20 Players!!!.that's phenomenal this early in the season. However with their 2nds travelling nicely and some good colts as you mention, whites are perhaps not in such dire straights.

While personally Ive never highly rated the Fianga twins, its always good to see rep players back in club games.

Yea pretty crazy the amount of players they have out - might be a blessing in disguise - if these players start to flow back into the Whites side later in the year - while some other clubs might be suffering injuries later in the year.

Saia will def help come scrum time and with experience for the younger guys - I guess it's more a status thing as well - ex-eddies boy, Queanbeyan guy, been gone for a few years and back in white - will be cool to see.

Queanbeyan 35 - Uni-Norths 36

Good game of rugby today - Uni-Norths really player their hearts out but Whites let them in the game to many times. I know you can't use excuses but when you have more than half your side out it's always going to be tough whoever you play.

I think it was a mistake bringing off Saia and Les - both played extremely well, with Saia and Penca leading the side around very well.

Big plus for the Whites is that their scrum was back to it's dominate self - Uni-Norths had no answer at scrum time.

Not much to say really - I think when Queanbeyan have a full-strength side they will be totally different but some of these key players are out for at least another month+

It may of been 2005-2006 - from memory the Whites were struggling and then somewhat out of the blue basically the whole St Edmunds 1st XV - led by Dan Penca joined the Whites and then they won the Premiership in 2007.

Only reason I remember this is due it that being my junior playing age group/year - so there was a lot of talk around why Penca and a lot of the St Eddies players didn't take up the offers from Vikings. Also the year most of the Marist players went to Royals instead of Vikings - the only notable player I can think of out of that playing group/age group was Michael Henry - who stuck it out for years in lower grades and has now become a bit of a club legend/1st Grader.

So its possibly been over 10 years since they missed the finals - I may be wrong - I went a bit MIA in the Club Rugby scene for a few years.

I think they are lacking leadership/experience - Penca can't take everything on his shoulders - he is trying to lead a side + trying to take up some of the slack of the inexperienced players around him - you could see a huge difference when Saia and Les were on yesterday - it gave Penca abit of time to simply play the game. I honestly believe if Les and Saia had been left on they would of won the game - I know this would be of somewhat controlled by the Brumbies Management. They are really missing the likes of Barbaro also - who was a natural leader and technically the best scrummager in the comp.

I guess let's see what they can do when some of the injured players start to flow back into the side - they have Easts next week - 1. they need to get the win and 2. they really need to put some points on them to help with ladder standings.

I believe after this weekend Queanbeyan will be sitting 2nd last.

What was the game like Bluebags? Royals look slick or West off the pace?

Only managed to make the 2nd half but the score was already 24-7 or the likes. I hadnt seen either team before ,but expected a much improved Wests and a redhot Royals. Hard to gauge therefore, if this was the "good " Wests side or not, they certainly had their moments. Likewise, dont know if Royals were at their best or had slacked off a little with the big lead. Either way, they are a class side and will be there on GF day no doubt

have now seen all JID teams play this year and while early days, here are my final standings;

Royals ...based on a better points scoring
Vikings
Owls ...based on their win yesterday and the way they stood up to Tuggers
Wests...thinking yesterday was an off day against a very good side
Eagles
Whites
Easts

I believe Royals and Tuggers have gapped the the next 4 who will all beat each other and make it really tight. Royals at this stage seem to score more points than Vikings against the same opponents and I will be brave enough to predict they beat each other once just to make the GF interesting.

Ive sort of guaged most teams on their efforts against Tuggers who Ive mostly watched. I'll be even braver to pick the Owls, who if they can get more consistent will go well. The Eagles and Whites were blown away by the Redmen while Easts (twice) have stood up. Wests...am undecided.
The big spanner to the whole works will be the Whites. They have so many good players out as No8 mentioned to write off. If they can get them back with enough time to build some teamwork and fluency, then anything could happen. If not and with more close losses, it becomes hard to dig themselves out of a hole.

Cannot bloody wait til next weekend, blue baggers taking on the red men. Should be a cracker. Owls vs Eagles will also be a good game. Queanbeyan should account for Easts. Any word on if the Fainga'a twins will be playing? Still parked outside their house No 8? What are they upto tonight?

You have to admit number 8 - that is kinda funny!

Can't wait till Royals v Vikes! Nothing would surprise me - I'd expect it to be close but wouldn't be shocked if either team clicked and ran up a big score on the other.

yeah, funny...but a bit harsh. No 8 didn't really obsess on the twins. Beside its not really stalking behavior until hes actually sprung inside their house

Hi all,

Went out to watch the red men play on Saturday. I took the little one with me for her first taste of John I Dent. Unfortunately wasn't able to see any colts or 2nd Grade but based on the scores they went as expected.

Easts we're not bad. Even though they went down by 50 they showed some flashes of good hard footy. They defended well for periods and when they had the ball they looked pretty dangerous at times. Their scrum was excellent only taking a backwards step late in the game. Having Robbie Abel, Blake enever and Jordan smiler would have helped but from all reports a massive improvement across the board for Easts.

For Tuggeranong it was a solid performance and as expected plenty of space for the outside backs. I believe Jordan Jackson-Hope got over the line 3 times. Other standouts were Robinson, tuggies no 4, knight, hyne and the tuggies props who all seemed to get through a lot of work. Was disappointed with Ah Wong he just doesn't seem interested.

Super pumped for next week against Royals should be a cracker of a game hopefully I'll be able to head out there. But if not I'll look forward to the updates from you guys.
