When Tuqiri was signed I was posting on rugby forums deploring that so much money would be spent on him that could be better spent elsewhere. Of course, when he was about to start playing I was the biggest hypocrite in the world and couldn't wait to watch him.

I will be appalled if Inglis is signed up at top dollar when the money is needed elsewhere but .........

Maybe we can just buy his fend. Not enough Oz union players do it well: AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is one who can, and I was watching this year's Reds v Force match again last night and Diggers had a dab fend in that match - just ask Ryan Cross.

Rebels have said they have no room for Inglis, Link has previously dismissed the thought of signing Inglis

Can anyone confirm the number of players each Australian Super Rugby franchise can contract?

He was still good this year, probably the best centre along with SKD

Although he had hip and thigh problems throughout which limited his running. Next year if he plays and has trimmed down to around 105kgs he will be dominant once again

if he were to play rugby, i would definetly watch the game to see how he goes, but i dont want the ARU or any australian province to waste the money on him, let him go to France and learn rugby over there

No, no, no. By all means, he should head off to France for a season or two to pay off the mortgage, but I don't think we need another league recruitment disaster on our hands.

I think it's a credit to JON that rugby hasn't even been mentioned in all of this - mind you, it's probably only hours away, if he's talking to AFL.

Post of the Year? Or at least most agreed with.

If we can score him for a bargain price I don't see why you wouldn't go after him:

- High Profile sure to lead to more exposure for the game.
- High Profile in the indigenous community.
- He's an amazing player, who has had one bad year, that wasnt even that bad.
- He could potentially play 8, 12, 13.
- Giteau gets payed far more and DOES far less I dont see what people are whining about.

I say throw a 2 year contract under his nose, tell him he has to lose 10-15 kgs and not make a fool of himself in public, and I'm confident the ARU will see a return on their investment.

I'd sign him to a marketing budget if anything, ala Karmichael and the AFL. Then send him to every aboriginal community in Oz with Wallaby gear on, well I guess ARU stuff.

Maybe offer him a 7s contract. Let him see the world.

I hope that nobody bothers with him and I doubt if anybody will. He has too many off field issues that really make it a moot point how good he is on the field.

Do we really want the type of publicity that League seems to thrive on?

if anything he'll play 18months in top14 / second tier french rugby, which will teach him some decent skills and the union game. let them invest in him, and then grab him back, not a viable option for 2011RWC, maybe 2015... but he has to perform ala SBW...

also JON has gone against the league--->union signings since dell, rogers, and tuqiri all went back to mungo... so doubt ARU will throw support and $$$ behind it...

When GI is fit he is devastating in the NRL, apparently he had a hip problem all this year which is probably why he didn't perform well in the sprint.

If he were to transfer across he would probably have the biggest potential compared to the others who have come across. Would bring a real x-factor to the rebels backline (at 13) that few union players would bring

However his past has let him down a whole lot, too much off field nonsense which doesn't sit too comfortably with an investor. Although i would like to see his talent in the wallabies, GI the man doesn't seem like a great investment

Plus the fact he is really fat atm

Agree - his X factor could be anything not only on a rugby paddock

It may not be popular, but I'd prefer the Wobs to have a 13 who knows how to ruck and tackle.

I think GI is a terrific player and a couple of years ago I would have gladly looked at bringing him on board in OZ rugby. However, the last 12 months have not reflected well on him and he now has some unwanted baggage and not just around the midriff. If he wants to play rugby and is dinkum about it, I would suggest either playing club footy in Brissy or Sydney or go over to France/UK and learn his trade there. Maybe after he's served an apprenticeship, he'll be considered good enough to play test footy.

I'm sick of short cuts to the Wallaby jumper and especially to code switchers who haven't done the hard yards in the lower levels of the game. It sends the wrong message to the young blokes IMHO.

With that said, I've loved watching him in Origin over the years. Very classy on the paddock.

if the aru sign him, just make sure he goes to a team that needs help due to there inability to win, somewhere like the reds or queensland were he can learn his trade without affecting the teams overall ability.

I think he'd be a better union 12 in the vein on SBW because of his offloading game and the fact that with his size/pace combo I have my doubts he could gas someone on the outside like a union 13 needs to do on occasion.

This being said, the on the field off the field gambles are too big for him to be a highly paid athlete BUT if things so pear shaped and it looks like he won't be signed I'd be more then happy to see him cop a cheap as chips deal from one of the Super sides. It'll never happen though.

On another note, if any other Leaguie came to the Rebels I'd like it to be Matt King. Big, tough and great at getting those cross field kicks I've seen Cips kick in the Wasps game I've watched.

EDIT: Upon watching dobduff11's very impressive GI video I've concluded (at least in my mind) he would be a shocking union center. In all his highlights he is taking his outside man's space, all of them. This might work for an incredibly athletic young buck BUT I doubt it would work for the GI we see before us nowadays.

I'd sign him if he were available. People deride our league converts but Tuqiri, Sailor and Rogers were all very good players for the Wallabies (if not as good as they were at league) and Inglis is several classes better then any of those.
