Auggies vs Stannies Game report
A day out at Bathurst which was looking gloomy and wet throughout the earlier grades managed to clear up for the main spectacle at 3:15.
Auggies came out of the gates firing on all cylinders, scoring on the first play of the game through a backline move, this was then followed by 3 or 4 long range tries in very quick succession as the Auggies lead opened up very quickly. Into the break Augs are up big.
2nd half is more of the same, Augs running in some more well worked tries as the score line kept growing. Towards the end of the game stannies gained a lot of possession close to to Augustine’s line however we’re not able to crack them. Augustine’s made a large amount of subs towards the late stages and this is where Stannies 15 made a great break from his own half, then setting up his teammate who got over the line, it’s unknown whether possesion was lost or not over the line however none the less a great try from stannies from long range.
All in all 66-7, another dominant performance from Auggies who have made another statement as they aim to power onto an ISA title.

Oakhill v St Pats

16A Oakhill 26-10
Second XV Oakhill 19-8

First XV Game
A strange game at Oakhill today with both teams playing some good rugby in patches mixed with a high error rate and lots of dropped ball. Oakhill never fully dominated their opponents despite having the majority of possession. Pats were well below their best and put together some better possession in the second half, looking more coherent in the last quarter of the game. Pats dropped the final pass of a good backline move with the line wide open, missing a try right on half time allowing Oakhill to maintain a 5 – 0 lead at half time. Oakhill possession saw further tries to them after half time and Oakhill also crossed the try line several times only to be held up with Pats deep in defence. Pats came to life at times with 3 good tries in the second half but it was not enough of a consistent effort, Oakhill running out deserved winners 24 - 17. Neither team would be particularly happy with their overall performance.

What seemed odd for the last home game for Oakhill for the year was the lack of atmosphere and support, with barely 20 Oakhill students seen to be supporting their First XV and away supporters equal to or outnumbering the home team support for the First XV game. For a school with a strong rugby program and 1800 boys (plus the girls in year 11 and 12) it did seem an underwhelming way to finish their home season.

Kinross host Pats - Congratulations to Kinross on securing their 1 point win over Pius. A close game like that will be remembered by all and they will consider this just reward for the effort that's gone in to their program. How much of a bounce will they take from it as they play Pats this weekend? Playing in Orange is never an easy assignment so Pats will have their work cut out for them - no doubt smarting after a close loss to Oakhill last week.
Prediction - A Black win, but not not by much with Kinross fighting all the way

Pius host Stannies - Match of the round. Calling this the battle for the wooden spoon does not really seem fitting. However, it is an odd game considering how much ability these two teams have. Both squads will have at it this Saturday and it's going to be close. Will be interested to see how Stannies approaches this game. The temptation will be to try to arm wrestle their way through, but I feel their strength lies out wide.
Prediction - Pius back on home turf and will get the win... barely

Gregs host Oakhill - The ever improving Gregs will take on an Oakhill team relieved that their fended off Pats challenge to their dominance last Saturday. I wonder how much home ground advantage is to be had at Gregory Hills. I still feel they are capable of an upset and this could be the game that demonstrates their wares. They've put in a really strong showing at the back end of the season but Oakhill need to win to keep their three way title hopes alive.
Prediction - On paper it should be Oakhill, but dont discount Greg's ability to spring an upset

ISA Round 6: 12-8-23
Kinross host Pats - Kinross's win last weekend was a great turnaround from their previous endeavours. A good sign leading into this weekend against Pats. Travelling out west this time of year will normally test many schools. the weather should just be cold and not freezing this weekend. Pats were denied possession last week for most of the game last week and it was only at the end of the game that their backs got possession and scored some good tries. If Pats get at least 50% possession, I think their backline class will show out and give Pats a comfortable win.

Pius host Stannies - Pius will be very disappointed with last weeks result. They had been showing some stronger rugby over previous weeks. Stannies have promised some better rugby this year, however they have yet to put it together on the field. I think the blowout scores against Stannies has dented their confidence and them travelling to Oxford Falls will give Pius a close win.

