Channel Nein reporting that the drugs saga is across all three codes.
Just like the match fixing, organised crime, performance enhancing drugs ACC investigation which lead to the Blackest Day in Australian Sport fiasco from last year when soccer, afl, nrl and rugby bosses were paraded before the media in a kindergarten pantomime performance.
Soccer - a couple of church league games in Melbourne had some unusual bets made on them. What organised crime, what PED, what recreational drugs?
Rugby - what match fixing, what drugs, what organised crime? One bloke who has spent 5 minutes in our code has been charged with an offence from when he was in the other code.
NRL - Self confessed PED cheats, previous history of match fixing, former high profile players charged with being key players in Drug syndicates.
AFL - PED rife in certain clubs, several players are OMCG associates, long history of recreational drug abuse, a weak as the proverbial three strikes policy on recreational drugs, no match fixing but plenty of evidence of tanking to get better draft picks the following year.
The drugs sagas are across two codes only, Australian Rules Football and League. Soccer and rugby both operate at a level well above the festering dung heap of ethics, morals and culture displayed in the other two codes.
The media, who have paid have billions of dollars for broadcast rights to AFL and NRL, have a huge vested interest in trying to portray the problem as endemic in all codes not just the ones that they have thrown their money at. They can not afford to have advertisers go all ethical on them, and start moving their spend to soccer and rugby, although there is limited opportunity to do so with SFA FTA coverage of those codes.
