Wow. so mentioning that has already been banned has it?

hmmm

It is unsubstantiated hearsay, lawyers love this shit and Gagger doesn't have enough money to defend stuff, so we leave it alone until a reputable public source writes about it clearly naming names.

Until then we leave it alone

Your point?

Just that given this is a pretty informal forum that isn't exactly beholden to any sponsors it's unusual that a bit of hearsay would be eradicated so quickly.

The very fact of its immediate elimination actually makes it sound more credible, whereas at first I thought it was just someone taking the piss.

In theory a positive step although the chasm between Cheika and McKenzie could make it difficult.

I am 100% for Australia adopting the Waratahs game plan or similar; it probably best plays with our traditional strengths and weaknesses.

On the other hand Cheika spent a year and half of solid work with the team to get this right. Not to mention the fitness levels required ....
Fair to say that for much of Deans' time here our Super Rugby teams did not deliver test match fit players to the National Team.

The big problem with Australia is 5 different provinces marching to their own tune with different philosophies and game plans. Fair enough, each is trying to win with the players they have. However since we are calling this a business then the funding stakeholder needs to step up and stamp its authority. Across the Tasman they seem to be marching to a similar beat and the NZRU has a greater say in how players and coaches are allocated.

In any other business situation we are often advised to look at the market leaders and replicate what we can.

If Cheika was to be coach I would like to see a Rod McQueen type buy into the strategy in a Coaching Director style role who then goes around kicking Super Team coaches into shape if they are diverting from the program. I think it would be divisive for the national coach to do that and all recent incumbents have shied away from it even though clearly unhappy.

Defamation
What is ‘defamation?
If somebody publishes or spreads false information about you, your reputation might be damaged. This is called ‘defamation’, and it is against the law. The law protects your reputation by not allowing false information about you to be published. If it is too late, and the information has already been published, you can sue the person who has defamed you and the court may award you damages (money) to compensate you for the damage done to your reputation.

I suppose you're onto something there - what this really is about is the utterly pathetic job the Wallabies management team is doing.

Hmmm. This feels like something, but I can't quite put my finger on it.....

If this is too subtle for you, try this:
- If Patston was an issue, then in time the players would have had it dealt with by complaining above Link's head
- Patston didn't make a certain player send insulting and derrogatory texts about her
- Two players were asked by Doyle (not Patston), at the request of Link (not Patston), to change shirts. One did with no comment. The other one gave a snide comment, Patston weighed in, and it was on. Given the prior history between Patston and Beale, it's unsurprising what happened, especially after a supposed "emotional apology" for the previous offence

There are right ways to go about things, and there are wrong ways (see: Quade Cooper, toxic).

I will be surprised if either of Patston and Beale remain employed by the ARU at the end of this. But if you can't accept that "Beale was the architect of his own destruction" (as someone previously so succintly put it), then I politely suggest you study the above picture for a while. Oh, and I have no doubt that Beale would have kept his job if he didn't have such ridiculous priors.

Please genius do tell how you would have managed this better.

Well I'm glad you asked.

First, I would have done a more stringent background search on my player manager (the deletion of the LinkedIn site and the SMH's evidence that she fabricated much her experience and qualifications is a massive fucking red flag)

Second, if a player had "bullied" said staff via text message I'd have dealt with with it there and then - if it was necessary.

Third, if my player manager and said player had allowed a T-Shirt to reopen the wound, I'd probably have told them to just sit down and shut up, and I don't think I'd have missed a crucial training session to drive the manager to the airport afterwards.

I mean who hires someone who's supposed to be looking after players that in turn needs so much looking after?

Yep, I know what defamation is, but this isn't a newspaper, it's an internet forum... Go have a read of the comments over at the "Catalaxy Files" website from back when Gillard was PM - people were suggesting all kinds of batshit BS about who Gillard might have been f###ing and other silly BS. Never went to court thought...

Might as well close the thread mate.. It's a clusterfuck of epic proportions.. speculation going to happen till facts are known, which we never will know.

Please release us Fatprop. There are records on this site that do not need to be broken by this thread.

A bit of a beat up headline mind you - most of the article was about team selections.

To me it sounds like the kind of smart ass rumour that gets started about any woman who's getting ahead quicker than people expect.

This thread is on a very tight leash. Everyone tread carefully, please.

Holidays will be handed out like candy.

Well there's not an awful lot more to be said really unless people want to be massive smart asses.

All in all the whole thing just looks awful for Australian rugby all round - just so much fucking drama that's come out so little when you think about it.

I will say one thing though, SBS reports McKenzie saying that:

... Patston was brought in to make a difference, to help improve the side.

McKenzie defended Patston's hiring, saying she had a strong background in psychology and human behaviour.

I know he's in a difficult position, but his judgement isn't looking too crash hot right now, because while Beale may have set the thing off, the very fact it's blown up so much isn't indicative of a person who's got a great grip on pyschology and behaviour.

Anyway, its been said: Link denies everything, so he's putting a marker down.

Everyone else concentrates on their job, the investigation into Beale happens next week, and the caravan moves on.

Suspect there will be slaps on the wrist and planning for EOYT.

Absolute rubbish. I've witnessed people of high intelligence and function form terrible mental issues due to sustained work place bullying. This is what this is.

Why do people keep blaming the victim here?

You are on fire. The staff member in question has had one in incident in 4 years of employment with QRU & ARU. A player involved has had numerous, shall we list them? Which one of these has psychology & behaviour issues? Patston may well be found to be in the wrong on some of these matters but your constant lack of acknowledgement of any issues with Beale is becoming sad.

"I don't believe her appointment has caused angst."

Link,if you seriously believe this, you are not fit to perform your job.

Forget about all the rumours, the very fact that the ARU are dealing with two matters directly involving her,is confirmation that her appointment has caused angst.

Bloody hell, you act as if the matters are mutually exclusive? And guess what, she appears to be the victim in both!
