The jersey look is still top-secret but The Daily Telegraph can reveal that the green piping and side panels that have tricked up one of Australian sport's iconic jerseys since the 2007 World Cup have been ditched.

Also gone are the white "spiderweb'' grip panels. There is a return to a more conventional collar.

The clean, classic design by new jersey-maker KooGa will also be in a brighter gold colour after consultation with the Australian Rugby Union and player representatives

About time - I posted about this months ago but thought it wasn't gonna come through. So basically it'll be like the all gold training jersey?

Call me idealistic, but I'd love it if they got rid of the sponsors logo - the AB's would never plaster a logo across the front of theirs, and I reckon there's something to be said for not commercialising a jersey. Especially when people call them the "Qantas Wallabies"...gives me the shits. Even in the cash crazy EPL there's a couple of teams without a sponsor and a few that let charities advertise for free. Does it really bring in that much money? Is it really worth it?

With no inside knowledge to speak of - it seems to me Canterbury are actively trying to screw their own business.

You'd have thought losing the AB's contract would have kicked them into gear, but they continue with the same shit, relying on the glory years of times gone by to prove the worth of their overpriced gear.

I also suspect Kooga ponied up with a significantly favourable deal to steal the contract from likely other suitors.. ISC, Adidas, Nike...

ISC is bankrupt i think, thats why they have pulled out of everything.
Canterbury have scaled right back to basically NZ after having factories in a few different countrys, have we ever had NIKE or ADIDAS rugby gear out here, i think ADIDAS might be exclusive to the ALL Blacks in the southern hemisphere as part of there deal.

sounds good, just hope the supporters shirts are from breathable fabric and not that stinky nylon crap!

Is ISC in trouble ??
What does that mean for our S14 sides?

Didn't the Saffas get screwed when their CCC plant went bankrupt and couldn't make jerseys in time so they had to express them out from NZ. 'Bout 2006 i thought.

ISC website has always been useless. In fact - most suppliers have useless websites.

I don't know anyone who bought the current jersey. They couldn't have made much cash off them as they are pretty hideous, I think we may see them on sale very soon though.

Has anyone got the current mesh underbra jersey?

Better to just lose some weight to get rid of the man-boobs! That jersey is awful unless you are seriously cut, and even then... :puke:

I hope there's plenty of green in it. I'm no psychologist but bright yellow has to be the least intimidating colour of the spectrum, rivalled only by pink. At least pink can play off fears of sunburn, indigestible bubblegum and homosexuality, but what fears does yellow have to draw on? Daffodils? Bees? There's not doubt that we would've quickly evolved towards more-green-than-gold in all of our sport outfits if it weren't for those bloody Saffas re-entering the scene. The Aussie cricket team is a case in point. They know what they're up against. You know there're problems when we have to call it "gold" instead of the more obvious "yellow". You don't hear the AB's calling their jersey "jet", or Saffas calling theirs "emerald".

One solution would be to change the colour back to fucking gold!! No idea why the colour has slipped along the spectrum to yellow.

My high school rugby jersey was purple ... wait for it ... with pink and yellow stripes.

Except they called it bismarck, coral, and gold, but that didn't fool anybody.

I want an old school real jersey, with a proper collar and long sleeves (the only Aus jersey I own is a peerless replica)

There is something wrong the the ARU marketers if they think I am ever going buy some lycra top.

Didn't buy it, but managed to talk a random pom into buying me one at Twickenham in November - £65. Long story.

Wore it once down the pub to watch the Wales game, haven't worn it since. Got a knackered 2001 jersey with the green "floaties" on the sleeves - much better. Plus, I got it when I was 10 so I look stacked in it now.

And how come it looks good when Brazil wear it?

I'm not saying it doesn't look "good" -- I'm saying it doesn't look intimidating. I'm not saying it does look good either. I'll leave that up to the fashionistas to decide.
