Being born in Scotland makes you fairly Scottish.

Having a surname beginning with Mc doesn't hurt either.

He came to Australia when he was 3. He has lived here for the last 23 years, bar a short stint with Sarries.

I'd say that makes him fairly Aussie.

But for the real answer I suppose you'd have to ask him.

I'm not saying he's not Aussie, but I guess in the context of IRB qualification rules, being born somewhere puts you pretty far up the chain when the only requirement is having a grandparent born there.

You wouldn't find many people who wouldn't qualify for multiple countries under that rule.

Oh I am not doubting he does not have a Scottish heritage.

My broader point was I am sure that considering his heritage he wouldn't turn down a Wallaby position, even knowing he has a chance to have a longer career for Scotland.

And if he does frankly he can fuck off and he is not the type of bloke we want in gold. But I'm sure that won't happen.

Sam argument was brought up in another thread a few weeks back but as aussies we shouldn't criticise him, considering we have stolen a fair few players from different nations who probably would struggle to make there own nations national team. Can you say Kepu & Cooper. Also if you look at the Australian matchday 22 alot a large portion were not born here and large portion of that lot have not even spent half there years here. So as a rugby nation we shouldn't question national loyalties.

You kidding right? Those players LIVE here, and would be Australian if they didn't play rugby. McKibbin would only be going to Scotland for rugby.

I think the only way McKibben would make the wallaby squad would be due to his goal kicking ability, an area Australia have traditionally struggled with. Is this enough to cover decreased capacity in his primary trade? Not in any sane persons view, but perhaps in the ARU's

Nic White is also a goal kicker too, just that Lilo has the duties at the Brumbies...

Funny people on here talk about being capped for the Wallabies as a real downer for McKibben. What a shithouse thing to happen to him, the poor guy.

FFS he is an Aussie, who gives a flying fuck about Scotland.

I would sell my mother for five fucking minutes in a gold jersey, and hopefully he feels that way as well.

And on recent form he deserves to be our 3rd string halfback. So will he get capped? Maybe. Should the selectors care about his potential move overseas next season? Fuck no.

.

Exactly, they all ready have the best goal kicker born in Australia.

People like Kepu, Samo, Rathbone came here for rugby opportunities not because they had to live here
Why does Rathbone still choose to live here? Rathbone would have played for the Boks so I don't he came here for rugby opportunity.

^^he has an australian wife and i dont know if he would have been a bok as quick as he was a wallaby.

Of course he would've... You don't remember how the Saffers reacted to his defection?

Jake White wanted him...

Anyways, he came here for the lifestyle... Not rugby...

Sheehan would be a good option if you want a 9th forward. His attacking from the base is a bit stagnant but he has shown a few glimpses. If you want an attacking option, McKibbon is in great form and to keep Pretorius on the pine, he must be doing something right

It's all academic

Genia will be playing 9 in the tests

With the Force and Reds having a bye before the Scotland game, you'd think that Sheehan is very likely to get a test recall either starting or off the bench against Scotland.

Genia will start against Wales so you'd imagine he'd either sit out the Scotland game or play off the bench. That said, Deans could be crazy enough to start Genia on the Tuesday and Saturday.

mate if you run through this thread you will find that this ain't just a Brumbie supporter love fest.

Genia is a great player and historically has more runs on the board, but this year, so far, White looks the goods.
I don't disagree, White has looked better than Genia this year but I dispute that he has looked anywhere near Genia's best. Too early to say that experience is the only difference between the two..just my opinion.
