All clubs will strengthen when the Super players return, not sure how Blakey will play our 4 - 8. Luke Jones, Cadyen Neville, Ed Gower, Dylan Sig, Kotoni Ale, Jordy Ried, (& maybe Michael Hooper, and Wycliffe Palu??). Couple of Hookers & Props also returning from the Soup (Hilterbrand, Leafa, Eddie, Hoskins, I thought there was another).
Our backs who knows the mystery's returning there;
Lucas, Lane (maybe), there's a number of centre combo's, a number of wing combos, plus a number of 15's - we'll have to wait and see.

Yep, pretty impressive list!
Some interesting decisions coming up for Blake.
Unfortunately the Wicks have only got Beale, Kepu and Mitchell and I doubt we'll see any of the first two and Mitchell's heading to France at some point. Unless we pick up some new signings from the Force or Rebels what we've got now is it for this year. Would have been nice to get Mowen and Leali'ifano if not required by the Wallabies, but they now have to stay in Canberra.

great day down at the glorious Manly Oval. Large crowd. Great game between a touring Irish school and the Manly Academy - very competitive and fun to watch. Irish Schools getting up. 3rd Grade Colts produced what looked like their best game of the year systematically picking Eastwood apart in every facet of the game. Great running rugby and the backs carved up a feast of 7 tries. Hard luck for 2s going down - hopefully they can reverse their skid and 1s proved just how incredible of a team they are running away with a 40 or so point win.

Yes Nostra, 2s was a hard one, they had a stronger pack, and we had better backs the binning of our lock??? I think was the turning point.
My first colts game, the # 6 had an awesome game, and Reece's vision wider out often had the outside back in space.

Colts players will be attending a working bee at Bear Cottage on 8th August
“Easts will be a very tough proposition. They will be keen to get into the top 4 on the table and need to get the wins now,” explained MMMs coach Phil Blake. “They were embarrassed by their defeat in the first round and their coach was very upset with the performance.” The MMMs beat Easts 39-20 away. A convincing performance, given losses to Parramatta and Eastwood in previous weeks.
“It is important that we get a strong start,” continued Phil. “We want to be in the top 4 and need to keep winning.”
This weekend sees the start of the return of the Super 15 players.
“This has been my longest time away from Manly Oval,” said towering Rebels lock, Caydern Neville. “My last game for the Marlins was the semi final last year and last time at Manly Oval was the final round against Norths.” Caydern is a local lad who joined the MMMs four years ago as a break from elite rowing. He moved from 4th grade through to first grade. He gained a Super 15 contract last year and was selected in the Wallabies spring tour.
Caydern is joined by fellow Rebel, Jordy Reid, in at No 6. Easts reserve grade should be nervous….they are facing a full Super 15 front row with Eddie Aholelei, Pat Leafa (Rebels) and James Hilterbrand (Force) turning out for the MMMs.
“Some of these players need to play some football. We also only have one training session to prepare and so it is better to stick with the blokes who have been playing well and know our systems,” explained Phil. “We need a squad mentality and will make selections based on the needs of the game in front of us. Horses for courses. We need to beat Easts.”

After a few seasons playing for Ulster, fullback Adam D’Arcy returns to the run on team. An electric player and sharp shooter in the kicking department, he filled Peter Hewat’s boots with aplomb.

“It was awesome playing in a full stadium,” described Caydern about playing against the British and Irish Lions in Melbourne for the Rebels. “I think it is the only time apart from the first ever Rebels game when the stadium has been packed.”
“You pretty quickly realise that this is the next level of rugby,” he mentioned about the slick playing from the Lions. “It’s probably a once in a lifetime experience with them only playing here every 12 years. After the game we had a few beers in the changing room with them and swapped jerseys.”
“The Rebels have taken a step forward this year and I feel that I am a better footballer and have worked on my technique.

Another great day down at the Village Green (all bar 20 minutes of rain that saw all the ladies run for the Marquee. A good crowd sat under the Saucer, and stood across the Eastern touchline to watch some of the returning Super Players.
Derby next weekend, lets take over Rat park.

3s was a good tussle between to teams sitting equal 4th on the table, Manly was the stronger across the park and won with a bonus point.
2s the monster forward pack (unfortunately Pat Leafa couldn’t make it) showed there muscle and destroyed the Beasties scrum on a number of occasions. Went to the break with 30+ on the scoreboard and the score line could have been anything. A few changes, an injury to Pete Gilmore and a resurgence from Easts saw them climb in the second half back but Manly were always safe. Joe Christe & BJ were strong in attack.
1’s. A real defensive battle by both teams, Manly left about 3 tries out there in the first half when attacking phases and try scoring opportunities were not completed.
The set pieces were even, we had better go forward in the rucks and malls (in close & a little wider), and our backs had the better of the attack.
Matt Lucas’s crisp passing had our backs hitting the line, new centre pairing Malie & Sef (back from injury) will only improve, and our finishers created a number of opportunities yesterday but they were left out on the field. Didn’t like seeing those 3 tries let in in the last 20 minutes, it distorted the score line.
Strong performances from Kotoni, Jordy, Porecki, Caderyn, & Lucas.
In summary, the score line could / should have ready Manly + another 3 tries, East’s minus 1 or 2 tries, we need to finish off scoring opportunities that we create.
I think i heard over the speaker yesterday colts came home with 3 from 3,
2nd place on the Club Championships is still achievable.
All teams are on track for the finals.

Disciplined ball retention rugby is required to beat a team with "which club next year Harvey" in it. Maybe our tight forwards will call his channel Pittwater Rd and play hard down the 10 / 12 Channel and reduce his impact. With Reid, Ale, Caydern, Alley, playing there usual game.
“We are expecting another tough game,” said experienced MMMs prop Tim Fairbrother. “We have to ignore the niggle and sledging, and focus on doing a good job.”

With Brian Sefanaia returning from injury last week we had a new centre pairing that played together for the first time this year, they are know doubt better for the run. Woodhouse and Hooper had some good counter attacks on the outside v Easts but just couldn't finish off the movements.

Ruthless performance by colts that put a rats team away that was on a good run of wins, Rats only try came on the bell against a Manly side down to 13.
Good to see Matt Philip back for the first half, and it is hoped water boy Rhys will be back for the run into the finals.
Firsts controlled the forwards as expected, Ed had a ding dong battle all day with Holmes and came out on top. Against the stronger packs they will have to work a lot harder for the dominance that came easily against the Rats yesterday, Ed led the way in the forwards. Set pieces were strong through size, and technique, and we muscled a number of tight heads when required.
Matt Lucas was a real general at 9 with some sniping runs and always delivering quality ball.
We pushed some passes at times behind the add line whish resulted in turned over ball, this left us exposed and the Rats counter attacked.
The Rats also caught us knapping on a couple of quick taps and they marched us down field.
Any news on Kotoni's ankle?
