after the game tonight, lets not change our jersey until we have a team that is capable of winning, no need to tarnish a new identity when we have the current one!

Breaking news: Kooga pulls out of Wallaby contract in order to put more effort into Fiji...

About time - I posted about this months ago but thought it wasn't gonna come through. So basically it'll be like the all gold training jersey?

Call me idealistic, but I'd love it if they got rid of the sponsors logo - the AB's would never plaster a logo across the front of theirs, and I reckon there's something to be said for not commercialising a jersey. Especially when people call them the "Qantas Wallabies"...gives me the shits. Even in the cash crazy EPL there's a couple of teams without a sponsor and a few that let charities advertise for free. Does it really bring in that much money? Is it really worth it?

Hmmmmm...

Let's put it this way - what's that on Fitzy's right tit, then...?

Hmmmmm...fair enough.

Let's put it this way then - let's not stoop to their level.

That's a very old photo, Thomo. Since then (about 1992) the NZRU have decided not to put sponsors' logos on the AB jersey. Even adidas must put a small and subtle logo on the current jumper.

I, for one, applaud their stance not to completely bow to commercialism.

i think Kooga is the next big thing in Australian sport. i am quite regularly seeing Kooga Seniors jerseys for like schools. And I think the reds have turned in their direction ever since ISC went bankrupt. Canterbury is certainly fading in Australia, overpriced crap if you ask me.

Ive always loved the CCC brand. Ive worn it since the age of 5 at Saturday monring footy (30 years ago now) and never had any issues with the durability or quality of the brand. I still have playing jersies and pairs of training shorts in excellent condition that are seven or eight seasons old. It was a sad day in 1999 when Adidas replaced CCC as kit sponsor to the ABs. And since then CCC has slowly slid down the food chain. At the end of the day money talks and Adidas have plenty of that. I would prefer to see a NZ based company that has produced the AB jersey for over 100 years continue that tradition but the NZRU must have need that $150+ million more than it needed CCC.

I agree entirely. I loved the old, proper Canterbury jerseys (as it happens, I knew about Canterbury from the cotton sailing trousers they made ever before their rugby gear was on sale here - brilliant things, and would last you over a decade). The collar, and the u-shaped bottom of the neck were perfect.

Always thought the [as you look at it] left-to-right of Steinlager, Canterbury and the Fern was one of the most perfectly iconic images for NZ. And when you look at it, fuck it, bring back collars on jerseys and sin-bin the first fucker to catch someone by one! :angryfire:

The All Blacks had sponsor logos before Adidas signed up as their exclusing jersey sponsor. I remember a particularly noxious Steinlager one. If Adidas were to forego that deal then they'd immediately have sponsor logos again.

Edit: oops, just saw the later posts and pictures.

There was a big issue when Adidas changed the AB's sock to have three stripes not two.

wish the all blacks would go back to having a white collar, same with australia, proper collars!
As a buyer of the supporter jersey, the white collar was a curse - always ended up crinkled, sticking up in weird ways, bits of sauce and other debris marked it easily... I like my adidas one.

Oh and fuck anything with Canterbury as a title or part of it too. :)

canterbury jerseys are and always will be the shit, if the new kooga crap is the same as the shiny fiji and nrl jerseys they make then i guess im going to save a bit of money in the new year!
