Melbourne Rebels 2024

Except it's probably going to cost you millions of dollars to properly defend it.

RA could be the best run organisation in the world and defending this legal action is still going to cost them a lot of money.
Yet the court has the ability to award costs against the directors if they lose.

Just shows you have NFI neither were there in the first year. As that is when we were banned from recruiting and that set the club back. Also we got JOC (James O'Connor) from the Force so he wouldn’t of been covered

It was. As Slim pointed out earlier, we recruited the wunder kids in year two. Year one was a bunch of journeymen and some new talent.
Adam Byrnes, Laurie Weeks, Richard Kingi, and Adam Freier all came directly from Reds/Tahs to the Rebels in the first year though, so clearly it wasn't an absolute blanket ban

Fair enough. Seemed by yr 2 though it was open slather for them though
That’s after the squad has been filled by journey men most on multiple year deals. Shows the attitude towards the Rebels. That said the priority access to talent didn’t help the Gold Coast they came in the AFL the same year as the Rebels and still haven’t played a final. So I am not claiming it would have guaranteed on field success, just that it would have increased the probability

No, contracting going into the RWC year in 2011 made it difficult for the Rebels in their inaugural season...

But the following year they signed the two biggest stars in Australia rugby.

Should we have a look at their 2019 squad list, when they were allegedly trading while insolvent...

Mate RA deserves this. End of the day they have destroyed the sport in Australia and any attempt to hold them to account will be welcomed

You seem to look at RA as other and not literally being the sport in Australia.

It's hard to pinpoint an administration at any level of rugby in Australia and particularly at the ARU/RA level at any point in our history that hasn't made mistakes.

You seem to think that it's worthwhile killing the sport in Australia because of this perceived fuckup. Who do you think loses out most here? The people you are specifically angry at won't lose anything personally.

The Fans of rugby in this country do not deserve this.

One small group of businessmen getting revenge on another small group of businessmen does not justify Australia's rugby fans getting fingered yet again.

Alright fuck it, I'm out on this much later than I should have.

I get the frustration and anger about the situation and parts of it are fair, but the seeming lack of acknowledgement of accountability on the part of the Rebels is bizarre. It honestly feels like crashing my car drunk and blaming the bar.

These Directors have run an organisation into the ground regardless of the support they had or had not from other bodies who have essentially donated tens of millions of dollars to keep players in Rebel jerseys on the field and giving a product to the fans to support passionately.

These self-proclaimed 'current' volunteers do not have your best interest at heart or the Rugby community in Victoria or wider Australia it seems.

RA does not have the best interest of rugby at heart they never have

So you don’t want to be fingered but you want to keep getting fucked by RA?

The game is going to die if we don’t change anything anyway. That is obvious, RA has killed the game here, for all the talk of continued support for the grass roots in Victoria that was all just more lies from RA there has been no support forthcoming. They will kill the game in the rest of the country within the next ten years

So you know more than Rod McQueen over the restrictions that RA placed on the rebels when it came to recruiting? Cool to know
