Plays your cards right (i.e. opposite to how you're currently playing them) and there might be some Kooga gear appear on here at some point.

Call me idealistic, but I'd love it if they got rid of the sponsors logo - the AB's would never plaster a logo across the front of theirs, and I reckon there's something to be said for not commercialising a jersey.

Absolutely. Nothing ruins,or cheapens, a jersey like sponsors plastered all over it. :thumb

Agreed. You'll see in American sports there are no sponsors on any jerseys...Baseball, Basketball, Hockey or American Football. The only exception being soccer really and I think it's more for the European look.

The 7's jerseys don't feature a sponsor, only featuring the manufacturers logo and the AIS badge. Much more professional look IMO.

Welcome El Barto. You a Bakkies fan, or do you just like seeing his blood?

Thanks Scotty, and yes I like seeing his blood! Although I do enjoy his "style" of Rugby, bit of a love/hate thing.

I don't think the ARU is in a strong enough bargaining position at the moment to be making the kind of demands from sponsors that some of you are seeking (let's face it they need all the sponsors they can get) and will only be able to achieve this aim if they win regular and in a way that attracts new fans to the game (and even some old ones who have voted with their feet after years of boring and substandard performances).

LOL, Blue. Looks as though even on here they can't keep Bakkies and Victor apart.

If the new Reds strips are anything to go buy I'm not getting my hopes up & the price of the Reds jersey is crazy nearly $170.

I'm still thinking of buying the Reds away jersey but the price is bullshit considering how rubbish they've been.

I think the whole idea is having a reds membership to allow cheaper jerseys, and cheaper merchandise at their reds store at Ballymore. Don't even know why they have one there, seems like a bit of a joke, could attract some attention when they return to Ballymore. I reckon the Ballymore crowd will be the biggest of the year.

the reds store at ballymore is basically just a warehouse, they send all the merchandise out to Suncorp when the Reds play there

$170 for any rugby jersey is ridiculous, even more so for a team who are struggling. Is it that they want to price themselves out of the market so only the true Reds saddist will be seen in their merchandise?

Why not put out a T-Shirt in the $40 price range, the more you sell the more people you've got wearing your brand around town and promoting you for free!

my local sports shop just got the new jerseys in, must say, the reds jersey isnt as bad as the pictures revealed, it was a couple shades darker than i thought, although still not maroon enough.

agree though, 100 bucks for a jersey is more than enough. the tahs jerseys this year, you can buy a replica one that uses the high tech fabric, 160 or just get a cotton replica jersey, SAME PRICE, you would think the cotton would be cheaper some how but seems the technology isnt worth more than a plain shirt.

i dont get the cost of jerseys...

i mean yeah they bump the prices up to make more of a profit, so you might sell 2'000 Reds jerseys priced at $170 or you could sell 6'000 if they were priced at $90, the profit margins are reduced on each jersey but overall the profit would be around the same because of the sheer quantity sold.

Im not familiar with the apparel deals that they have with companies like Kooga and Canterbury, but surely they could be a hell of a lot cheaper.

yeah i was watching the news and it showed some highlights of the Reds in there training gear, and that doesnt look as red as what the initial pictures showed either.. I think it might look ok in the end, it doesnt help that they had forwards modelling the gear

Even though I generally dont like cheap chinese produced imports, I would love to see Reds/Wallaby jerseys imported and sold for $20-$30. I think it would be awesome if every second person on the street was wearing one and at that price if it was replaced every 2 years you would not care. If it had sponsors on it then they could subsidise the shirt too.

It will never happen, but you can still dream

Got a Tahs Jersey for my wife at the last game of the 08 S14 season. $45!!!
$170 is good value when you think how long you'll own it for. A range of budget jerseys for wives/kids would be good.
