Here is who I would be looking to assemble, depth is an issue, as is experience from the bench, a few injuries and I am in a bit of trouble.

13. Stirling Mortlock (Brumbies) centre/wing/kick

I'm not going to be any good with this game though, because while I wish all the other franchises to do well, the Rebels doing will will always be my higher priority. Hence, I'm less inclined to look for rejects or fringe players who can't make the best 15 for a side unless I see them as genuine prospects (like To'omua for example).

If I was recruiting for the Rebels, I'd work bloody hard at getting:

Robinson
Elsom
To'omua
Pocock

And then work from there.

Of those I only think 1 or 2 are real possibilities, but all four of those are really solid foundations to build the team on.

Bring Back Sonny Bill.

I forgot about that guy. Bloody good league player, I wonder how he's going in France?

Two-trick pony:

1) Offload in the tackle which worked in league because you're not allowed to rip the ball.
2) Shoulder charge

Neither of those work in rugby, but if he wants to play for the Rebels and leaves his dickhead management behind him he'll be serviceable.

wowza.

So the Reds lose 10 (in a squad of 30) whils the Tahs lose 6, the Foce lose 2 and the Brumbies 3. Don't like the sound of that.

No way Kimlin is being let go! He'd be starting if he wasn't crocked.

The slowest 11-15 in S6, S10, S12, S14 and S15 history? I doubt that Macqueen will go that way.

No to mention 2 ball-playing centres ;)

Your opinions are always given with such certainty and confidence. It must be nice to be right all the time.

I'd also be looking at Staniforth. The other big thing will be imports. What about Hernandez or Chabal or someone like that who will bring something to the club for sponsors? They will need that as much as anything.

Argentine players. We want them into the Tri Nations on the condition that they field their strongest side. Lets get thier players into SANZAR competition. They have brought the flair of Capriani so now recruit the solid pack to win him the ball. Argentines are a good option.

Thoroughly agree. I dont know how many of the players from the Argentinian 2007 World Cup squad are still playing/available but that was a class bunch.

Depending on his French contract (I think it is up this year) AJ Whalley could be an option for tight head or at least in the squad.

9. Henjak
10. To'omua
11. Nadolo
12. Barnes/Beale
13. Gasnia/Mortlock
14. Ngwenya!!!!!!
15. Cipriani

Might not win every game but would be a bloody exciting backline, Especially the wingers.

Mate I do not have much faith in Nadolo. He is a big unit and I wish him well but just I can't see him becoming a dominant Super winger.

Especially if they got Beale, that's a backline I'd love to see.

Despite the noise, I couldn't see them getting Ngwenya by any stretch of the imagination. But as many have said, there's plenty of promising young outside backs up in QLD that could fill that position.

Brock James just resigned with his French team right?

1.
2. Frier
3.
4. Lobbe
5. Chislom
6. MMM
7. Beau Robinson
8. DAVID LYONS (just kidding...)
9. McKibbin
10. Hangers
11. Davies
12. Lealifano
13. Mortlock
14. Gasnier
15. Cipriani (partly because he signed with the promise of being allowed to play fullback)

I have to say about Ngywena, I've seen a few of his games for the french club team, he's fast as anything, but his other rugby skills are a bit lax. Sure is entertaining to watch, but I'd rather have a more rounded winger than him.

Seems like a decent team without hurting the other franchies too much, though maybe Chilsom and Davies would be a bit of a blow.

A bigger point is that if anyone of the teams mentioned so far come close to being true, it would certainly add to the depth of Aussie rugby. Which was the point all along. Besides money.
