I agree wholeheartedly with Whale berry regards the "involvement" and "lack of involvement" of Sydney Boys High coach staff and schooling staff in the Pius 2XV game versus SBHS 1st XV.
"Involvement" - The SBHS coach or manager that ran on to the field was screaming and threatening in his approach and manner towards one or two Pius players. This was completely out of line and unacceptable.
The incident in the last minutes of play in the 2nds game was again terrible - it appears that the Pius player reacted to constant "niggle", so he was the instigator in the refs eyes (and correctly so) because be threw punches at the Sydney High #8. These punches were inches away from the referee and very nearly connected with the referee himself. The Pius player should have been red carded. The red card to the #8 was a surprise, and so was the "show" that followed. Swearing, cursing, temper tantrums, kicking, spitting and throwing anything he could get his hands on was embarrassing for this very immature young man, but it was the swearing that was completely out of line. There were young boys and girls around.
The "lack of immediate involvement" by the SBHS coaching and teaching staff was very, very sad. Their lack of action was unacceptable.
Every parent in the stands was horrified.
