But it doesn't say what that ruling was. Is it simply that NH Sides couldn't play down here before the RWC?

Personally I feel it might be in a (not too intelligent reaction) response to the SH dominance.
We would have already played 4 very difficult tests and by having firther tests the 3 main SH teams will only be honing their skills in preparation for the RWC slaughter of the NH sides.
I think they might (stupidly) believe by reducing our inbound tests they will be reducing our skills as well.
Maybe they just didn't think that the tests would also assist the NH teams likewise but all the same, a fairly intriguing decision in any vein.

Apparently the Rebels have now contacted GI's manager, according to Fairfax. Just imagined Inglis 12, Mortlock 13. Thats about 220 to 230 kgs of centre there. Scary.

Morty is about 105kgs, Inglis is 118kgs atm

He usually plays at about 105 though, had offseason surgery and got fat

Could you please cite an article or something, I'd be very interested to read it.

Sure Inglis has talent, in league. There's a lot of "could be" and "maybe" with him at the moment, but while he is a) Very unfit and b) grasping at any decent contract to replace the 600K / season Russell Crowe boasted he was to get with Souths, how can he be taken seriously? He has never showed any inclination to play rugby, except now he needs some cash. Maybe he could be decent in time, but I doubt he'd have the application to do it the SBW way and learn the game first before aiming for the stars. SBW stayed fit, Inglis has adopted the Dunning pie-diet. I'd be very disappointed in even one cent of ARU money went into his pocket. Now if the Rebels want to waste their money on him, so be it.

Just keep clear of the bloke.

I would love to give a complex rant about why but those five words above sum it up well alone.

i say use him as a marketing campaign. sign him, make sure there is a "get out" in the contract, sell the shit out of the switch, then when the season starts sack him and sprout to the world that he isnt a good enough to play union, have him go back to league and destroy teams safe int he knowledge that everytime he plays there game well in the back of the bogans mind is "if he is our best player, i wonder how good union is"

Personally, I don't want him anywhere near our game. Especially in Australia.

It'll be the same old story.

He'll be paid more than what he's worth.

Get fast tracked into the Wallaby squad over someone more deserved based on his rugby league rep and marketing ability.

He won't be as good as expected.

He'll return to rugby league and the Wallabies will be worse for it.

I do hope that JON and the ARU are serious about not chasing mungos.

And the Rebels will be better off without him.

There are those saying that he will attract crowds in Melbourne because of his profile. What profile? He doesn't play AFL. He MIGHT be a name that SOME people know along with Billy Slater.

Otherwise nobody could really give a fuck about him down here.

Morty might have been about 105 in 2003. The bloke gets bigger year by year. He would have to be much closer to 2010 now. And Inglis also plays heavier and heavier year by year.

We'll see.

The Rebels don't have much of a profile down here yet.

They've yet to make any real news in the media.

For instance, Channel 7 is the highest rating news program down here and none of their announcements or major launches have even gotten a mention.

On the bright side the Storm struggle to get airtime unless there's some kind of big controversy, like a salary cap breach or something.

Mortlock was 105 last year. So was Inglis. People imaging a combined 220-230 need to get a room. Two corpulent logs in the centres would not suit the modern style.

I'm as anti-mungo as the next leather-elbow-patch-blazer-wearing north shore snob, but Inglis is the only loig player I've actually watched and said 'wow' about

Slim 293

I've said "wow" about many players in other sports but that doesn't mean they'll be good at our sport.

Let's not forget that rugby league is not the same sport.
