ISA 2018

Mr ISA Rugby

Herbert Moran (7)
Pats go down to Aloys. Someone call the mortician, St Pats rugby is dead.

Bit dramatic there bud.. Pats won 13A/B, 14A/B, 15A/B, 16A, 4ths. Had close losses in 3rds/2nds. And lost to an Aloys team that beat Oakhill by 50 the week before...

Of course, things aren't perfect but to claim that it is dead is crazy. They will be competitive across the board this year in the ISA.

Now that the combined trial period is over and the ISA season is starting next week, I have put together all the results that I know of from this trial period.

I believe the results place Auggies as the clear favorites to win the comp this year with the Stannies/Auggies game to be the GF.

I will aim to write-up some season previews for each team shortly.

^^^^^^ a really good demonstration of Schoolboys playing ethos, end to end, frenetic,no holds barred.
Unlucky outcome for the Scots boys in this isolated case,I hope it doesn't discourage them for playing this style as long as they can.

This is very helpful indeed, Mr ISA! To the Gregs list you can add W 39-24 TAS. Which Kings team did Gregs play?

Jim how do you find the GPS Thirds competition? I think it's a sensible measure given the logistical and demographical issues some schools face but would be keen to hear about what it's like at the coal face.

Hi DaSchmooze. I will write a proper reply because it is a very interesting (and important) question. The short answer is that it' been a considerable success. Mist importantly, it's given boys from smaller rugby schools (smaller in terms of numbers. not commitment or contribution) the chance to continue playing serious rugby with a recognised prize. It's helped maintain the infrastructure of and interest in rugby in the country and especially in Northern NSW. It's strengthened the GPS by keeping more boys involved in GPS sport. It's created a small barrier, a small space, against the overwhelming dominance of big schools whose numbers and resources have been crowding out others. All these things are good, but there have been problems as well connected with byes and logistics. One effect is that the comp is no longer a total GPS comp with New withdrawing.

Has ISA announced their Rep teams yet?

I believe those selected have been advised. From memory in the past few years they wont release the teams to the public until the last moment.

AICES, CCC and CHS have been announced and can be found on the Australians Schools Championships thread.

Based on previous form, CAS and GPS wont be announced until the week before the NSW Schools Championships

Newington in their game against Oakhill Won 36-7. A rather unimpressive result when compared to the Barker and Trinity Wins.

Newigton 3rds dont play in this comp? So their 3rds play other schools 4ths come GPS time?
