I'm sure if we go through it we can find reasons that might explain the abject failure to adjudicate and communicate. That's why he's wired up: so that the game is not brought into disrepute by speculation that he just f*cked up.
There is no "complete stop" law in union: once tackled he is entitled to play the ball in any direction. That's what he did - what happened as a result is an unexplained mystery by virtue of Peyper's unsuitability for the big time.

IS, where did Peyper speculate? He seemed quite certain in that any advantage was over as a result of something that happened and then brought it back to the original penalty.

If the logic is that Peyper didn't check whether Moore had scored a try because Australia had infringed prior to that moment then all he had to do was say that when asked and there would be no controversy whatsoever.

From what I could see, he didn't say that which is why so many people are up in arms about it.

Yeah, I just looked at it again - by double movement I mean the whole non release thing. You can't argue on his first place, he's short. so what is the rule after that? Does he get another go?

As said in my original post - the referee was better positioned than anybody, so there is nothing wrong with him making the call.

What bullshit! He is allowed to place the ball after being tackled which he did when he scored the try.

In Rugby you're allowed that movement by law (we're not talking mungo rules here thought you know that).

1. Firstly Ref was terrible;
2. ABS starting to give deliberate penalties to avoid trries and are not being "yellowed" - are Refs intimidated by the Blacks ? - Yes, IMO:
3. Genia and Horwill are BOTH not playing to their ability. If they do then the rest of the team "lifts" in intensity
4. To me, the are serious captaincy issues. James doesn't seem to connect with Refs and his views are easily dismissed. Mowen is a very good S15 Captain but will have trouble holding his spot (because he has been playing below par) on the return of Higgers. Genia "never do anything wrong" is not a solution

He did say something though, it's just not audible through the mic. Just watched it a couple of times (NZ feed) and there was definitely some talk.

There is no double movement but you aren't allowed to crawl with the ball after you've been tackled either

I wasn't suggesting Peyper speculated I was saying that looking in slo mo at the ruck and finding reasons why it might have been called back was speculation by Dam0. Speculation which the TMO was supposed to eliminate.

The camera work on that non try was aweful. Left the whole thing open to speculation(still no absolute proof of grounding). Peyper had a good angle but could've explained himself better if there was an infringement in there anywhere

There was no crawling he simply rolled over and placed the ball on the line.

Try.

Anyway, I'm over it. We lost. Just can't handle it when Kiwis try to defend the indefensible such as blatantly obvious, crucial mistake by the Ref.

By your reckoning Srcubber, the 'refs' must be intimidated by the Aussies as well given no yellow against Hooper and Simmons for so called deliberate penalties.

IMO its a massive stretch to say any ref is intimidated by one team. This isn't soccer where there are standover tactics, crowding and vveritable chasing of refs.

Not sure what your definition of rolled over is because there was no rolling over.

I'm certainly not defending anything, just trying to understand what happens perhaps without the hyperbole of others.....

Check it out from 10:54-11:10

I think intimidated is overstating it a bit but I do think that when the ABs get to this point in their cycle of world domination there is a tendency by the refs to go soft on them.
From the refs point of view if every incident talked about on this thread had been penalised the way the posters from both sides think it should have been there wouldnt have been much of a game: that tells me there's a lot of room for discretion and for disagreement.

Calm down, I'm just trying to point out some objectivity. How many goes are you allowed? Moored first go was short - he then either rolled it further or knocked on.

I believe all refs are unbiased and rule on what they see, thus speculating reasons as to why Peyper did what he did.

It seems you want to be satisfied that he's a cheat/incompetent and thus will leave you to that view.

can just imagine this thread if ABs were on receiving end of these decisions

You mean like if the All Blacks had had a likely try disallowed for a dubious forward pass, or if the Wallabies had infringed every time the All Blacks got into the attacking zone, or if the Wallabies had given away 16 penalties, many of them cynical with no yellow cards or even a warning and Hooper had spent most of the game offside?

Yeah, the thread would have been heaps different.

Yep. Hopefully Link is spending less time talking internally about the ref than he is in the media.

We need to play well enough that it doesn't matter if we don't get the rub of the green.

I was seated at the halfway so of course couldn't see. However from what was played on the screen quite a few of us thought it was worth a look upstairs. As for the slowing down of the ball when defending, both sides indulged in that.
I think some of you blokes are being a tad hard on yourselves. A new coach stepping up from super rugby, some new players to international rugby, was it 5 or 6 in Sydney? one third of the team.?Seems to me some of you are failing to take into account that the AB's are a settled well drilled side with a very experienced international coach.
Re the booing of Quade Cooper. I hope the fools who indulge in this get over it very soon. I am in my mid seventies and began watching [and playing] rugby back in the days when spectators didn't need a skinful of grog and a bucketful of chips to get through a match. The attention span of people nowadays is woeful, stupid mexican waves etc. I may be a bit of a dinosaur because I still applaud good play by the opposing team and remain silent no matter who is kicking for goal.Looking around me on Saturday night I could see I wasn't alone, we just don't make as much noise.

From where I saw it the ball took a left turn at the book repository then did a you turn before landing near the line. This could only happen if there were two hookers.

If you have to get to #3 before you can move towards #2, then how can you get to #3?

You do know you're in 4th place in the rankings now? So to get to #2, you've got to knock the poms off #3 spot. Winning games helps this equation.
