Nope, u didn't stu. The Tahs play a trial in country nsw somewhere every year, as well as two home games in the western suburbs away from there home ground. The rebels playing all over victoria are they? That's right, there Melbourne not Victoria.
Playing two games at Stadium Australia is hardly taking the game to new frontiers.

And yes, we're Melbourne, hence the name. But even we've taken trial matches to Geelong, Morwell, Ballarat, and from next year, Singapore.

If the ARU want the game to grow in places like the Central Coast, they should use the resources they already have in NSW. Couldn't hurt your fanbase.

Anyway, irrelevant to the original post. Brumbs will be fine.

People seem to forget that the NZ teams were only formed in 1996 as well.

SA took a couple of years to get their new franchises going.

The Reds and the Tahs are the only two teams that were not created for Super Rugby.

but indeed South Africa did use the Currie Cup teams in the first couple of years the Super12, exactly like they did for the Super 10

Hence why people continue to reiterate that the Super 12 Rugby comp evolved from the previous Super Rugby tournaments..

The key major difference between the two comps was professionalism and governance... Super 6/8/10 didn't have the joint venture SANZAR overarching the competitions..

But.... Like I've said, I'm not concerned about the title, it's pointless, similar as to how I don't care about the South Sydney Rabbit's throwing around the same jazz... No point resting on past laurels

WTF - why Singapore: give up home ground advantage, expend scarce monetary resources transporting and housing players (?subsidy from Lee Kwon Yu?), bugger up recovery times from previous game and for prior game, bugger up time zone support for TV based spectators, alienate any die hard home ground supporters, provide players with opportunity to ride on roof of taxis, unlikely Singapore will be providing a team to S16.......Argentina would make more sense strategically.
It makes less sense than running V8 supercars in Abu Dhabi - how many holdens have they sold as a result?

Stadium Australia s in west Sydney, a town bigger than Canberra and capable of hosting it's own team, taking games there is growing. And introducing it to people that wouldn't normally go. Central coast/hunter is capable of hosting it's own team as my original post.

Taking your game to Singapore will surely grow it in Victoria, lucky the rebels play those 8 trail matches every year all over the place to insure everyone is exposed to rugby down south.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion....

Wouldn't be much of a forum if everyone sang the same tune and agreed on everything..

There's not much point discussing the initial article considering it was full of flaws

Agree with the general sentiments that the precedent has been set by the ARU with regards to the Tahs and Reds being helped in their time of need. So the Brumbies should receive the necessary assistance if it comes to it.

Being based in Canberra, any chance a Federal government department could hand over some $$$ for sponsorship of the Brumbies? They should be able to find $1 million a year from within the government's advertising budget . State government departments sponsor sporting teams so it's been done before.

Enjoy reading all the opinions being expressed. It goes to show how much everyone on the forum loves their rugby.

So is constantly claiming to be the most successful Australia rugby franchise ever while ignoring everything that happened before my team is formed.

I never claimed the brumbies as being the most successful. Very mature response

get real. taking a game to homebush isn't exposing people to new audiences, it's a quick cash grab from a stadium desperate to prove it's not a white elephant.

So, we've got ourselves a Brumbies v Reds dick measuring, and the Waratahs and Rebels arguing over who neglects the bigger fanbase...

We just need to get the Force in on this and we've got ourselves one hell of a pre-season spitefest!

I couldn't merely "like" this...because I truly laughed out loud

although come to think of it, is the rebels v tahs contest: who neglects the bigger fan base or who neglects the fan base more?
...a subtle distinction undoubtedly worth its own thread by about February....

The Crusaders were hit with a loss of NZ$700,000 (£347,000) following a Super Rugby season where they played the entire campaign on the road.
The game in London helped them a bit as it helped them to break even.

The Brumbies was hit cause of Huawei pulled out of a sponsorship deal worth AUS$4 milllion.

While I don't agree re Stadium Australia, I feel the need to reply to congratulate you about the above.

Excellently played, sir.

ARU to help the Brumbies out through these difficult times. By the way things sound with some of the reforms Jake White is implimenting with support from the board, the franchise is moving forward. My tip is it will translate into some enthusiastic performances, crowds will pick up and The Brumbies will be attracting some very positive media exposure. This is just a mere bump in the road for a proud franchise that should have a bright future ahead of themselves.

All the best too them.
