Depending on his French contract (I think it is up this year) AJ Whalley could be an option for tight head or at least in the squad.

I don't think AJ Whalley is getting much (any?) game time. James Lakepa on the other hand, playing in the same division, is starting most games.

Whoever suggested Rodzilla is having a giraffe.

Props
1. Jerry Y (has been in the Brumbies academy for a few years now so hopefully he is ready)
1/3 Spud Holmes (Not sure who else but if the Rebels got Edwards I would want Holmes to stay with the Reds)
3/1 Al Baxter (with Palmer waiting in the wings at the 'tahs it would be good if Baxter headed down to Vic)
3 Dayna Edwards (Out of favour with the Reds - fitness?)
Hookers
Adam Frier; Luke Holmes; one other (preferably a seasoned pro)
Locks
Vickerman (if he wanted to come back); Douglas / Jowitt / Thomson (whichever one the 'tahs discard); one other mid-career journeyman (who knows his job and does it - doesn't need to be a star)
Lock / Flank - Steve Mafi
Backrowers
6 MMM
8 Dennis
6/8 Luafutu
7 Shaw
7 Robinson

Harvey is also an option at 15. Depending on how he plays in this years Shute Shield, i would expect him to pick up some sort of contract in 2011.

I think it may be a little too late for Harvey who will turn 28 this year.

He's currently playing in Italy and will miss the first few months of the club season. I wouldn't be surprised if he retuned up there after this season.

I would fill number nine with Phibbs. What does he need to do to get a run the poor bastard. He is a far better player than Valantine but still finds himself running second at the Brumbies. Cuold fill it with Valentine, he is due for another franchise switch. :angryfire:

I thought Lipman was the best 7 in England for a while there, still a long way behind the likes of Smith and McCaw, but at least he had a go at getting the ball. Don't think he has ended up playing many games for them though.

They are filling up their import spots pretty quickly.

Excellent work, Rod. These are the sort of players the Rebels should be aiming to get.

McKibbon is a must for the Rebels he has to be there next year, he's a class act & is a waste at the Tahs playing 3rd string.

Given all the talk about culture and attitude Lipman and Mr Brook seem like strange choices.

My sources tell me that Israel Folau is a very good chance of moving back to Melbourne. Could be B.S but would cause a big storm if he does.

I heard the same thing last year. Apparently misses Melbourne. (And why wouldn't you...)

He moved coz his family, who doesn't get sick of their family after a while. Would be great if he made the switch to Union

The drinking culture of rugby is apparently the biggest stumbling block to the Rebels signing him. Coming from a League player :nta:

10 days to go now…

The Australian this morning has Richard Kingi heading down there but has Tom Carter sticking with the Tahs. Carter is quoted as saying “My loyalty is to the Waratahs. I love the place and we have unfinished business until we win a Super 14.”

Someone mentioned Mike Hercus in the overseas list previously. He is back training with Gordon currently. We will get a good gauge to where he is at when the club season starts.

from The Australian today:

Rebels score Kingi for next year's Super 15

MELBOURNE Rebels are expected to sign Wallabies halfback Richard Kingi for the expanded Super 15 competition next year.

It is understood the Rebels have reached a verbal agreement with Kingi and will announce his signing on March 15. Kingi was an obvious target for the Rebels. A bolter for the Wallabies tour of Japan and Europe last November, he played in the midweek games against Gloucester and Cardiff. But Kingi was only this year promoted from a Queensland Reds academy contract to a Super 14 deal.

Kingi, who was ruled out of the Reds' match with the Chiefs in Hamilton today because of a hamstring injury, would not receive many opportunities playing behind Wallabies halfback Will Genia in Brisbane.

But the Rebels appear to have failed in their bid to secure NSW Waratahs midfielder Tom Carter. Asked whether he was interested in joining them, Carter said: "My loyalty is to the Waratahs. I love the place and we have unfinished business until we win a Super 14."

WTF?! Bruce, could you please have a word with the boy, convince him his future's at the Rebels. I promise I'll lay off Sydney Uni if you do.
