If a not-guilty (or inconclusive) verdict is likely, then you would think that KB (Kurtley Beale)'s legal team would push to get it done today so KB (Kurtley Beale) could get on a plane tomorrow.

If it looks like he is going down though, they might try and drag it out as long as possible.

So I just read the article.

Now surely as a defense one would delete any offending evidence off your phone if it is found out. Doesn't anybody with any tech knowledge know if anything is readily available to search the origin of a Whatsapp message?

Surely that would resolve this question of the matter completely?

I'm not sure that calling somebody a "pig", who had allegedly sexually embarrassed you is the heated slur that the article claims though.

It's hardly textbook management practice here is it?
KB (Kurtley Beale) can be in the wrong, and she could still have been a poor hire.
Link's management of her interaction with the squad also appears to have been less than stellar.
It sounds harsh, but I think the squad will be stronger with the absence of all three.
That doesn't mean he can't coach, merely the way he handled conflicts within the group compromised him to an extent where he could no longer be effective.

Typical legal bullshit. A 70 page submission. Questions over the accuracy of the reported content.

Yet, we have something offensive enough to cause issue. We have a player profusely apologising when his crime was revealed.

Now that same player wants compensation for legal costs.

The lawn mower has been in the garage for a week, and it starts on the first pull.
This baby has legs.

In terms of Di P and Ewen attending, while they probably can't be compelled to attend, I reckon that they would have made written statements about what happened on the plane and back in June, and that these will be taken into consideration by the Inquiry.

The claim that a third party "added value" to the offensive message as it was circulated is plausible and may even lead to further sanction of that party if they are subject to the ARU Code of Conduct, but of itself that does not exonerate KB (Kurtley Beale) from the intent of his initial actions.

Will the only winner of this whole sorry saga be the legal fraternity?

With some hesitation I dip my toe into the swirling water of this thread......
As HJ puts it some senior player has added value: if so why isn't that player being inquired into?

My understanding is that what you delete is not truly deleted: it can be accessed using software even if you can't access it using the phone itself.
A better question is why was this only being investigated yesterday: the sore has been festering for 2 weeks. Possibly because the derided submissions raise a question about the authenticity of the text thread.
If so then it would seem that the leakers were selective in what they leaked so that the impression was given that KB (Kurtley Beale) was alone responsible.
This baby has a way to run yet: if they are going to excise the offending tissue they will need to take a wide margin to prevent secondaries.

Oi! Leave the surgical references to me, and I'll abstain from pinching your lines, if it please the court!

Generally you can, unless someone has gone to extra effort when deleting things. The issue here, at least based on my reading of the article, is the extra text was sent from a third party. From a technical perspective determining provenance may be more difficult. In terms of Beale's defence they'll only need to show he didn't send the texts, not who did. For it to be enough to get him off though, I would've thought it'd need to be all the offending texts, not just one of them.

No they won't.
And they shouldn't.
It's not as bad.

They should still be in up in arms over him copping only a token punishment for the use of performance enhancing drugs.

Yep, what a lot of the young'uns don't realise with the crap that they put up on Facebook, and other social media tools, is that it will be there forever.

Recruiting firms now have staff dedicated to trawling social media for "dirt" on applicants. The tools available to trawl social media archive material, and "deleted" social media information will only get more advanced.

Have you ever had a look at the crap you wrote in your old school text books? At least that stayed "private" and was not published for all to see, forever.

You should put the pieces in the microwave, just to be safe.
:D

I know someone who actually does that with dead cockroaches.
Wraps them up in gladwrap and nukes them for 30 seconds. Kills all their eggs apparently - according to the "Science Advisor" from some gossip magazine or other.

Well, that's really ASADA's fault to be fair, and after 18 months people have just got to the point where they were sick of hearing about it and have clearly ceased to care. It also doesn't help that Rugby League fans are pretty desensitized to scandal.
