I don’t care if they lose. They have had some innovative in the second half to stop just going to the line out and losing. The coach should be getting the message out to them to change it up if they keep failing at one aspect.

Well let’s just make this a general warning about this U16 comp. It’ll be the same as schoolboys threads. Respect the fact they are school kids not professionals. Any negative talk will be reprimanded.

The ref has been pretty poor, the penalty for the high shot where Goddard is clearly hit below the shoulders takes the cake

This game was an absolute gem of a game, 6 tries to 5 & there is some seriously good kids on either side.

Gordan v Bowen probs Mase
Clark best on off the bench
Niubalava & Talataina dominated the ruck & competed at everything!

where the bloody hell has Maiava been for the reb???? could have honestly been the difference today!

Yeah I don’t get why he wouldn’t play if he wasn’t injured.

The standard of play was very good, I was impressed by the Rebels 15

I think what is also on display is the strength of the school programs over there. No doubt their skills were better than ours but their level of physical development was far ahead of ours. Looked like men v boys in the back line
You’re right. Not in the same class but they don’t receive the same development at individual schools for obvious reasons (investment, competition, school priorities, etc.). Often a few of the better guys head interstate to get better rugby education as well. This Tahs team is very good tho.

The u19s were very good with the team predominately Victorian based with a handful of very good QLDers

I think the big thing is the strength of the competition. You have to do more as a squad to be successful in NSW so therefore players are forced to work harder. To build that depth and that competitiveness in Victorian rugby will take a very long time

Here's a very hot take... and I can't believe I am saying this as a former critic myself... But Tom Morrison? Could he be this age group's best fly-half? Always thought it was Bowen, but Mason looked to be slightly better than him today... But not as good as Tom Morrison. This Tah's team was chalk and cheese when Morrison is steering them around and not Bowen. They look far more dynamic, always testing the defence, and I love the way he takes on the line and is a genuine threat to run the ball. Think Bowen has the superior kicking game in general play however.

Yes. Very true. Moalo (who started at prop for the Tahs today) is actually a Victorian boy who moved to Sydney for his rugby development.

imo kind of, but the tahs had alot more ball in the 2nd half. Bowen didnt have many chances especially in the 1st 20 min

Good day out for the Brumbies U16s and U19s in Melbourne.

U16s final score 31 - 19 to the Brumbies.

U19s final score 34 - 0 to Brumbies. Half time score 3 - 0.

Some serious talent in both U19s sides. Godfrey had another strong game at No 8, but playing a lot of the second half in the second row. Christopher Mickelson is a very promising No 7 and the No 6 had a strong game. Brumbies absolutely dominated scrum and lineout which led inevitably to the win. Rebels had some big bodies in the second row and backrow but let down by their front row at set piece.

Expected Mason Gordon to have more influence on the game but didn't finish on top of his opposite, Gray. But if I've seen a future classical No 10, it has to be Syris Schmidt who came on for the last 15 minutes or so. Such composure and possesses a huge boot. One 50/22 he kicked from his 22 and found touch about 15 out from the tryline. With the likes of Bowen and others coming through at the Tahs, No 10 is looking well served for the future.

I know that we still have tomorrow's round to go, but it seems like that the finals will be Waratahs vs Reds in both.
Hopefully all teams come through unscathed. These are my predicted NSW lineups:
16s: Christodoulou, Muriti, Hill; Poitaha, Brial; Cleverley, LeMaitre, Aboud; Blank, Conti; Poynton, Walsh, Jaques, McLean; Woods. Bench: Meagher, Strachan, Langi, Hansen, Turner, Howells, Fittler, Berryman.
19s: Barrett, Alcock, Clark; Hick, Jahnke-Tavana; Halaholo, Maher, Allsopp; Goddard, Bowen; Dimovitch, Worthington, Ropata, Noureddine; Morrison. Bench: McGregor, Roberts, Moujalli, Knight, Talaileva, Nelson, Manuel, Matthews.

Both teams are stacked with talent. There are several great players who are going to miss out, but should be super proud to be involved in such a great program.

Interesting to see that QLD have moved Oates to 10 in the 16s - no doubt to get the ball in his hands more. Kid is a star. And looking forward to Taj Annan in the QLD 19s - played NSW PSSA and is another star in the making.

Interestingly enough, Annan isn't the only NSW boy in that u19's QLD side. Harrison Usher (Prop, The King's School) and Tyrone Albertyn (Hooker, Barker College) are also NSW boys.

Waratahs and RA need to work out how they can lock some of these Under 16s down. Some very special talent here. Mitchell Woods is a standout today.

He is in the AFL and League system too. So he of anyone needs to be locked in quickly.

NSW looking very dominant in the 16’s.

In the 19’s NSW are up at half time despite being down to 13 men at one stage.

Just Bowen. And Teddy Wilson off the bench.

JB got man of the match but the judge overlook some unsportsmanlike conduct (x2) for a guy as experienced as him that really should rule out that sort of recognition. I hope he get that out of his game because unnecessary and make him look like the goose.
