ISA 2023

I figured since GPS and CAS 2023 threads have already been created and actively used, may as well commence the conversation for, what I think, will be a tightly contested ISA season.

St pats will be up there
I'd agree with that. I dont know the makeup of their forward pack this year but if they retain some of their big work horses, they should be able to provide enough ball to their backs who showed this year that they dont need a lot of it to score tries.

I agree, having the best 10 and 15 in the state means the backline will be sorted, it'll just be up to the forwards to provide momentum. Oakhill seems to be fielding another strong team this year with players such like Lennox Risati and Ryan Jacobs returning and I trust their consistently good forward pack will be strong with players such like Luke Muriti showing plenty of promise in the u16 Gen Blue games. Auggies are a bit of a question mark, Walsh is returning from injury although so he'll provide plenty of impact and class into the first XV. A strong 16A team as well will assist in their season. So far Pats Oakhill and Auggies are my top 3 sides going into next year, could maybe throw in Stannies.

If next year's season is anything like this year's it will be a cracker. I genuinely enjoyed not knowing the outcome of any games being played and every team played like each game was theirs to be taken. It made for a compelling and entertaining competition.

Anyone have early predictions for the ISA 1st XV 2023 team ? I Know of Lennox Risati, Alex conti, Mitch woods, Luke Muriti and Joe walsh who will be strong contenders for the side in my opinion but would love to see a full team

I wouldn't have a clue about a full team, but i'll name some players who I think have the best chance of making their position.

2 - Luke Muriti - Oakhill
4/5 - Paull/Toole/Brennan - Augs (All made the NSW Schools and Sydney tournament in second row)
8 - Ethan Dawson - Stannies
9 - Sam Blank - Augs
10 - Alex Conti - Pats
12 - Joe Walsh - Augs
13 - Lennox Risati - Oakhill
15 - Mitch Woods - Pats

This is purely based off representative team selections, I do not know many boys in year 12 that are standouts but I think you can pretty much guarantee the 9,10,12,15 positions are locked in given they are all Australian u16 players.

Cormac Molloy - St Pius X (no2)
cracking player , big boy moves around the field well

Toole graduated so he’s out of the equation

Liam Toole graduated but his younger brother is going into Yr11 and is a good chance to make it. Saints also have couple of new recruits in the Berryman cousins who’ll make their backline one to watch

Yes and his cousin Tomoko Berryman-Black who was in the U15 Genblue. They’re both in Harold Matt’s team at the Rabbitohs
Wow, what great pickups for Augs, there backline will be electric with Berryman at fullback and im guessing Tomoko plays inside centre? Exciting times ahead in the ISA future, a lot of talent coming through. It will be interesting if the ISA 1st team could beat GPS and CAS, they are stacked with Gen Blue talent backs as well as strong representative forwards.

Pats are heading over to Japan during the Term 1 holidays. Dont know the schedule just yet but I'm sure that will be a great experience for them.

Wow, great experiences ahead for those boys, not sure if their stars will go (Conti and Woods) because I believe Harold Matts is still on during that period. I heard Augs are having a week up at Lennox Head in the Term 1 holidays as well which should get them in shape for the season. Does anyone have any preseason draws yet for any teams?

Oakhill have first trail against Barker, then Shore, Joeys, Waverly, Knox and finish with Trinity prior to ISA season. Oakhill off to NZ south island for a 3 game tour in Term 1 holidays.

Geez they'll have no time to catch their breath hey! They could reasonably finish with 5 from 6 and maybe - who knows - a clean sweep! You'll hear the crowing from Castle Hill for weeks :)