Gregs host Oakhill - Gregs have beaten the 2 schools they were meant to beat but have lost against the 2 more highly performing schools. Coming off the bye will have allowed them to come back fresh. Oakhill rebounded quite well after the defeat to Auggies. On the back of a dominant scrum, 4 tries and 4 tries held up over the line they denied Pats possession. If they can follow that plan again, I think Oakhill should finish the season on a win.

Huge news coming out out Saint pats, saint pats Star five eight Alex conti who plays for nsw rugby union And Highly Rated in the league system has done his acl. This is a huge set back for a young kid like that being out for 12 to 14 months.

Pats v Kinross
34-10

It’s never easy travelling to the cold weather of Orange especially for Pats when missing a crucial member of their team. A solid first half from Kinross left the score 14-10 Pats way. In the second half Kinross suffered on the back of their errors when the likes of Conti and O’Connor showed pure class to capitalise whilst combining with other backs and forwards for some great tries. A bonus point win for the boys in black keeps their chance alive for the premiership where the challenge lies against a favourited Auggies side next week

Oakhill vs Gregs 40 - 22
A good afternoon for rugby. Oakhill started the game very strongly with the forwards driving towards the line for a try within the first 5 minutes. This did not phase Gregs at all, they came to play and looked very good with the structured approach and on the back of their strong scrum worked their way down the field to set up a good try for their backs. Then next 10 minutes was an error affair with both sides dropping alot of ball. Gregs then scored off an intercept try to gave them the lead 10- 7. The next 10 minutes once again was very forward dominated with alot of errors from both sides. Oakhill then was able to put together some possession to score out wide to lead 12-10 at half time. The second half started very similar to the first with the forward battle quite intense with nether side able to gain complete dominance. After about 10 minutes Oakhill scored again to lead 19-10. Once again Gregs kept coming back. They scored another good try but failed to convert and then from an Oakhill error scored in the corning with a conversion to take the lead 22-19. The battle in the forwards was getting a bit fiery and this seemed to bring the Oakhill forwards together. Their driving and passing setting up 2 quick tries to take the lead 33-22. Then with the final scrum of the day, Oakhill sent it wide through the backs to score in the corner and convert. Season over for Oaks as we have the bye next week.

Predictions 19/8/23 Final ISA round
Greg’s vs Pius-
I have a feeling with this one that it will be a great game however Greg’s have been building all season and their performance against oakhill staying with them all game shows that they are capable of competing with the big teams. Due to that, I believe that against a team that has struggled all year in Pius, Greg’s will put on a show infront of a home crowd. Greg’s 15+

Auggies vs pats- 1 Vs 3 on the ladder this battle of the heavyweights will be a game not to miss out on. With pats hoping to force a 3 way tie and Auggies looking for an outright premiership this will be a game to watch. Pats have firepower through their 10 and 15 and have gone close with oakhill, however as we know Auggies are a different beast this year with a ridiculous amount of talent throughout their entire team and an electric backline. Coming off a massive win against stannies 2 weeks ago and the bye, I think they’ll get the job done to secure their premiership out at Strathfield relatively comfortably but on their day pats have the ability to go with them. Auggies 17+

Stannies Vs Kinross
Here we go, the battle of the west, both teams have shown glimpses of some entertaining footy this year. I believe this game will go absolutely down to the wire. Personally however I believe stannies may just have the edge on them and the likes of their back 3 helps them there. But don’t count Kinross out, travelling down the road to stannies may make it tough but they’ll get fired up for the battle of the west. Stannies by 3+ infront of a big home crowd.

Good luck to all teams this week and would love to hear everybody else’s predictions.

Pats V Auggies

I believe this season has been going off the bonus point system where you can receive one point for scoring 4 tries and can receive another point for losing by 7 or less. I’ve been made aware that if Pats are to get a bonus point win this weekend and Auggies are to come away without a point (Auggies don’t score 4 tries or lose by more than 7) then it will be an outright premiership for the boys in Black. I can’t confirm on what happens if they are to finish on equal ladder points but if Pats do beat Auggies and finish equally then it may go to Head to head which would leave Pats on top but I’m not certain.

I cannot confirm or deny this as I’m not certain on the specifics, so with you being uncertain also, let’s leave that to the experts, what’s your prediction for the game, Sammicheals?
