaller breakaways trying to tackle him. His style of play suggests a league back ground.

Chan did very well as did all of Joeys 1sts & 2nds I thought. Selectors will find it hard to drop anybody coming back from injury save Reilly I suspect. The Scots centres will be glad Eveleigh is out I bet - he caused a lot of dropped ball in the trial & not many hit that hard as the highlights showed although Smith had a great game. Very unassuming lad too when you talk to him - the ultimate gentleman.

Inside Shoulder a compliment ! Thanks mate :)

the Joeys 10 has moments of brilliance, punctuated with moments when you are reminded he is young

against Waverley he did some good things, but he sure drifted, and squandered some good attacking opportunities

so I agree with what is sounding like a consensus on what he needs to correct

that Xavier Ryan sure throws himself into the foray, with no regard for self preservation ... and that is not for want of having copped a belting ... Moretti didn't miss, I recall

and those underage centres, they might not yet have the wood on Reilly and Eveleigh , but they are going to see Joeys very strong in 2018

isn't Laurie Daly's son at Joeys?

either way looking forward to seeing Joeys match up against Kings and Scots come competition time ... definitely worth the price of admission

Anyone want to have a shot at predictions for a GPS team so far?

Mike Wazowski, here is an update on my previous post with the assistance of updates from Gary Owen III and Honey Badger. Also taking into consideration form from trials as posted in the forum or in pre-season trial reviews. As I haven't seen all the teams play, in the interest of fairness, I haven't ranked GPS 1, GPS 2, GPS Blue and GPS White

Really struggling to find 4 additional locks. No disrespect to the players just no one has come up on the radar beyond those listed. So if anyone has additional suggestions, please share.

Likewise missing a half back and 2 wingers.

Also there will be a bench for GPS white so lots of blanks still need filling.

Note also some of the forwards have been moving around between front row, second row and back row. Makes it tough to compare so have selected where they appear to be favoured by their coaches!

Consider this a working list and happy for others to add to the collective wisdom.
Keen to hear if any prospects in TAS, Grammar or High note I haven't seen any of their games.

#1 Edwards (E), Hicks (K), Bell (N), Jansen (J)
#2 Devine (N), Heaven (J), Zylstra (S), Collard (E)

The Joeys vs Riverview match has just become alot more interesting after the last round which saw the two top CAS teams being beaten.

My pick is to look out for Joeys #15 Lachlan Shortis who has really come into his own in attack this season after playing in the 3rds in 2016. His size however does leave question marks. For the view camp, the movement of Eddie Rennie from 2nds fly half to 1sts full back has seemed to work, with a strong contribution to the win against waverly. The match up of fullbacks will be very exciting and I think a major contributor to the end result.

Shore vs scots at Bellevue hill is my pick of the rounds.

Shore coming off a win from Newington and a few rumoured returns to injured players. With Yassmin the Winger out for Scots, could this be shore's chance to return? Luke edwards pushing for Rep selection alongside Sinclair, Collard and Rixon should be exciting. Breen vs edwards. Walker vs Smith will be exciting as the veteran faces the young bull. My bet is on shore by 3. You heard it here first. SHORTBALLSAM

A report would be great SBS! Haven't really heard much about the win.

Too easy as i was out there. I had faith in the blue and white from the second i saw them step on the field. With the big 3 of sinclair, collard and edwards leading the tribe. Newington looked to have the size advantage, however it was clear to see that the shore boys were playing for something more than just the win.

Strong peformances from shore have to go to: Rixon, Walker ( who has really impressed this season) , Edwards and Fawcett

Strong peformances from newington: The hooker, The fullback ( MUN) and Angus bell with some devastating runs.

Gents, all i can say is that im excited for the GPS season to come with shore and Views recent wins, Picking a winner in the comp would be harder than sheering a sheep that hasnt had any sleep!

Have been informed of multiple injuries throughout the Kings 1st and 2nd XV. Currently, there are 10 injured players in these teams for kings. 3 of which are out for the season. Mingoue is out for this week. Will be interesting to see how Kings go with many injuries against a strong Newington side.
